  1. You are wrong Vacation, the lake was built by man, the 200 year old Oak that the landing couldn't accommodate was a gift from God. You claim that that the landing is just another natural progression in the growth of the areas popularity, but we, well some, just voted an increase in the sales tax, the reason given was it was needed for promotion of the area,......which is falling off in attraction! The biggest reason I here for people looking elsewhere is the crowds. Crowds are bad because of the number of people, but because of the lack of space for the number of people. If the powers that be thought more about bringing back the laid back, stress-less atmosphere that built Branson, everyone would be better off, except maybe the investment bankers. The type of investment and entertainment that Lilley and Babler bring will always have repeaters, unless people can't take the long periods parked on 76, trying to get to their establishments.
  2. I wouldn't think many would argue with that, now if the legislature will just realize that.
  3. Canoe is gone.
  4. Wouldn't that be DNR's job?
  5. Now those are funny! 6 horsepower limit, but water skiing permitted, for Squirrels? No bathing, wading or swimming in Fellows, but water skiing is permitted. I suppose you must launch from a dock or something, and you are prohibited from falling?? I think its obvious that the city isn't getting good advice on what they should allow, and not allow.
  6. TR is one of the few lakes to have a good population of Rock Bass, A.K.A. Goggle eye, and they are no slouch in the pan either.
  7. Phil maybe this would be a good place for Dave to let everyone know how to make a complaint, what a reasonable complaint is, and how much information is necessary. I'm thinking possibly a pinned article laying out what authority the DNR has and what information needs to accompany a complaint.
  8. I agree that individual concerns directed at the DNR can't hurt. If the only voices they hear are the Farm Bureau, or Steelman and company, then thats who they will please. They haven't done the best of jobs, but in todays political environment its hard to know if its from a lack of funds, incompetence, or plain old political interference. Pushing issues and checking results would benefit us all by forcing the issues.
  9. It does have the Molded seats. I've paddled in the Molded seats backward, but with a Sitbacker on them, and their alright that way.
  10. It hit a historical low this winter. If the fish survived the predation from low water, it should be a good trip for you. As Phil said, everything looks good, but I imagine the aquifer needs some more water. Are you doing Noel to 43?
  11. I didn't think they stocked them that small, except when the hatcheries get overloaded? I know there are times when "Silver Bullets" are numerous, but I thought it was rare.
  12. The water needs to be put where it will really do some good, the feeder streams. The lakes are settling basins for what enters from the various sources. The big problem is a narrow mentality by too many people about cause and effect. BPS wants all it can get for its buck and knows that too many fishermen will not see the connection unless the money is put on the bank they fish. When TR was built it was isolated to a large degree and most of the feeders were still clean, that combined with standing timbers produced a lot of Bass, just as BS did. Dropping fish and Cedars won't make up for the damage being done by leaking septic tanks, yard chemicals, chemical spills and road pollution. To take the lake back to its former, they need to take water quality back to something resembling the level 30-40 years ago at least.
  13. I'm still puzzled by the reference to restoring fish habitats. These were mammal habitats before the dams were built, not fish habitat. If they want to improve habitat for fish, thats one thing, but what is there to restore?
  14. Where are you putting in?
  15. I suppose they don't want your dirty wader boots in their water supply.
  16. Kyle there is a discrepancy however, rates are increasing 250-300%+, are salaries increasing accordingly??
  17. BPS is running them on sale at $559, I believe it is, at any rate I'll drop to $500 for the month. Of course I've already paid the sales tax.
  18. If the water will just go down, I think I overdid my wishin'.
  19. Not to be picky, but Bull Shoals was next behind Taney.
  20. Our rendezvous was canceled, obviously, disappointed, but we did need the rain. Maybe a better summer than last.
  21. If its for more patrolmen every where I think it would be a good thing, if its for LOZ, then they can tax them at the ramp and the dock because its not a COE lake.
  22. Well that certainly puts a fly in the ointment. I lived in Oregon for 13 years and I can tell everyone that the amount of public land in that state dwarfs what Missouri has. If the reason for the sale is really to help out rural schools, and Oregon has even more issues with that problem then Missouri, it would make sense that they would sell Oregon land. Why, thats got to be the question, but I suspect the answer won't meet any standards of making sense.
  23. I don't believe that hand fishing offers any real threat, because I don't believe there are that many people who will stick their hand into the hole of an unknown occupant. The legislature passing game laws is nothing short of ridiculous. The MDC has always been one of the best in the country, not perfect, but one of the best. There seems to be a movement in recent times to drive it down, probably to the level that the 1/8th cent sales tax can be confiscated. I wonder what effect petitions, by groups gathered behind one protest, the interference by the legislature, would have on that body?
  24. Especially if the Wipers are up there.
