Hello Thomas, Very nice catfish. I always enjoy seeing pics of quality Stockton cats. In my opinion, Stockton cats have a different taste and are some of the best tasting I’ve ever had. Maybe I’m just partial to Stockton! The fish in the picture is definitely a channel catfish. The key distinguishing factor is the rounded anal fin. Blue cats have a straight anal fin. A google search will pull up some good photos for you. Also, you can count the rays in the anal fin and channels have 24 to 29 while blue cats have 30 to 35 rays. Obviously I can’t count them accurately from a photo, but it is a good thing to remember in the field. When channel cats get this large, they often lose the scattered spots on the backs and sides that are typical of channel cats; giving them more of a blue catfish look. down in the swamps of Louisiana where my dad grew up they said the best time for craws was the 3 day prior to a full moon and the best bait was the oily fish. I personally like to gig them in the creeks with the use of a coon hunting light. Their eyes glow red and you get to play in the water lol .

caught these off the bank at Aldrich all full of eggs leaches and goldfish were the key the wind was way to rough for the boat so we fished with a bobber about 5 feet deep

Had a good trip we caught lots of cats on leaches and crawlersand the big blue on live bluegill in the river channel north of Aldrich. They were on the timber in 10 foot of water.

Wutever is that a rock bank? I fished out of the boat in that area before but I was farther east fishing a long point coming into the water.

Well today was not a good day up there rain was cold fish bite was slow I caught one very small smallmouth a ok sized white bass 1 crappie and 2 chanel cats all on bright orange and green 2 inch grub with a 1/8 oz jig head did not see may fish caught but did see some cats caught nothing big. I will try again next time I am sure this evening would have been better but I got wet and cold.

I am heading out in the morning going to try some new strollers that really worked well on LOZ I will report when I get home. I may try for some cats during the slow bite lol.

Got to the water around 2 pm nothing but small crappie on tubes untill around 5:30 thw white bitw turned on and caught around 50 on 1/4 shad rooster tails and lost 3 nice hybrids they snaped my 4lb test lol. Seen 3 big cats come out about 300 yards from the fence on the west side. Nothing real big on my side but I am always on the wrong side lol Going to try again wensday early.

heading up in the morning what the best place from the bank? Also crappie info from the bank would be nice. I see people talking about the dead arm is that the place east of the river with the boat ramp and fishing docks/ Thanks

Went out today and started around noon caught 4 bass in 6 cast on a jackall 4 inch squidminnow (aroura Black)about 8 to 10 feet deep. Moved to the other side of the cove and caught a 19 in bass that was real thin on a storm Smash shad 3/8 oz (Black chrome orange). Then nothing for the next 3 hours.

I have 3 females 7 weeks old for sale or trade for hunting supplys. A are redticks Sire is Grntch Black Ridge White Cotton Dam is Direct daughter of World Wolf Creek Diesel. Pups are heavy woodstock breed pics and coppy of ped available. Message me for pics or info. Pup have had 2 sets of shots and wormed every week.

Got to the lake around 1 pm started fishing for cats lost one good one right off the bat hooked it on a goldfish 30inches under a float. I got bored so I picked up the ultra light and tied on a 1/4 oz rainbow trout colored rooster tail cast out and started counting down to 10 and retrieving it steady pace I caught 21 white bass kept 15 big uns tossed few pound to pound and a half back no dinks. Around 430 pm tossed out 3 line one with goldfish one with chicken liver and one with worms. With in 20 minns all 3 had action and caught 3 3 to 5 pound cats. My buddy and his son showed up and on worms they caught 1 15lb one around 10 and four or 5 around 3 to 4 lbs. I left before sunset but had a blast, and before I go I will tell you right under the bridge I lost a monster flathead on a jumbo goldfish. I need to work on my knot tying. I would say this next week the cats will be tearing it up. God bless and take a kid fishing.
