I will be making my first trip to bennet srings oct 14 15. I normally go to montauk so i have no clue were to fish in bennet. I fly fish so i would like to stay away from the bait fishermen as much as possible if it is possible. i was just wondering what part of the park to fish and if anyone has any pointers anything is appreciated! Thanks!
I started saturday morning fishing in the fly area only above the white oak hole around 10am. I caught 6 on a black midge..fished for about a hour there the tool a lunch break then headed outside the park and fish from tan-vat to below the rocks and caught 4 and turned 2. I fished there for about a hour then headed down to baptist camp and fished for an hour and didn't catch a fish I threw a couple different patterns but couldn't even get a bit this was the first time I have fished there and didn't catch a fish...so I headed back to the park and fished in the fly area above the catch and release and did pretty good and was still catching a lot of fish on the midge. So overall it was a pretty good weekend i had my wife with me so I couldn't wonder off all day and fish favorite spots on the river but I still made the best of the weekend
Got down to lillys Thursday morning this is the only the second time I have ever been down to taneycomo and it was a blast! I was fly fishing with scuds nymphs below a indicator and caught a lot of fish and hooked in to the biggest fish of my life I would say a 4-5 pound 20 inch brown but I had 6x tippet on and he got in the current and I just couldn't get him close enough to net but it was a blast fighting a fish like that I had the feeling of watching a big buck walking my way. I love how all the fish are a nice size. My normal trout fishing destination is montauk and I love fishing in the fly area and outside the park but fishing Taney is so much better! Cannot wait to come back again in the spring and hopefully land a big fish!
