  1. Rich, other than color, that's what I was going for. I think I used wapsi sculpin color marabou and chenille. and brown deer hair. Need to work on the heads, for sure. Have you ever fished w/ one?
  2. That's kind of funny. Not really, but kind of.
  3. Thanks for the tips Leonard. I think I've figured out how to add more spun hair, just need to practice. Has anyone every tried a deer hair diving bug like you've use for bass or pike? Be some exciting blow-ups this fall if they'd hit it.
  4. 2 words: Go Rams!
  5. Do we get an address? I'm sure you'll have a line.
  6. All the implied BS about Leonard's ethics is getting old. If you guys have something to say, come out and say it. Looks like Leonard's fish is hooked in the lip to me.
  7. This is from a story Phil wrote that in the archives.
  8. Good looking fish and flies. Thanks for sharing.
  9. This is similar to what I've been tying up. I can't find the right link, but one is close. It's very easy. I've used bucktail and deer hair for the wing and a big pack of craft foam from Walmart. http://www.fishingwithflies.com/HoppersFoamHopper.htm
  10. Hey Leonard, do you fish much at night? I hear you can really get into some big fish.
  11. I read The Ozark Bluff Dwellers by M. R. Harrington in college. He was a archaeologist who found a lot of prehistoric evidence of scatter native americans living under over handing bluff, kind of like Jim Bluff on the Buffalo. Not a real page turner, but interesting nonetheless.
  12. I jokingly asked Leonard about the PMS fly in another post a few weeks ago. Maybe that partly led to this thread. Anyway, I've never met Leonard in person and he wouldn't know me from Adam or Eve, but he did offer to give me a PMS next time I came down and told me, more or less, what it imitated. For all Leonard knows, I'm a government agent keeping tabs on these night fishing type who might blow up TRD. It's all in good fun. I don't think Leonard ever claimed to invent the Pine Sq. Sculpin, just have a lot of success with it. All you have to do is google it and find it from several different sources, including Leonard. There have been several guides and professional tiers who have given lots of good tips on this forum. Did they invent the zebra midge? Of course not, but the hook they recommend or the material or whatever make it more successful. So thanks to all who have done that.
  13. That stinks. I broke my wrist, thankfully might left. You could always duck tape your rod to your cast and double up on the vicoden.
  14. Is it something you can show us? Maybe step-by-step like tying instructions?
  15. I haven't run the parallels. None of out machines at work use the Intel processor, which you need if you want to run it. I haven't heard anything bad about it, and it sure would be handy. W/o more info, I'd be hesitant to replace a PC entirely, especially if it's something you depend on everyday. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to get something done and you can't because you computer won't work.
  16. Congrats!! Hey, I sent Mr. Ducky a PM a few weeks ago. Don't know if he's had time to log in.
  17. I think Cooper Creek Resort has some spaces.
  18. Trying something new called a Bow River Bugger. It's a cross between a wooly and a muddler. I've attached the pic. I'm having trouble w/ the head, getting it full enough. I found some muddler instructions and it said to add several bundles of deer for the head. I guess I can figure out how to do that. Anyway, any advice would be great.
  19. Al, you need to get together w/ some grad students and get some research going. My best friend did similar research on the Pearson (?) Creek flowing into the James above Spfd, the James and then into TRL. They were able to take sediment samples and do some extensive research. The mining above Spfd is small and old fashioned, so it hasn't had near the impact of these large scale mines, but I would think something like that would be the first step in fixing the problem.
  20. There is no reason you can't run both, either, Phil. I have sharing set up at my office and have access to the hard drive in my PC as well as the network folder on our microsoft server. It's all very easy to set up and will work wirelessly as well as wired. You might put it on a separate network so and upscrupulous guest/neighbors/passers by don't hack you. It's amazing how many home wireless networks are unsecured. Also, Apple sells refurbs w/ a year warranty on their web site. Saves you some money, but you still get the full year warranty. For the music lovers, they also have refurbed ipods. Right now you can get a shuffle for $50.
  21. Thanks Terry. I've seen the ads and they seemed interesting. So how do you add tippet? Do you have furled tippet for your furled leaders?
  22. Pardon my ignorance, but was are they? Is it a braid? What's it take to make one?
  23. Neat pics.
  24. I think it has something to do w/ Metlife, but I'm not sure. I've never really looked into it. Luckily, I haven't needed it yet.
  25. We have something similar as a benefit at work. A co-worker thought she was all set for a divorce then got an email that said she was only covered for the seperation and it was going to cost an additional $1500. Needless to say, the divorce is on hold again. I guess, as with everything, you have to read the fine print and be specific w/ what you're selling or you'll have some unhappy clients.
