  1. Keep the spinnerbait theme going but if you don't mind id like to add a question concerning spinner bait storage. Like some of my other Obsessive/Compulsive fishing friends out there, who stay awake at night wrestling with the perpetual frustrations of neat and tidy spinnerbait storage, I'd love to here some of what works for those who have figured it out. Not mentioning any names but maybe it best that the 'ziplock bag' crowd leave their suggestions to a minimum:)))
  2. Does anyone have any insight on the timing or if any sales even happen on waterfowl gear? Especially GHG Decoys.
  3. If you don't mind what depth were the eyes hanging out?
  4. My 2 cents is that it is darn hard to run a tackle shop effectively, meaning not only making the customers happy but also keeping the business profitable long-term. Hats off to Aaron for doing both at Hook, Line , & Sinker. It is the rare store where 'day in and day out' customers get to interact with real quality people who not only have massive fishing experience but are willing to truly help you catch fish if you really are interested. I don't mean that they're going to give away all of their secrets, remember I said that they are 'experienced' and they are fishermen:))), but they are much more forthcoming than any other tackle shop that I have ever dealt with. Again, I tip my hat to Aaron for again showing his customers that he is willing to put his money where his mouth is by hiring Scott, yet another top quality guy and a highly experienced fisherman, to help strengthen an already strong team at HLS. I look forward to watching these guys continue to grow and improve HL&S in the years to come and selfishly I expect to continue being a very satisfied customer.
  5. If u don't mind me asking, what is BB?
  6. I also get many hookups in the pause, presumably from followers. What hooks did u replace the originals with for the #6. I would think that the more natural slow fall would b really enticing on the pauses that you are doing. Although I think that the flicker with stock hooks tends to stay level with is good also. I just like a little fall. The one exception were standards may be better is when fishing tight to wood, whereby better avoiding hangups. Id like to hear f&f's take on this as well. Think he mentioned that he switches hooks also.
  7. Fished near the Rocky Branch area after the 'little afternoon disturbance' that sent 'the hatch' scurrying like mayflies in a windstorm. Hung out under an awesome dock until it passed. After it had cleared we had about an 1.5 hrs left to fish. Caught 5 whites, a 1 lb striper, and finally we caught what we were fishing for, 2 17" eyes and our to date personal best, a 24" eye. Actually my 14 yr old, Jack, caught it. All came on a worm harness. We both missed a few and I have no doubt that we could have gotten a few more with a little more time. Now that takes discipline, smarts, or maybe just fear to leave biting walleyes... but sometimes it pays off more for the long run to occasionally appease the wishes of significant others by not dragging your 14 yr old home at midnight... Anyway, here a few pics. I of course posed with 'the dude' also (same fish), and i'm posting both pictures only because it better shows the true size as we saw it in person. Look at the shoulders on that dude. You gotta be impressed with the beef on these beaver lake eyes. Finally, a special shoutout to F&F for all his tutelage on OA. The man is selfless contrary to the sometimes harsh portrayals of J-Doc ))))))))
  8. what kinda trolling speed will the yak give u for the flickers? Thats pretty amazing boat control to pull off that catch
  9. F&F has on occasion mentioned his use of an Aqua-Vu underwater camera as well as some suggestions as to how to protect it. I can really understand how this tool can help a person become much more capable and confident with understanding what ones 'graphs' are showing you. F&F, do you or does anyone else with experience using these cameras have any advice as to which model is the most cost effective? As with any techno gizmos, there is always a newer and better (ie:more expensive) one on the market, but often times the new features while nice are just window dressing. However sometimes the new features can be really helpful. So in short, I'm simply looking at this as a tool to help me become a better graph reader. Any help would be much appreciated.
  10. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Recent tutorials, offered up by a highly respected yet sometimes questionable Beaver Lake Guru regarding the rather odd subjects of sacrifice, virgins, and carp, should be approached with great caution. Left to the sometimes misguided endeavors of some eager yet 'less experienced' readers, things could go horribly wrong. Without trying to explain the details of the dangers, let us just say that the improper technique could lead to serious issues relating to your future reputation with wives, friends, and family. In addition, improper technique could render the 'Ritual' ineffective given that fact that one might no longer be dealing with a 'Virgin Carp'.
  11. Scott, that was a thoroughly written 'dissertation' as well as very generous of you to take the time and effort for those of us who still have a lot to learn. Your contributions sure helps to shorten the learning curve for someone like myself who isn't able to free up 'water time' as much as I would like. If I could ask you to possibly elaborate a little more on the Keitechs. What speed do you generally straight-line troll them? Do you ever use planer boards with them? If so, how far behind the boards to get the right depth and performance? I do love the 'eyes' and any help is appreciated.
  12. FnF... Is it possible to upload a navionics map into Excel, instead of google earth, so that you can have the benefit of their contour lines?
