  1. What color Flicker Shad are you using? If you are willing to Share?
  2. I went crappie fishing today at Stockton with an old friend. We had a ton of fun and caught up. However, the fishing was not quite as good as I anticipated. We put in at Aldridge and fished trees and banks past Kauffman. 1 keeper and about 10 nine inch fish. 1 on a chartreuse jig the others on minnow and bobber. It was a fun day but I hope it picks up a bit.
  3. I am so sorry that happened to you. I am glad you are ok.
  4. I have a 12 foot flat bottom boat with title. The boat is registered. I have an electric trilling motor on the boat. My question is do I need numbers on the side of my boat? I plan on calling DOR but trying to get some insight first. Thanks for any help.
  5. Wow, very nice!
  6. Thanks for the report
  7. Ok, thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll,concentrate on jig fishing in creeks rather than main lake fishing.
  8. Thanks for the report Jim
  9. I just bought my first ever boat. It's a 12 foot flat bottom that i haul in the back of my truck. I'm mostly a river fisher but do have a 55lb thrust trolling motor on it. I'd like to get any advice someone is willing to offer about the best location, season, and typical bait for trolling for lake taneycomo trout. Any help at all would be appreciated. I plan on camping at taneycomo several times this summer as well ans bringing the boat.
  10. Thanks for the report!

My Dad, and son went with me to Taylor's bridge for a quick 2 hour trip today. We were able to snag 4 nice whites all in about 30 minutes. Pretty streaky, I think a limit is there for the taking of someone fished all day.
  13. Thanks slab, Ive fished Eudora spring before I may try that, but I'll bring my catfish gear just in case.
  14. I'll try the cut shad idea, I keep frozen shad in the freezer for just such an occasion (the wife hates it)...
  15. I was worried about that, I've got the fishing fever, might try to catch a few cats instead.
  16. Looking to fish this weekend in the Aldrich area from the bank. Is it better in the morning cold or after it warms up a bit? Thanks for any input.
  17. Thank you
  18. Are they still hitting on red and white?
  19. I'm planning on heading to Bennett tomorrow. The weather report looks great. It will be my first trip there. I have been fishing powerbait at taneycomo the past 2 weeks. I plan on fishing it in zone 3 and then trying my hand at fly fishing in zone 1 if it's not too crowded. Any thought or advice for my plan?
  20. How did you (and phil's jigs) do?
  21. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm new to trout fishing. Is evening trout fishing good-ok?
  22. Thanks
  23. Thinking about heading toward Lilley's Landing tomorrow (Thursday). I have a front wheel drive car; can someone give me a report of the road conditions off of 76?
  24. Thanks for all of the comments and support. Next week is spring break for us, so I''ll be bringing both my son and 6 year-old daughter to check out Lilleys Landing. I definitely have the trout fishing bug!
  25. I took my son trout fishing yesterday for the first time ever. I live in Willard and my typical fishing trip is to Stockton Lake for Crappie, Bass, or Catfish. After making some smoked trout on my Kamado Joe Smoker, My son (age 10), asked why we couldn't fish for the rainbow's instead of buying them. My initial response was to tell him I hadn't figured out how to use the fly rod I purchased at a yard sale a few years ago. After reading a bit on this site, especially Phil Lilley's posts, I decided to break out the crappie gear and add some 4lb line. A couple of people at Bass pro gave some good beginner advice, we chose powerbait (both the putty and round bait balls). We fished at the Cooper Creek fishing dock and each of us caught our first ever trout! Two rainbow's 10 and 11.5 inches long. I can't stop reading about it now and wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed to our success and to everyone who post on this site. It's good entertainment until we return to Taneycomo.
