Horns, Water Generation and a Fast River
LostMyWife replied to LostMyWife's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Thanks Phil I have had one uncomfotable situation in that area that turned out well. I do not intend to press my luck. -
1 Kings 3:9 Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” 10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.

Being here for such a short time, Hindsight is 20-20 was only the second article of Kens's that I have read. I found both to be a great read as well as informative. It did cause me to think, On our last trip to Taney, Rob and I were fishing below the MDC Ramp. We were at the bend right before Clay Banks. It was dusk, and the horn went off twice. As we had been instructed, we looked to see what other fishermen were doing and were surprised to see that no one was moving. The sun was almost gone, so we decided that the dark, rising water and rookies did not go together so we headed out. My questions: What actually happenes when the horn blows. What does it mean when the horn blows more than once? How long after the horns before the water gets dangerous? How much does the water rise? Is there anything else that I should know? To be honest, Ken's article was a bit unnerving.

Ya know Dano you're right. Why, you should just use those adminstrator powers of yours and kill the whole topic. Although, if you did that, Terry might tke you off his letter to Santa Claus. -
Terry It's nice to know that Rob and are were #1 on your list. I think I'm gonna cry. I know for ao fact that Santa is a Single malt kinda guy. At least that's what he always drank when he came to my house. Merry Christmas LMW Very true, but Solomon was talking to God, not Santa

Time is open. Some guys will be there early some late. The original timeframe was around 8 or 8:30. The noon part came in because some guys can't get there until noon. Dano thought that would be a good time for us to get together for some lunch.

Hey GF What if we all wore snow shoes on our wading boots. The footing would be great and the surface area would distribute our weight in such a way as to not disturb the river bottom. -
Will this make me the "Bionic Man?"

We may need to have a collection so Terry can get a laptop and a wireless network so he can type from bed while he is taking drugs. Can you imagine what would come out of that guy under the influence of narcotic painkillers. -

This is great. The fly fishing network and the "Head Guide" for somewhere is talking about shuffling like it is a great new idea that will revolutionize fly fishing. Now, speaking from personal experience, and being ignorant of the facts and ettiquette of fishing at Taney, Robbie and I shuffled for days and did not catch a thing. Now we did not know we were shuffling at the time. Maybe that is the problem. You see, we thought we were simply walking carefully on slick rocks so that we did not fall into the icey water and drown. That must be it. You can't shuffle if you don't know that you are shuffling. Maybe that's why all those guys down stream were just tearing it up and catching all those fish. -
My First Fish, OK it was a an easy mistake

Terry I can only assume that you are speaking from personal experience. I am sure you would not give me bad advice or advice that would get me thrown in MDC jail, right? -

GF I can't believe you are trying to get me arroested. If I did that in the trohpy area the other fishermen would drown me and the MDC would hall me off. Boy, you catch one little crrek chub and the forum turns against ya. -

That is exactly what I planon doing this summer. We are 5 hours frpm taney. But we have made it our plan to get down there one time a month, even it is just for a day. But, we live in a community that has 2 lakes. One small fishing lake that is full of crappie, bluegill and bass, and a larger lake that has it all. Can you take a catfish on a fly? We plan on hitting Su Twan and throwing poppers off the dam for bluegill and crappie. We just got started a bit too late in the year. -
You guys are right on the money. I deal with guest service problems every day of my life. When you run restaurants, you run into all kinds on BOTH sides of the counter. I seem to spend half my life apologising to someone for something that someone else said or did. It gives me a whole different perspective when I go into a business. You can tell if someone is swamped or if they are simply slackin. But I try to fall of the side of the guy working. I learned to tip better as well. You have to appreciate good service. I use the same fly shop most of the time. I have been in 3 in the Branson area, but mostly with one. I like it when people recognize me or know me by name. It makes me feel like my business is important to them. You do not get that from the "Big Box". Besides, if it weren't for the small shops, I'd have to steal flies out of guys cars while they were fishing.

You know Phil, that sounds like my last two fishing trips to Taney Welcome back

Ok, there are two pavillions right. Looks like we may need them.

Terry Good Luck. You should be very happy with the results. I had my hip replaced 2 years ago. The doctor that had been treating me for 15 years says which hip are we doing. I told him if he had to ask, I was a bit worried. They made us BOTH sign the hip that was getting replaced. I never had a doctor sign my butt until that day. -

Well, since I am allergic to nuts, I don't know. But I am sure she will accomodate special requests from certain people. May I assume your nut of choice is the regal walnut?
