  1. If the shallow stuff (pockets, coves, up the rivers) have cooled that much, am I wrong for thinking the best bet will be to target fish that had not made the shallow move in the first place? Thinking of fish that might have still been staging, especially from Kimberling eastward.
  2. Anyone have current temps from Sunday afternoon, especially from Kimberling back towards Campbell?
  3. Heard the dragging bite was pretty solid last weekend around the first flat rocks off the banks. Some nest fish also, mix of all 3 species. That was a club tournament out of Schooner Creek with 60+ water. Hope they have just pulled out a bit more with the cool down. Will find out Tuesday. Any thoughts on how many warm days it might take for them to pull back up? As far along as they were, I am hoping a couple warm afternoons might make them go nuts.
  4. Not sure where the prior post is, but I got the impression someone (SKMO maybe?) was using foam tape to float the head. Was looking for confirmation that this is the tape used to put up posters, etc. Bought some and will try it, although maybe not next week as it will probably be back to colder weather gear. I have successfully used suspendots or strips to help weight the back half of the front section (just ahead of the joint). It seems to help.
  5. Bill, appreciate the reply. Guess I have just never started throwing it early enough, usually waiting for 60+ water. I normally throw fins & spooks on 15# big game for the float effect, sort of hit and miss with the tails depending on how they are eating the bait. Tails do seem to enhance the wiggle. At lower temps what sort of banks are you looking for? I usually throw it on points, over gravel areas where fish are working, and on big swing banks with cedars. Thanks again.
  6. Saw the post from a few days ago regarding some redfin fish. Is that just an early thing due to the warm spring or do you think it is about ready to go? Will be down the week following Easter and would love for them to be grabbing that fin. Also one Q regarding an earlier post that referenced using foam mounting tape on fins. I usually weight mine at the back of the front section and have played with bending bills but have not tried (or actually heard of) the tape. Is there a particular area of the front section where it works better? Or is it just a stick some on and try it out deal? Thanks much, appreciate all the info on all of the pages.
  7. Not sure where you are staying but my choices (and I will be at Kimberling the week of mother's day): Spooks / chuggers early on main lake points, major points back in creeks, or around boat docks. French fry / fish doctor / finesse worm on carolina or split shot rig on flat gravel banks and points for post spawn fish. If you see fish breaking you can catch some swimming a spoon or smoke grub thru and under the breaking fish, or fishing a grub or spoon vertically around the shad (assuming that is why they are breaking). Probably a little early for drop shot, but maybe if it gets warm and stays that way... Worked ok for me during same period last spring from Kimberling back to Shell Knob. I usually stay out of the Kings and James that time of year. Would not presume to make suggestions for Kimberling to the dam, as that end of the lake hates me.
