  1. Ever since the meramac has been low my brother and I have been fishing one of its tributaries almost every weekend. I won't name the exact river for obvious reasons but I'm sure most of the lower meramac guys on here have fished it. In the past month my brother and I have caught walleye, sauger, and all three types of bass on every trip with some nice ones. Last weekend we caught 2 walleye that were 15-18 inches and a smallie that was just shy of 19. Everything caught on cranks.
  2. I was just at this spot for about an hour this afternoon and only caught one gar. Not sure if the fish have moved or if they just weren't biting. Used crankbaits on the lower end of the island
  3. Been at the lake house since Saturday and have been doing pretty well for a variety of species. Crappie and whites have been biting under my dock lights at night while largemouth have been inconsistent but I have found some decent keepers flipping jigs under docks and swimming them parallel to bluffs. Also caught an 18' walleye off the dock on a jerkbait. Tomorrow I will be going to haha tonka to try for walleye and whites. hopefully I'll have something to report about afterwards
  4. Thanks a lot! I'll be sure to report back
  5. In a couple weeks I will be heading down to my family's lake house on the upper niangua arm of LOZ right above Ha Ha Tonka cove. I usually do well with bass fishing but this year I would like to target walleye in and around the cove. Last summer I caught two off of a point in the main lake using jerkbaits. However I have heard trolling cranks is the way to go. Any help would be appreciated
  6. Went out to lake 35 with my brother yesterday afternoon. Fished from about 2 to 7 with four inch swimbaits and three inch grubs. Overall a pretty good day. Probably caught over 30 dink largemouth between the two of us. Only caught a few crappie but most were good keepers. Also caught an 8 pound channel cat out in the middle of the lake on the swimbait. I'll be back there soon
  7. Thanks for the info I'll have to try for walleye another time
  8. I was planning on heading down to Clearwater dam early Monday morning to try for walleye before heading to duck creek lake later in the day. Should I rethink fishing this section of the river after all the rain we're had?
  9. Very true. I have found that out the hard way a few times. However I was wondering because I like to wade across a riffle below the mill dam at Rockford beach and fish from the bank opposite of the parking lot. This is very easy when the river is low but I'm not sure about it now
  10. The big river at byrnesville is around 3 gauges and falling. Is this low enough to wade in?
  11. Ok so I keep hearing all these reports of Muskies biting bass and crappie lures but does anyone have success with actual Muskie lures? I have some pretty nice buck tail spinners and a few oversized jerkbaits that worked well on Muskies up north. Would these be worth a shot or should I stick to bass lures?
  12. Good luck. The river looked pretty good today. I will be back on the river tomorrow afternoon
  13. Went out again today to some different creeks. Caught a bunch of small bass and just a few decent ones. Also caught my first bowfin. Does anyone else catch those around here? Iv never seen them before.
  14. I started the day off at the big river but didn't catch anything in the high muddy water. Since the meramec was also very muddy I fished a few of its feeder creeks. This was definitely the right move. Ended up with 14 spotted bass and my first smallmouth ever on the lower river. Most of the bass were about a pound or less, but the last creek I went to gave up at least four fish over two pounds. Also the last person who posted a report for the lower Meramec seemed to be on the same pattern so there must be something to it.
  15. Thanks for the report! I'm going tomorrow for sure. Hopefully it clears up a little bit
  16. Thanks I will keep that in mind. I'm assuming the big river near st Louis is not very fishable right now either?
  17. Yeah I had a feeling it would. How far up river would I need to go to get some fishable water?
  18. Tomorrow ill hopefully be bank fishing the lower Meramac and big rivers if the water level keeps getting lower. However will they still be as muddy?
  19. Iv been wanting to fish Byrnes Mill too.. But I think I'll wait now. High and muddy doesn't sound very promising. Thanks for the report
  20. Thanks a lot! That should help me out. I'll be back with a report soon for sure
  21. In a few weeks I will be heading down to Springfield for a college visit at MO state. During this time my family is staying at stillwaters resort on Indian point so of course I will be fishing. I'm not sure how much lake access there is here or how well I can do from the bank but I will give it a try. Also I have heard they rent kayaks here but I don't know if that applies to late winter/early spring. If I could get some tips on fishing in this area that would be great. I'm mostly a bass fisherman but I love to catch anything. Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the info. Also this post was supposed to be in the "other ozark waters" section
  23. Thinking about a winter trip here on a three day weekend coming up. Anyone been out latley? I will be fishing for trout and smallmouth
  24. Nice report, and I was wondering if it would be crowded for that reason. Also the lower half of the park was the same way last year. I hardly saw anything down there. But the year before there were tons down that way. I guess ill just never understand them
  25. Awesome thanks. Tomorrow looks like a perfect day for it
