  1. Hey Fisherpeoples- Plateau Fly Shop & Missouri Spirits House in association with Pig Farm Ink are hosting an Iron Fly Event down at Missouri Spirits House @ 507 W. Walnut, Springfield, MO on Nov. 29th from 5-10 pm. There is Free Admission and a bunch of door prizes including: A Yeti 45 Qt Cooler Redington Path Rod & Reel Outfit Fly Boxes Simms Nippers Shirts, Stickers, Hoo Rags from SWC, SCOF and others. Brad Bohen and Brian Wise are going to be there serving cocktails! Or not, but they will be there..... The actual Iron Fly Event is a concept based on Iron Chef where you get a mystery box of ingredients and create your own dish. Well, with Iron Fly you get a mystery bag of materials and you create your own fly. Said fly does not have to be fishable. It just has to be creative. So, every skill level of fly tier is welcome to attend. And, we will show you the basics of how to tie if you are not a tier. Everyone is welcome and this event will be a hoot. All materials, vises, etc. will be provided. Grand Prize for the Iron Fly will be a: TFO 10th Anniv. Special Edition 8'6" #5 Fly Rod W/ Tube The Evening's Event is to Include: Iron Fly Geofish, Connect, and Other Fly Fishing Videos on MSH's 9'x16' Big Screen Springfield's Worst Tattoo The Ozark's Fastest Whip Finisher Competition BBQ Available for Purchase Libations by Missouri Spirits House Fun and Frivolity (as allowed by law) The venue is located at 507 W. Walnut which is just East of Caspers or just West of the Square on Walnut. Under 21 years of age are welcome as we will ID. Women are even welcome to attend! Come on down, drink from Missouri Spirits distilled goodness and have a time. Hope to see ya there!
  2. Used to have a 20'36" Supreme that was miserable to use in flat water with anything over a 3.5 MPH wind (even with a trolling motor). A trout would fart and it would push the bow around. It had no keel, no real internal stability/reinforcement, and the box front caused serious hull slap in the chop. Don't get me wrong.....I loved the boat. And, I can't speak for either the 48" or 60" bottom Supremes because I have no experience with them, however, I sold my Supreme and purchased an 18'48" bottom aluminum Mod. V and have been very happy with it in comparison to the 2036. You can run up on the bank and not worry about effecting the gel coat, it cuts through rougher water, will go nearly as shallow as the Supreme and it rides more comfortably. It is hotter than Hades in the Summer, but, that's fixable. Two people can comfortably fly fish out of it with oarlocks in the middle. Good luck dude.
  3. Hey folks. We've had such positive feedback from our sale that we're extending the 15% discount through Christmas. In addition, all of the artwork from both Diane Michelin and Derek de Young are on sale for 25% off the tagged price. Thanks again for all the support!
  4. Grand Opening Week Dec. 8th thru Dec. 16th 15%Discount Win a Sage 9' 5wt Fly Rod! We're officially OPEN! In celebration, we are offering a 15% discount from Dec. 8th through the 16th ON ALL ITEMS (excluding rods, reels, binoculars, and scopes). And, on December 15th, we'll stage a raffle where we'll give away a 9' 5 weight Sage Response Fly Rod, an SW Outfitters waist pack, a sweet pair of Alpen binoculars, hats, stickers, and a fly box full of flies. 5. Hey all….thanks for both the kind words in this thread and the patronage from those coming in the store since we’ve opened our doors. It’s taken us a tad longer to open than originally planned because of the remodel, so, thank you for the patience. We have a bunch of names on our email list and will eventually be sending out a monthly newsletter with our sales items, fishing reports, etc., etc….until then, I just wanted to let everyone know our business hours are from 9am - 6:30pm Monday through Saturday and 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Sunday. Those hours are relevant through Christmas at which time we’ll be closed on either Sunday or Monday (maybe both…we have to have a day or two to fish). Our flyrod selection is massive. Come in a wiggle one around or go out to our custom asphalt pond and cast at Fin and Feather’s John Mooney‘s Chevy Suburban. Our Sage inventory includes The One, Circa, TCX, VXP, Response and Approach. Scott lineup includes S4’s, A4’s and a sweet little fiberglass F2 4weight. Other rods include Hardy Zenith, Greys Streamflex, a large selection of TFO BVK, Professional II, Signature II and Bluewater series, Redington Combos and a few St. Croix’s. We are also doing a gear exchange…old for new. Our reel selection is very similar to our rod selection, in that, we’ve tried to cover all levels…...Tibor, Abel, Galvan, Ross, Hardy, Grey’s, and Redingtons. On the lower end, Redington’s are priced at $39.95 and the new Grey’s cassette reels are pretty sweet with a reel and three cassettes starting at $85. And, on the upper end, the Billy Pate Tarpon reels are not only beautiful, they will be fully functional after the zombie apocalypse. We’ve also expanded the tying materials. We are culling out the non sellers and getting in new and improved selections of materials. Give me a few months to get the material section dialed in, so, if we don’t carry an item you use, let me know and I’ll get it included in our next order. Other brands we carry include: Renzetti and Terra vises priced from $15 and up. Simms waders, boots, jackets, waist packs, flasks, bottle openers, etc. Korkers boots. Redington Waders and boots. A big selection of Filson items. Fishpond bags, hip packs, chest packs, and sling bags. Measure nets up to the Guide model. Smith Optics. Surefire lights. Havalon Knives. Dr. Slick. Alpen Binoculars priced at half off MSRP….get them while they last because they more than likely won’t be back when they’re gone. Orvis endorsed artist of the year Diane Michelin artwork including original works and prints. Derek De Young stickers, mugs, pilsner glasses, mouse pads, coasters, etc. And, perhaps the coolest items in the shop are the Plateau Fly Shop stickers, T Shirts, hoodies, hats, long sleeve T shirts, and sweatshirts. There’s a free T-Shirt with a $20 purchase until the shirts run out and a free sticker with a $10 purchase….one t-shirt or sticker per customer. We also have a bargain bin that is getting added to daily….a bunch of Frog Hair leader and tippet is going in tomorrow… We’ll have tying classes starting after the first of the year. Tuesday nights @ 7:00 pm. Vises, bobbin and scissors required. We’ll provide the materials for the specific flies during the session. I’ll have firm dates and types of flies covered next month. And, oh yeah, we’re going to have a grand opening! Date is Saturday, December 15th. We’ll have hourly door prizes from 12 - 6 pm….the prizes have yet to be determined but there will either be a rod or a reel included in the prizes. Discounts in the shop include 15% off all wearables (waders, boots, etc.). We’ll also grill some food, have finger foods, soft drinks, water, and a cooler full of ice ready for ancillary beverages of your choice. Once again, thanks for all the support and thank you Phil for letting me post on your site. -Jim Plateau Fly Shop 2863 S. Campbell Ave. Springfield, MO 65807
