  1. I saw a few white bass and walleye that were caught on the white at Twin Bridges last week before the rain. It should be decent conditions again by tomorrow.
  2. I wonder if search and rescue can bring in a mini sub from somewhere? Should be able to go all the way to bottom.
  3. I saw my Dad several years ago catch several slabs from shore in a short time with a 14 ft crappie pole. Walk the jig off the ledge and be stealthy. It helps if the water is at least a little murky. This was another year with similar water level at pinhook bend where Blue Springs road comes down across the end of a cove. He was very skilled at this sort of thing and I couldn't duplicate it.

I wonder what happens to a big striper with a lure in the mouth trailing a bunch of line? Can they continue to feed?
  5. I went over to the Twin Bridge area this afternoon. No catch to report. Only a few people out fishing. Visibility in the White was about 6 inches. Visibility in Richland Creek about 14 inches. The lake is now backed up into the mouth of Richland Creek. Give it until about Monday and things might get better.
  6. The AR Fish and Game commission report is lame and not of much use. It is generalized and often not up to date.
  7. Upper white river, along with the west fork, is still high and muddy. They will need about four or five more days to run lower and clear to get back to pre rain conditions. Then it might rain again. Typical early spring.
  8. Sequoyah captures a lot of silt that would otherwise go into Beaver. We could use a similar silt trap on the west fork.
  9. Probably the mud line will reach at least to Horseshoe Bend.
  10. It takes at least a few hours for the surge from the south end to reach the gauge at the dam.
  11. I always wear a PFD when alone, or if water is cold or if water or boat is moving. In warm calm conditions with an able companion, I might not wear it, but have it within reach.
  12. It is a right turn off the War Eagle park access road. Washington Co road 502. The only shore access is at the boat ramp area, and it is a little bit off the main channel.
  13. The jet boats have to run on plane to avoid obstructions. They dont make much wake then. The jets are not the problem at twin bridges. Its the big bass boats dragging tail at about 10-15 mph. I saw wakes today that were washing the banks away and almost swamped a couple kayakers.
  14. It is not open this year, at least not yet.
  15. I was back at Hwy 45 bridge again today. Same story as yesterday. Lots of boats and bank fishermen, but little being caught. Saw only few crappie and white bass, all fairly small.
  16. You could take out at Beavorama. Not as much boat traffic, and much shorter than Blue Springs. BTW, if the lake gets to 1121, the rapid below Richland Creek mouth should completely go away.
  17. Did you paddle up the big shoal below the huge gravel bar downstream from Richland Creek mouth? That had a few small standing waves on it today.
  18. I was at Hwy 45 bridge from about noon until two or so today. Water temp was about 55 mid afternoon. Dingy but not muddy, Good current flow. Very little was being caught compared to the number of fishermen. The lot was nearly full. One livewell had several small to medium white bass and one walleye after about 4 or 5 hours. Many caught one or two or nothing. Most are in agreement that the water is still a little cool. I was told it was 53 degrees down at Walker's Bluff, which is less than a mile down river, but the lake backs up to just past there.
  19. I think with the present water flow and a jet on a flat bottom, you could get up to the big riffle below the flat rock hole. That's a good ways up from twin. I saw all sorts of small boats up there last year as I fished from the bank. On google earth, the flat rock riffle is highly visible, about halfway between 45 bridge and Wyman bridge.
  20. Those megabass lures look a lot like the old Rebel floating minnow lures from about 1975.
  21. I measured the temp of White River at Elkins about 2 PM today at exactly 50 degrees. Estimated visibility is two feet.
  22. Look up USGS Water Data current conditions
  23. I have done a little research on turbidity units as correlated to the visibility of a very light colored object in water and come up with the following approximate results. T=30 visibility = 10 inches T=20 visibility = 13 in T=15 visibility = 16 in T=10 visibility = 20 in T=5 visibility = 30 in
  24. River is slightly on the rise again.....hoping we don't lose the spring fishing due to high waters.
  25. 1119 if it doesn't rain more.
