Deciding between pomme and LOZ to bass fish this weekend. Anyone know what the water clarity/temperature is like on pomme right now?

Since I’ve been back home for Christmas break I’ve spent a lot of hours on the creeks and rivers fishing for winter smallies. So far it’s been a blast and I had another good trip yesterday. I fished a creek that I have had success at in the summer, not too far from my house in St. Louis. Because I had only fished here during the warmer months, I focused mainly in and around the deeper pools, instead of working the whole stretch of creek like I usually do. This paid off, but not like I thought it would. The fish seemed very scattered, and I caught fish in the deeper, slower holes as well as the faster, shallower water leading into them. I never caught more than 3-4 fish in one spot. However, both my brother and I did catch some nice fish including one of the coolest looking meanmouth I’ve ever seen. My theory is that the warmer weather this week had the bass moving more than usual for this time of year, which is why they weren’t all piled up in the deep holes like I thought they would be. Overall it was still a great day of fishing and I’m looking forward to getting back out there!

River Smallmouth Revenge! 12-20 & 12-23
Justin92297 replied to David Goddard's topic in Smallmouth Talk
Awesome report as always Dave, I had a great time taking the jet out! As far as sharing info goes, all I can say is that I am thankful for the people on this forum who generously share patterns/techniques. I grew up fishing the Meremac and I can say without doubt that reading these reports helped me become a better fisherman. I hope the reports I post today help others as well. -
Got out for a few hours this morning, launched at rt 66 and ran up to the big river confluence, which ended up being the only clear water I could find. The rest of this stretch was really muddy. We probably caught around 10 bass, with most being small spots and smallies. I did catch one nice spotted bass that weighed about three pounds. Not a terrible morning for only really fishing one spot before getting swarmed by pleasure boaters, I will definitely get back on this stretch as soon as the river clears up.

This passed year I got my first bass boat, since it is not a jet I know I will be limited to certain stretches of river. I launched it in the meramac for the first time last week at GW Park and fished upstream from there. I would like to find more stretches like this that have good fishing and are safe to run my boat, I’m sure those are far and few between. I grew up fishing the meramac from the bank and can’t wait to explore more of it from my boat, so I would appreciate any tips on where to or where not to launch. Thanks!

Fished from the cable to about half way to Tan Vat and back on Friday. The fishing started off decent but slowed as the day went on. Caught lots of small rainbows and a few just over 15 inches or so. Only caught one brown but it was no bigger than 10 inches. The fish were stacked in all the bends, with the bigger trout in the slower water behind boulders. I feel like I threw every fly in my box at these fish but couldn’t get one to bite, even with very light tippet. Not sure what I was doing wrong. The fish I did catch were on small nymphs and stoneflies. I’ll be back soon to get revenge on those big ones.

From my research there are streams born trout in the current. I think most of the small bows I have caught in that section have been wild ones

Upper Mississippi tournament
Justin92297 replied to Justin92297's topic in General Angling Discussion
Placed 17th out of 127 and missed the cut for nationals by 9 ounces. Definitely still had a fun tournament on a great fishery. Thanks for all the help! -
Next weekend I will be fishing a college FLW qualifier out of prairie du chien Wisconsin. I have never fished up north before and I am not sure what to expect. If anyone has any expierence here I would love to know how the fishing usually is this time of year and what the water temp and river levels will be like. Feel free to DM me, thanks!

My bass club is having a tournament out of the Warsaw ramp in a couple weeks. does this section fish more like a river or a lake? I'm not really sure what to expect

A friend and I floated a section of the river near steelville today and ended up catching over 80 bass between the two of us. Most were under two pounds but we did catch four or five decent fish larger than that. Plastics all day was the ticket for us. This post has been promoted to an article

I fished Saturday as well. Mizzou had a club tournament that day with 6 boats and 15 anglers. We launched out of Shawnee bend and I caught a keeper on the first point we pulled up on. Then we went further back into the next cove and fished a secondary point with small rock and caught 4-5 solid keepers there. Thinking we were going to have a great day we stuck with our pattern but could not get a bite after about 10:00. For the last couple hours we fished main lake points and channel banks with everything from A-rigs to spinnerbaits and rock crawlers but only caught one more keeper and a bunch of shorts. It was definitely a fun day and we ended up winning the tournament, I just wish we could have figured out the afternoon bite a little more.

Nice fish! Looks like 36 to me. Anyone know when they put the boats out? I need to get out on lake 35..

Fished the spring branch today for smallies and trout with good success but decided to fish the river for my last two hours. I started off right below the park drifting a nymph and stripping a leech without any bites. I then picked up a tip from a nice man that the browns were biting further down stream so my brother and I headed that way. Since we only had an hour left we fished the first good looking spot we could find. My brother hooked three and caught one brown on spinning gear and I hooked up with one on a soft hackle but lost it right at the net. I have now decided that I prefer the challenge of fishing the red ribbion section over the spring branch and will be back soon with more time to fish.

I would love to try these craws out but I am not sure how to buy them. Do you all have a website I need to go to?

Personally I have caught way more sauger than walleye on the lower meramac. I agree this does look like a sauger

I just read a post in the striper forum about hybrids being stocked in certain Missouri lakes to keep shad populations down. One of the canservation areas mentioned was Busch wildlife. Does anyone know what lakes and if enough were even stocked to make them worth targeting? I know some people catch them in the bigger lakes on crappie gear and they are usually pretty small. I caught my first hybrid this year on a Missouri River tributary and now would like to target them other places regardless of size.

I have never caught one below valley park but I only fish from shore so I'm sure guys who have boats catch them farther down

I was fishing between Route 66 and castle wood in the eureka area

Seeing the cloudy weather this morning I had to go fish the river. after spending over an hour fishing cranks, grubs, and top water I switched to the ned rig and started getting some action. I lost the first 3 or 4 fish I hooked but finally brought in a decent little smallmouth. The action was good in only one little spot and I hooked 9 fish, only bringing 4 of them in. however as soon as the sun came out the fish shut down. The two pics are of my two biggest smallies today.

Nice! That is definitely a good day on the river. Do you access through unger park? Because when I fish that area I always access through a park on Marshall road and walk down the bank opposite to unger. I wasn't sure if there was an easier way to access because it is a long and sometimes muddy walk
