Thanks guys, watched the FLW tournament on Beaver again the other day......looks like I could really get a workout chasing bass......and other species. My goal would be to land a nice career in NWA, get a house on Beaver or in Bella Vista, and enjoy the beautiful area there. Will see if I can put my experience and MBA to use for someone, if given the opportunity. Good fishing folks, it's going to be a Great year!

No worries, I like to eat fish, but I DO believe strongly in management of fish and game, and abiding by laws including bag limits. Never been a trophy hunter of either, as I simply love the outdoors. I have heard Walleye are great eating, and caught my one and only on Beaver lake. Released it. You guys have a nice diversity of fish, Smallmouth, Trout, and Walleye that we do not have hear in Louisiana. I am really looking forward to doing more fishing in NWA. If any of you guys have any job leads in a good career/company, please send me a personal message. My background is heavy in business, and I completed my MBA recently to be qualified and competitive in the job market in NWA. Thanks much folks, and Good Fishing!

Sometimes you get lucky What size reel are you using, and line? Thanks.

Thanks guys. Yes, hopefully I get the opportunity to move to NWA, I have fished it's waters several times, always a joy. JD, caught many bass in Bella Vista last May, all released

This was here in Northern LA - I have been actively pursuing career opportunities in NWA so wanted to share on this site. Perhaps I can land a new career soon and enjoy NWA Was fishing a small creek with a 1/8 oz jig, with my Clarus 5.0 UL with Pflueger 25 sized President Limited = she weighed 5 1/2 lbs, caught off the bank. A lot of fun and unexpected to hook, and land this girl. Often run 6lb test P-Line CX but believe I had 8lb on this reel. Really gave me confidence on what can be done on light tackle. Chose this rod in the past as it had more backbone than other UL rods. I was targeting White bass, Crappie, and bass 2-3 lb that I have normally caught in the past. I did not try powering the fish, just let it play itself out, had my drag set where she pulled a bit of line here and there when she made a few runs, but she did not take out much and it may have kept my line from breaking along with a limber rod. Just wanted to pass it on. Hope all are off to a Great 2017.

Plan to use the 1000 for panfish and possibly light bass 2500 more for larger fish i.e. Bass, and similar. Will likely use 6lb mono/flouro and/or 8 or 10lb braid on the 1000 The 2500 will either run 8 mono/fouro and/or around 20lb braid. Thoughts are something around 6 - 6'8 or so in Light or possibly ML with fast tip on the 1000, and more likely ML if not Medium power fast tip for the 2500. Figure the bass need a harder hook set. Never caught Walleye's but that may be in future plans, so not sure how hard a hook set is needed for them. Thoughts/feedback by experienced Spin fisherman appreciated. Any recs on rods, and/or line appreciated. Looking at Avid and Premier line if it matters. Want lightweight and sensitive....as one might imagine which is why I am looking at St. Croix. Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much Robert, I just learned about a job fair May 11 in Rogers, and likely postponing this trip. I want to make the most of my time when job hunting and a recruiter told me things have tightened up since the layoff Walmart had in December. However, if a solid career opportunity presents and the company is wanting to have an interview prior to then, I am willing to come up as needed. I Sincerely appreciate your help Sir. Thank you!

I have enjoyed using CX and next to XL has been what I have been running. Using up some old XL on a reel or two, but P-line CX has never disappointed. Thanks much. Btw, do any of you use the hi-vis lines, and if so in clear water? Curious if that works as well on getting strikes, vs clear?

Thanks guys, Robert, focused on various career opportunities in a management capacity, but open to many things in Business. I have a Marketing degree and background (heavy in Pharma/Biotech/Medical Device and also worked as a Financial Consultant Series 7 for A.G. Edwards), and again I earned my Executive MBA in 2014. I have been looking at WalMart and actively talking to them the past two years, and getting my MBA was predominantly b/c alot of those jobs I was interested in require and/or prefer an MBA. Also been in touch with Tyson, as well as the vendor community. I am open to hear about many things. Plans have me coming in on Tuesday. I have been visiting the area dozens of times over the past 20 years or so. Always love it there Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions.

