Al we are market driven and that is written in stone. You bring up Ethanol and Corn, but Ethanol was brought into the market to get rid of Corn, not to make fuel. I agree that corn isn't the best raw resource, but for Missouri and states that are producing the bulk of Ethanol it is. If the plains states would start making it from Prairie Grass, corn farmers would be scrambling to produce cheap corn, and cheap corn is likely to be environmentally friendly. Auto companies? The flex engines in Brazil are American, its not a lack of technology, it a lack of fuel, which means no market for the cars. Instead of bashing oil companies for high profits, they should be given incentives to invest in alternate fuels, after all they have the storage and delivery systems already in place. You do this with tax incentives, not by bashing people who mention the word. The people have the power, they have just lost the ability to use it wisely.

The search for alternative fuels is picking up speed and the cost of oil, not just in dollars but in many ways, is becoming too expensive and insecure. The wheels have been set in motion, and even the leaders in Iran and Venezuela can see the handwriting on the wall, hence their bid for more power before they lose the only chips they have.

Well I had to look. It seems the Palmetto Bass is a Striper egg fertilized with White bass sperm. The opposite is the Sunshine Bass, White Bass egg, etc. Apparently the Palmetto is the most popular, but I didn't find anything suggesting that one grew faster or larger than the other. The World Record, according to the Kansas site, is 27 lbs 5 ozs.

Don, in my experience, the stockers do better when marinated and smoked whole. You might try adding some salt to your recipe and then thinning it to allow the trout to marinate. Just a thought.

I like your idea Phil, it follows the Ozarkangler theme of being somewhat specific. I think this forum is unique in the fact that it avoids the occasional reference from being lost to the more popular subjects. There is no other forum that, that I'm aware of, that details the great resources of the region.
