It caught my attention once several years ago when I was staying in mammoth springs fishing on spring river, I noticed it had a lot more water in it than it normally does when I was driving over the 63 bridge one afternoon after fishing the spring so I decided to go down to the town boat ramp in thayer and fish it. I put my waders on and started fishing with my ultralight spinning outfit and a small rapala crank and caught several smallmouth in the 8-10in range and one that was probably 16. went back the next morning and didn't do as good although I did catch a couple of trout, it was in early april and I guess the water was still cold enough for the trout. I don't think I would make a special trip to fish it, but if your in the area and fishing on spring river or the 11point and it has enough water in it you can catch some fish.

I was wondering if anybody fished down river around the guion area for smallmouth,or black bass of any kind, my brother and I were fishing down there one febuary day years ago and caught a few trout but not any bass but we did see a school of nice size largemouth or spotted bass by a big root wad just down stream of the boat ramp and I have always wanted to make it back down there to bass fish. I have a vacation coming up and was wondering if it would be worth a trip back down there.

fished crooked creek thur. at kellys slab before the rain, it was reallly low and clear, probably as low as I have seen it so my expectations for catching fish wasn't very high, but I was to be pleasantly surprised. lucky for me the weather was cool and cloudy because I had to probably walk about a mile and half down stream before I found some deep water that looked like it would hold some desent fish. I took my flyrod and my spinning rod in case one technique worked better than the other started fishing with the spinning rod first and used a small pumpkin colored slider soft plastic bait threaded on a 1/32oz. crome headed jig and started catching smallmouth and rock bass/ goggle eye. the smallmouth weren't very big at first, but the smaller fish that I was catching began to attract bigger smallmouth and before long I had on a 17in. smallmouth. after the 17incher I began to catch bigger smallmouth in the 10 to 12in range, I really lost count of how many smallmouth I caught and I probably caught more rock bass or just as many than smallmouth. I was really surprised when I switched to my flyrod and caught 2 carp on a #12 olive woolybugger. I caught some more smallmouth and rockbass on the fly rod before I just got too tired to catch another fish and desided to call it a day.

fished the 11 point wed. afternoon at greer after it warmed up a bit, turned out to be a beautiful day and the fishing was good, fished mostly above the bridge and the water was lower than I've ever seen it, very easy to wade and get to the fish though. I tried a black stonefly nymph first and didn't get any takes so I desided to try streamer fishing and tied on a #10 nearnuff sculpin and started to catch fish, the largest was a brilliant colored 15in. rainbow, all together probably caught around 12 to 14 all stream bread fish and some of the most brilliant colored fish that I've caught in that river. I did fish downstream of the boat ramp and caught 3 in the slick water right above the first run below the ramp. the water was really clear and I saw a lot of fish in the river, some really nice ones right below the ramp.

fished the northfork this past fri. after the rain finally stopped around 4:00, saw some fish sipping emergers above patrick bridge so I tied on a #16 partridge and orange soft hackle and walked up the path through the woods untill I found a good place to walk in, started to drift the soft hackle and before long had on a heathy 8in. rainbow, fished about 2 hours and caught 7 more fish, all very skinny browns the biggest was propably 9in. I was really surprised at how skinny the browns were, the water level looked pretty good though and as an after thought I probably should have fished below the bridge where it looked like the water was deeper and might have held some larger fish, I had a good time though, after sitting in the hotel room all day watching it rain.