I will have to check ou tthat Yozuri, heard about it, so it's low memory I am guessing? Also, great info gang on the knots. Re: Palomar, that original P-knot is what I have been using on braid, but I need to use the double, surely less likely to fail. Good stuff to know. I have 2 spools of 10# PowerPro - thought of filling up a reel or two. Sounds like a leader is best for max amount of strikes, and I do like to haul 'em in like you folks! Thanks again guys - very helpful info and vids! Cliff

That link is going to take some time to digest, thanks! Sounds like a Braid w/leader is a good way to go. What knot do you guys use? I know there are a few. SO if I am "Bank Fishing" I hope I have some shoreline to run! Lol. Good stuff folks. Yes, hear in La, alot of water is dirty but some not too bad. I have not had as much success it seems on Crappie with braid to lure. On Bass, it seems they hit when you put something in front of them. Braid has many great qualities to be sure, but no doubt a clear leader might be the best overall way to go in clearer water as I have had a hunch the fish are more fickle, especially Crappie with Braid to lure vs say P-line. Thanks guys. Anyone else wanting to chime in please do so. Also, if anyone has a lead (no pun ) on any jobs, let me know. Thanks all. Hopefully the water will clear up a bit there, and the white bass start making a good run. Sounds like they have not been in their prime yet.

Hi folks, planning to be in the area next week for several days for job hunting, I have several spinning outfits I plan to bring and hope to use. Most are set up with 6 or 8# P-Line CX and a few with braid on extra spools. Since your water is often very clear, is P-line going to be much more effective in catching fish? Is the 6 or 8# enough on most fish? I know there are some large Stripers on occasion, wondered what it would take to handle one. I took one 5 to 6lb a few years ago on an UL outfit with 6 mono. Is my P-line CX enough for larger fish? Not concerned on typical bass, walleye, or panfish, etc. as I feel this should do. Here in LA there are often so many snags you sometimes need heavier line especially with larger fish. It seems most of the water in your area is often open so I would assume lighter line is fine. Thanks for chiming in gang. Cliff

I am coming to the Rogers, AR area next week for career searching and perhaps can get a little fishing in. My background is heavy in healthcare Marketing with a recent Executive MBA. If anyone knows of some job opportunities in the northwest AR area, please advise. I also may try to meet a buddy from Bella Vista who is going to the Roaring River in MO next weekend. I also would like to try some fishing at the Twin Bridges area, as I have fished there before. Anyone who wants to chime in on either topic please do so, or send me a PM. Thank you guys/gals. Cliff

Nice thread. I am currently living in the Shreveport, LA area, been to the Northwest Arkansas area dozens of times visiting a college buddy, enjoying fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc. I hope to be back in about 2 weeks to do a little job hunting, and definitely some fishing. My goal is to land a decent career in the Rogers/Bentonville area and move there in the coming months. My background is heavy in the Healthcare industry (Marketing/Sales) and I earned/completed my Executive track MBA in 2014. If anyone has any job leads, please feel free to contact me. My email is cliffcasino1@hotmail.com - No I do not gamble but we have many casino's here in town. I can forward a resume etc to you or anyone you might know. Lastly, my passion in my spare time is the great outdoors and I dearly love the area. I love to use ultra-light tackle as much as possible, and if I move in that direction, might take up fly-fishing. I have fished Twin Bridges, stream below Beaver Dam, and a few small lakes around the area. I would be happy to try meeting up with some folks who live in the Rogers area. I have friends in Fayetteville, Rogers, and Bella Vista. I do have a long-standing connection with Arkansas, I won the Jr. World Champion Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Ar when I was 13. Just a few years ago It looks like a bunch of good folks on this forum. I have spent a lot of time on the 24hourcampfire site....where I have nearly 13k posts. I plan to fish/hunt more than post on forums going forward, but feel this might be forum I frequent often going forward if I move up there given the fishing opportunities. Thanks for reading folks, and Good Fishing! Cliff

I run 5 and 5'6" Clarus UL - that feel like Light - stiffer than many/most UL - allowing me to get a good hookset, as well as fight bigger fish, and throw heavier baits. Run a Pflueger 6920 on the 5 and a Supreme MGX 8225 on the longer one. 6 P-line CX and 15 PP on the other respectively.

Ul And Light Spinning - Mono Vs Flouro/co-Polymer Vs Braid ?
6.5BR replied to 6.5BR's topic in General Angling Discussion
Anyone trying something new this year? -
Anyone used spinners of both to see if one catches better? Bought many of all types and colors recently, was running a bare hooked Vibrax the other day in clear water, watched a largemouth bass come up to it, and stopped just short of taking it, looked like it took a small 'nibble' but let go, NEVER felt the hit, but saw him do it. In the past, absolutely HAMMERED Sand Bass in semi dirty water w/an old Mepps Agila, #2 or 3, w/bare hook. Wondering if dressing the bare hooks would have any downside, and perhaps upside or if the area I was fishing has had so much fishing pressure they were fickle? My brother and I kept 14 fish, 3 had plastics in them, 2 of those had hooks too! The one that did not had 2 plastics in the belly. So pressure was high this spawning season so it appears! Thanks in advance for any who can reply.

