    Rain

Will be headed down next friday, what will all the rain you guys are getting do to the fishing? Thanks Mike
  2. Wow, this forum definitely got me thinking about my upcoming trip to TR. Kind of in a bad position. First we are staying at Big Cedar and I hired a guide, second I just bought a new Tracker 190 (had my other tracker for 17 years without a problem) and am very excited to run it on this lake, and lastly I am a Psychologist! Kind feel like I met get strung up the first day! Believe me, we have boaters in Wis who are just as inconsiderate, I am not one of those! willow
  3. Bill, thanks for the info. re: Big Cedar guide. Will be don 2nd week of May trying to prove to myself that I can a fish on that lake! I assume you are pretty booked out during that time to guide. Thanks again, willow
  4. Dan, I would love to catch that spawn time too, fishing in those coves will be a blast. I will for sure, miss this time but may catch some around beds. I am going to see if I can hook up with a guide the first day, would love to get Babler but sure he's busy, will check, good fishin, mike
  5. Sam, I agree with you re: Fireline, that's why Power Pro has been strung to my baitcaster and spinners, the problem with the Pro is that it doesnt sink much plus it is pretty visible, tried some crystal Fireline for ice fisin only, will string some on and see what happens, I don't like the stretch of mono and thought flouro had less stretch but since I don't fish these lines pretty unclear. Thanks for the input in lines and again guys, I'll take any advice. Bought a new boat for this trip, told my wife we need a bigger boat to fish such a big area, if we don't catch fish I'm pretty much in the dog house!
  6. Fisherdan, thanks for the info. on the Big Cedar area. Did you get a guide from the marina at Big Cedar or somewhere else? It's funny you said flourocarbon #8 since that's what I strung 2 spinning reels with last night! I do think line was a problem last year, used to my power pro and yanking bass out of lilly pads! Give me a heads up after you get back in April, I'll be there 2nd week in May. Good luck, willow
  7. Techo, you made my day! I was beginning to think I really didn't know how to catch bass! I did think of two guides, capturing this Lilley guy sounded good and the other I read links from is Babler, both these guys are the real deal from what I have read. Maybe I can capture them for a half day trip, that's if they can put up with all my questions! thanks again.
  8. Techo, will be on the lake about 5 days, I know a guide will be well worth it and this is something I prbably should do, frustrating to me that this type of fishing is so different than the natural lake fishing in WIS, thanks for the advice. Anyone have an idea of good spots around the Big Cedar part of the lake?
  9. Thank you for the help, we stayed at Big Cedar and I worked mainly around that surrounding area, Beardsley, Clevenger, Jakes Branch. Then went under hwy 86 to around the brush Creek area. Only had a small boat and tank last year so couldn't make long run, different now since I have a bigger boat. I mainly topwater in Wis, with some plastics and spiiner baits. Crank or Suspending jerk baits that time? Thanks again, hopefully I can figure this thing out!
  10. Well, I was determined to try TR again, last year here the 3rd week in May and bascially got skunked, have fished bass in ponds in WI all my life and never stunk it up so bad on TR. Headed down to TR now 2nd week in May. Will need some advice on where, with what etc. as the time gets closer. Come on guys catch me some fish!
  11. Bill, thnaks for the info., when you say topwater back home on our ponds we fish buzz baits and scum frogs, don't probably think thats what you mean. Spooks and plugs? How bout crank baits at that time? mike
  12. Bass magnet, did you really not catch any bass when you came down? that starts to worry me, I'm headed to this lake because it is so highly rated, hope you have better luck this time.
  13. Bill, sorry bassmagnet I'm on your space but question to Bill. I'm headed down in middle May to fish the first time. Will be at the Wilderness club can you give me some idea of where the best places would be around that area? Have an older Tracker that I don't trust going too far. Mainly Bass. Thanks Mike
  14. Sam, thanks for the feedback again, much like you I like fireline, I use it in Canada for my walleye trips, no stretch, extremely sensitive. I've not used a fluro or mono for years but Stren sounds like the deal. I'm bringing a bunch of equipment, baitcaster to spinning and will most likely have these rigged to try to encompass everything that I will run into. Thanks again for the information and can't wait til May. Mike
  15. Sam, thanks again, any info will be helpful. 2 more questions and i'll let you go. My impression is that Table Rock is a very clear lake, do you have any idea what type of line people usually use? flurocarbon, mono, etc. I ususally hall big bass out of heavy pads and use braided, power pro 20 lbs., to do that. Sounds like fish will be a little bit more aware of line type in a clear lake. Thanks, mike
