  1. I seen 3 of them flying around by the power plant area.
  2. I never insulted your traditions, Im sorry if you felt like I did, if it sounded like it I didn't mean to. I just thought it was strange how many people go out on opener to fish. I didn't know it was tradition. I just didn't get all the hype.
  3. Didn't miss any point. I totally understand tradition and its awsome. I just thought it was kinda odd hearing people stand just feet of each other lined up and down in a river trying to catch trout or any fish. Since someone said people frawn on keeping browns and brookies it kinda went away with the whole issue since nobody should have issues with what people keep when it is legal. The rivers or streams down here are pretty and just being outside around them are great way to spend a day outside.
  4. You guys would make a stink in your pants if you saw the streams I fished daily up there. Your streams well I call them little rivers. These streams up north that I fished, well you could jump across most of them. Also you can catch huge trout. My biggest rainbow was 6 lbs, biggest brown was a bit over 7 lbs and brookie was almost 2 lbs, all were released because they were so big. I wish the streams were like that here but they are not. Thats why I am going away from trout fishing. It just bores me to much and its easy to catch the trout.
  5. I wish one person would have the guts to come up to me and tell me what I can keep and not keep. As far as I see it, if its legal to keep and I chose to keep that fish nobody has the right to tell me or anybody that you shouldn't keep that fish. I would remind them that these are stocked trout that I am helping pay for with buying a fishing license and trout stamp and I have a right to that fish once I catch it. If I want to feed my family with good tasting trout I have the right to. If people have issues with other people catching browns or brookies I will tell them go find a stream that is only catch and release so you wouldn't get mad at others for keeping fish.
  6. Fellows lake, its more south but I catch my limit every time I go and I am fishing off the shore.
  7. It should be any time but I think thisweather is delaying them. I been catching them but not the numbers i want to.
  8. its not unusual at all, I catch my limit on fellows lake with a white spinner. What I do is take off the skirt and put a worm on it. They hit it real hard!
  9. Please help me understand stuff. They were talking about 1500 anglers were at bennett just friday. Whats the big hype?! These are just rainbow trout right or is there brown trout too?? I really never trout fished down here in missouri, I was a guide for several years in minnesota but I never heard of numbers of anglers coming to fish one stream in one day. Plus these are stocked rainbow trout for crying out loud. I personally dont eat rainbows because once you have native browns and brookies you wont eat another rainbow, they do put up a nice fight. What are the sizes people are catching out there? One other thing, you pay to get your fishing license and trout stamp, is there another fee once you get to bennett springs?
  10. Lol its easy to find, by the dam there is a cove on the right where water comes in the lake. It doesn't matter what side of the cove your on you will be casting to the middle of it. Its about 60 ft deep. Once you cast out as far as you can, you need to feed the line out by hand to get your bait all the way to the bottom. They are hitting hard on leeches. You can use a boat but I can tell you, you will not catch one walleye. I am sure they scare once a boat comes by them. Trust me I tried it off a boat didnt catch one thing, then I parked it and fished off the shore and started catching them none stop.
  11. I found the walleyes!! No need for a boat your better off from the shore.
  12. Man I dont trust what the dnr says in minnesota about what a lake has or dont to what kind of fish are in it. I know from personal experience that you can go out and spend the whole day on that lake catching some big smallies. My biggest 3 years ago was a bit over 6 lbs. Then caught 30 to 40 smallies from 3 to 5 lbs, in one day. On that lake when you find the smallies, you find the huge walleyes as well. They are normally hanging around with each other. My buddy chases muskie on that lake as well. If you deside to go up there, I can set you up where we were catching them last year. We caught tons of smallies and our limit on walleye just about every weekend we fished that lake. Good luck! Oh the loons can be really mean on that lake.
  13. Go to leach lake in minnesota. Im from minnesota I fished hayward alot and leach as well but there are alot of bigger fish and alot more fish in leach lake. Plus if you want to explore other lakes you have 5 different lakes within 45 mins of leach.
  14. Back on the subject of keeping fish and not keeping fish. I don't keep bass myself, I will keep cat fish, crappies, brown trout, brook trout, sun fish and I will throw back all bass and carp and rainbow trout, rainbow trout taste like crap, you might as well eat carp. But who are we to judge or say if someone wants to keep bass. If they really need to feed their family and need meat who cares as long as its legal. They are paying for their license its their right. I dont see anything wrong with it. Plus if you care so much about your bass fisheries, you would stop using soft plastic baits or just use them that.are biodegradable. Ive seen first hand what happens to bass or fish that swallows a plastic worm or lizzard. A bass that is 23 inches long should weigh around 5 lbs but it only weighs 2 lbs. They took 10 bass in that size each one had some soft plastic baits in them and they cant digest it. It kils them slowly. So who is doing more damage? That is why some states are passing bills to ban the baits and guess what missouri is looking into it as well.
  15. between where the warm water comes out and the bridge. im posting pics in a half a hour.
  16. thanks....i was going to let me hole at springfield rest for a bit and come back in three days to see if more crappies are in it. I have to try to get my pics downloaded still from the other day.
  17. Just a question or two, has anybody fished this lake during the winter time months? I heard someone say that they are catching fish right off the bridge that is closed. I never been to this lake and looking at the lake map, there are two bridges that on Mc Daniels and if so what bridge is closed? Thanks for your info.
  18. caught a crap load smallest was 14 and biggest was 18. i will be putting pics up in a few days once i charge my cam.
  19. So I been hearing rumors that people are catching some good crappies at the lake, does anybody know if this is true or not? I'm headed out in the cold tomorrow morning to see if its true as well. I know the bass are hitting like crazy.
  20. I am asking 75 or best offer. It's a Bass Pro shop Tournament Series Baitcast Reel Dual Breaking System High Speed 6:4:1 Gear Ratio. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't use it and could use the money for christmas instead. Let me know what you think. By the way, there is nothing wrong with it, I put alittle tape on the bottom to keep the line there.
  21. well i am going back out tomorrow morning and ill see if they are still biting like crazy. hope its a fun day!
  22. once from 9 am till 2 or 4 pm till 6pm. it really doesn't matter what time they bite like crazy then they stop for 10 mins then the bite is back on again.
  23. right offshore by the power site area. using a 6 inch blue and black worm off the bottom, just bouncing it very very very slowly.
  24. and wow they are biting like crazy.... caught over 50 bass today and 1 crappie. was a great morning at least.