Ul And Light Spinning - Mono Vs Flouro/co-Polymer Vs Braid ?
6.5BR replied to 6.5BR's topic in General Angling Discussion
More great feedback, I was correct assuming this forum would be full of much experience! Looks like I have some experimenting to do but I have lots of ideas, which have been tested in the field! I look forward to learning much on this site. Thanks all very much for sharing what works for each of you, sincerely! -
Ul And Light Spinning - Mono Vs Flouro/co-Polymer Vs Braid ?
6.5BR replied to 6.5BR's topic in General Angling Discussion
Mitch, you make a good point, I get hung up alot down here in Louisiana where I fish, but I just got addicted this past Spring hauling in White bass on a UL spin outfit, even pulled in a Hybrid/Striper about 4-5lbs. I was shocked I landed it, I use heavier gear also at times, but for the small lures and esp. when after either bream, white perch, and various smaller bass, I just Love the fight on light gear. I have handled about every rod at my local Bass Pro and many also at Cabela's. I am about convinced that I will be using a Light and or ML rod in the near future w/either my 25 or 30 size Pflueger Supreme MG, BUT will use 6# unless braid on the 25 and perhaps 8# on the 30. I accept losing some lures, b/c again, the fight is just all the more fun and that's why I fish - fun So are you suggesting braid for what I do? It's very compelling as I'd likely bend hooks and save lures. I have Medium rods in Spinning w/a Plueger 8035 Supreme MG and another w/a Penn Battle 3000, both for bass and the later being for salt water so Red Fish are on the menu, and Flounder as well as Speckled Trout. I actually took a browning UL reel on a 6ft Light rod down to the coastal marsh and used it w/6# for a bit while doing some live bait bottom fishing, landed a nice black drum about 4-5# which was my largest fish on light tackle next to the Hybrid/striper mentioned above. That fight was the most fun of the trip, though I caught several flounder, specks, and reds on baitcast and spinning gear w/Medium Rods and much heavier line. As to the Ozarks, I have fished a bit up there for trout and white bass in NW Arkansas, and hope to do much more in the future, perhaps in other states like MO and TN. Again, for me, it's just all about the fun factor using light tackle and the smaller fish sure give you a little more action when using UL and L gear. Love to hear if anyone has used the lighter braid lines on light spinning gear w/success, or not. Thanks all. -
Ul And Light Spinning - Mono Vs Flouro/co-Polymer Vs Braid ?

Great info guys! Sincerely appreciate the feedback Old MFU - assuming you use on spinning, any memory issues w/the original and is it as strong being thinner? I tried the Pline CX this a.m. - my first use of a Flouro/copolymer - and it def is a big improvement in sensitivity and getting a light lure down, less stretch, etc and it cast very well. If the Vicious proves as good, it's cheaper on ebay and made in the USA Looks like the YoZuri hybrid 6lb is also priced well also. Thanks again folks, and if anyone else wants to chime in please do. -
I fish alot of UL and Light Spinning gear for a variety of fish, much in water that is not very clear. Considering using Flouro or co-p line like P-Line CXX for allow my llght jigs, spinners, and spoons to sink more and get more 'strike feel' - most of my fishing has been done with either 6 and sometimes 8lb mono, the 6 mostly on UL, and the 8 on other light setups. Using Pflueger 6920 President, and the Surpreme MG in 8025 and 8030 size. The first 2 usually 6# but tend to use 8# on the '30' reel. I fish alot of areas creeks/rivers w/alot of stumps/brush and rocks. Panfish, white/hybrids, largemouth bass have been most common, though will hope to do more trout n walleye in the future, and smallmouth. Would you use P-Line CXX and/or Seagar (Bass pro rep advised yellow/blue package) over MONO or another brand? Lastly, I am thinking braid may be a good idea to reduce lost lures. Thinking 10 or 20# Power Pro might be great. I get alot of abrasion on line due to rocks in one river. I am sure others have faced this dilema balancing line strength, low memory for spinning gear, a line to sink and take the slack out while reducing stretch, etc. to allow more strike 'feel' and hook ups. Thoughts? Thanks for all in advance
