  1. If you tie like Dano said you'll have a lot less break offs. I used to double rigg all the time on Taney, but since the rainbows have been spawning so much lately, I've gone back to one fly to avoid foul hooking. It's a huge petpive of mine and it really makes me upset when I do it.
  2. Hey Guys, I'm going to Bennet Springs for opening day and haven't fished there in about three years. About the only thing I've ever used is brassies and I do ok on them, but nothing to bragg about. Anyone that could suggest some flies form me would be appreciated. I usually fish above the dam if this helps
  3. Hey, do you need a partner for your tournament? I've got plenty of time till March 1 when I have to go back to work. Dave from class. Let me know.
  4. I thought I had the wrong site, but I don't. This looks great. very proffesional I might add.
  5. Monday thru Thursday has always been the lightest for me. Even if it is crowded there are so many place people don't fish. A great place is right above outlet #2. It holds tons of fish and is hardly fished at all. Also if you fish just on top of the rebar it usually pretty open there. Remember top not in the middle of it.
  6. Illegal
  7. There are so many nights in a year. Why would you pick the one that contains 4 inches of snow?
  8. Did your test work?
  9. For Valentines Day, this year my wife let me take her fly fishing. She was not very excited about it at first, but after catching her 3rd fish all by her self, she wanted to cast some more. She said she would go fishing with me again sometime. I was pretty impressed that she caught 3 fish on her own, on the first time with a fly rod. She even learned how to mend on the first day. She would have caught a lot more but she needs to work on keeping her rod bent. That was the best Valentine Day I've had in a long time.
  10. I found the best way to get rid of rude fisherman is just concentrate more and try to catch as many fish as possible while they stand there and catch nothing. Usually it just ticks them off and they end up leaving.
  11. Brian - I have used most of those flies but I learned how to tie some leech patterns now and they work pretty darn good. Thanx anyway. Hey by the way. Do you think you will ever come to class again?
  12. Hey Brian, Great to see you on the forum finally. I just realized we have never fished together but we see each other in class almost every Tuesday. We should go fish Taney some time. By the way, I don't know if there was a class tonight, since it's Valentines Day, but since I am still married, hopefully no one will be mad I missed class tonight. Will be there next week. Dave
  13. If you're in a boat, go above fall creek a ways and use some big red san juan worms about 6 ft deep and you can catch tons of them on these. Don't forget about the black zebra midges also.
  14. How about the recipe for those famous $4.00 micro jigs.
  15. Just wanted to intoduce myself. I am from Branson and I get to fish Taney about 3 to 4 times a week. I usually stay up by the island or the rebar hole and have a blast there. Wouldn't mind fishing with someone from this forum sometime, as most times I fish by my self.
  16. I was just down from you today at the top of the rebar hole. It wasn't too crowded there. I was fishing a zebra midge (black with copper wire and bead) today and fishing about 1 foot deep and couldn't do anything wrong. I was catching them on almost every single cast. It was great. What's really funny is there was some guy shuffling today right by us and I still caught more fish than he did and he was cheating. I did have a little help from my 7x flouro. Some people say you don't need it, but I've tested it again and again and only on 7x have I cost fish on virtually every cast.
  17. Went fishing at Taney last night around 11:30pm to 2:00am and had an absolute blast with leaches. It was pretty cold but there was no moon and down by the ledge on almost every other cast I was getting strikes. I caught at least 15 to 20 fish and probably missed another 30 strikes. When it's about 28 degrees as it was last night you can hardly tell when the fish has sucked in your fly. Thanx to Jeremy Hunt for teaching me a new way to strip that leach, (nice and slow); which I learned at the fly tying class, held at Lilleys every Tuesday night. Highly recommend anyone in the area to visit that class. You learn so much there and it's fun just to shoot the breeze and tell fish stories. Funny thing about using leaches is you don't have to switch colors much at all. I caught probably 90% of my fish on a purple leach. Best of Luck, Diamond Dave
