I saw the pictures, they were pretty fish.

The Johnson's in Baldwin MI. had a neat double egg pattern. I could never tie it, but it was effective. Phil, do you know the one I'm talking about? The one with one egg tied on mono?

The more researchers involved, the more intelligence to tap and its easy to see that with the present stem cell supply the genetics are also getting thin. The fact that a stem cell is a building block to life, can it be that much different then an egg or sperm? Stem cell research goes beyond disease and can mimic some of the healing of Jesus. How can that be bad?

The best gloves I've found are Sealskinz. They aren't insulated but they are waterproof and they breath to keep your hands dry, and dry seems to be the key. Stick a hand warmer in a pocket and you can recover some heat when needed.

Stem cell research will in all likelihood lead to some outstanding medical breakthroughs, just as genetics are doing at a blazing pace. I'm in Al and Dans camp in that we should allow the research as long as it satisfies the majorities concerns for ethics and morality. The issue of life is deemed simple by the media, but it runs from the preconception level of Catholicism to those who believe life begins with the first breath. The fact is that even Roe vs Wade has allowances for anti abortion laws, so even this law doesn't really take the firm stance its credited with. The bottom line is that there is no way to please all, but everyone is going to have to decide whether the chance to save a life is worth protecting a potential life.

I crossed it this week and it is extremely low. I would imagine it will be fishing from hole to hole. If you decide on the spinning, small jigs should work well. Bring your walking shoes.

My Brother in Law and his dad fished yesterday, out of Lilley's to 65 and did well trolling lures. I won't bother with the lure names because they were each using a different type and color, and it didn't seem to matter.

I'm not belittling anyone, nor was I doing anything other than pointing out that if you are going to be very specific, you might want consider that these forums get a lot of traffic. This one has been viewed 567 times, and that is a big audience. I have repeatedly said that I would share more specific information via PM, but even then I probably will leave a little to make sure its still fishing.

I like length, it just as representative of a fish as weight is, and much easier to obtain. Its popular in Smallmouth circles to use length, and it works well. They also stick with inches, a 17 3/4 is the same as an 18 1/4, both are 18's.

There's a native Algae that occurs here and that is "Snot" like, but it seems to favor warm slow waters.

In my first post stikrz! You also mentioned shuffling. Terry, I did overlook the multiple limit days, and I've seen a few of those also.

Interesting, while I've had the little bandits get in to everything else, never a cooler. I guess they are expanding their opportunities.

rwolf, I wouldn't think you would want "break" the jaw like you do with the Sunfish family, but I wouldn't think gripping the jaw inline would hurt.

Depending on the water, I shuffle sometimes also, and I think many do. Its fishing in the current break off the toes that makes it a little different. I'm personally torn as to what I hate the worse, shuffling to catch fish, kicking fish back into the water, or the 5 minute photo sessions?

I'm not sure that there is any spawning in most streams to worry about. There are exceptions, but I don't think the parks qualify. To answer your question, they don't seem to change a lot, fishing can be great at Taney during the spawning runs. Shuffling is simply unsportsmanlike in the mind of many, mine included. I like to know I can fool one once in a while, not hide a fly in a storm of bottom debris.

I saw one good string this spring, but the school was apparently the only one. I didn't do any good, or see anyone else besides the one. I don't think it will improve much until the creeks flow normal.

To grip a fish you either have to hold it tight enough to bulge its eyes or cut through its protective coating. I agree with motroutbum, use a net and remove the hooks without touching them.

Given the location, its possible that you hit a stocked location the first day. Its not unusual in the parks to have the experience you had, especially if you fish the same location in successive days.

Russ, we've been over this before, but the fact remains that on an open forum statements are made to large crowds, even if only one ask the question. I have no doubt that Bork wants to share his information with the forum members, and those who aren't, but there is still a question of how best to do it. I'm of the opinion that everything but "Under the highway 60 bridge" was fine, the Spring is a long river, as you well know. At that point he could share by PM with those he felt he could trust to know the exact location. This is something learned in time and Terry Beeson is a good example. If you've been around the forums in this area then you know Terry is strictly a C&R fisherman, so one shouldn't be concerne about sharing with him, the same can't be said for the multiple people who have viewed the thread
