  1. I'm curious. I have seen it before, and I'm not saying its not true, I'm just wondering what the AGFC means by saying that Indian Creek is a "hot spot" for striper action. I have caught a few. Probably just as many non-keepers as keepers though. I took my boy out Sunday night because he has seen all the big fish we were catching that weekend and he wanted to catch one. We had already packed up and left, so we went to Indian Creek. I eventually got him on one and after catching the bigger ones earlier I really had my doubts about that one. He wanted to keep it and I told him it had to be 20" long. Turned out it was, but still, it was maybe 8lbs. So anyways, I know there are some there, but maybe I'm not hitting the right area? The question I have is when they say Indian Creek, do they mean anywhere in the general vicinity of it, or are they talking a more specific area? And besides, I thought it was later in the summer when it becomes a "hot spot"? What gives?
  2. That's the truth right there. lol. It does get pretty busy at times, and the fishing is tuff, but I set my jaw to figure out every nook and cranny of it and I am to do so. I have found crappie dispersed through it, but never have more than two in the boat any given trip. I like the solitude this end gives, so I guess I'll trade the good fishing for it. Once I get bored or decide I want to catch more fish...I might make a trip heading up the lake a bit.
  3. I'll keep an eye out. I run an old 16' trophy. Red and grey. Its beat up, but still catches the fish. Hopefully sooner...than later...I'll have my boat project done and be on the water in my new ride. But that does not look to be soon. I normally get out in the evening. I try to stay away, unless I'm out with friends, on the weekends. Too busy for me. Wednesday is usually when you'll find me on the water. I wish I could get out in the mornings, but this darn thing called work gets in my way most of the time.
  4. I wanna be like you too F&F I too am thoroughly impressed with these walleyes. When we fileted the smaller (~15-18lb) striper this weekend, and the walleye we caught, we had just about as good looking meat from that walleye. Beautiful filets. They sure know how to pack the weight on. One thing I have yet to do is to get into a mess of crappie. But I'm sure that just being out there near the same area you been fishing in has given me some of you mojo.
  5. Glad you found them. The whites are up here also, you'll get ahold of some before too long I'm sure. Maybe we will bump into each other sometime out there on the water, looks like we fish the same area's up here in no mans land. Well, that is till the summer hits us and the striper chasers start moving in...
  6. We were over by Rocky Branch when we saw the herd coming. It was nuts. Never been cut off too bad, but after the laughing and excitement from us catching our second striper a guide in the area decided to "troll" on over to our area. At one point we had to stop and let him drag his planer boards on by. He left out of the same dock we did early in the morning and managed to power by us right before we got set up on the spot we wanted to troll. He picked one area, so we stayed to our little stretch. After a couple hours it was more than he could handle I guess...
  7. Oops, sideways picture again...
  8. Ok, one more and I'll quit bragging. . Really though, it was caught 30' deep. But we did see a lot of guides trolling shallow this weekend. This guy was right at 20 lb
  9. Thanks guys. It was fun. We will be back out in the morning. Well, I have a bad habit of not measuring/weighing. It was the biggest I've personally been around. I'm guessing it was reaching 30", but I could be wrong. We fried them up with the catch earlier this week for our get together this evening. All I can say for sure is yum.
  10. Not topwater, but good nonetheless. Trolling with downriggers. Around the corner from rock branch. Fixing to leave and were pulling up baits when we found this feller on the line And, of course, the one that got away. Right up to the boat, went to get it, and broke the line. Guessing high 20's low. 30's. A good one for sure.
  11. All the way back. It seems to hold them throughout the majority of the back end of Indian creek. I've even caught them early morning near the top there at the 4 way.
  12. If your referring to a particular channel between two places, then no. But the walleye I caught were just around the corner from there. The whites were in a particular place that you went and scoped out with your camera, of which you reported back on the findings beneath the dock. Which, on another note, I am excited to say I just got my camera in today and hope to find it put to good use in the near future. And if you happen to go diving around the place I lost by downrigger ball last year...I'd gladly buy back my lure I lost there the other night.
  13. Well, we are just down the road from you. Site 23. It will be the one with all the kids running around on bikes. lol. Good looking fish. I would naturally be expecting a bigger one also if I were here, lol. She is gonna put the pressure on you for sure...now...and every year she gets older. I got one that is almost 13 now.
  14. You staying at LBS campgrounds? I'll be there with some others. I'm sure I'll see you out on the water.
  15. Well guys, been a while since I have been on and posted. Hunting always gets me in the fall, winter finds me doing chores all the time, and early spring my house/garden get most my attention. But alas! I am in full fish mode now...well, that and the long honeydo list I have. Regardless, I have been out a few times the last few weeks. For those who don't know, I fish almost exclusively from point 1 to the back of Indian Creek. I live just up the road from Indian creek so its a quick trip to the water for me, and my current rig does not hold so much gas so I keep my fishing to this area. Ok, so yesterday evening after work hit the water. I was pulling some new crank baits I picked up, which pull deeper than the flickers I normally run, and decided I wanted to see if I could pick something up trolling back up the end of Indian creek. These baits were said to run 19+ so I was looking for 20ft on my sonar to see if I could see them ticking or not. First time I got close to 25 had a fish on, white bass, and it was all downhill from there. After I had 10 in the boat I finally got to see that they indeed do pull down to 19 feet. I left after telling a boatful of guys where the whites were and decided to try downstream for some walleye/stripers. After finding some trees...and loosing a lure... I finally got into some 25' water and hooked up with a few rocks...and then a couple of walleye. At that point the livewell was looking like a sardine can and I decided to hit the road. One of the best days on the lake. Sure wish my boys had been with me. Anyways, it was all for good because we are having a fish fry for my oldest sons birthday at the lake this weekend. Which will also be putting me further upstream from where I normally fish. I'll be at Lost Bridge South so if anyone knows of some good places for bluegill I would greatly, greatly appreciate the info. My wife loves bluegill, and it would be fun to take the boys out to catch some. Cant say I wont chase some stripers while I'm there though... Sorry for the sideways picture.
  16. Bad luck followed last night. Fished off main river channel, huge bait ball, but never saw or had a bite from a big fish.
  17. I'd start a new thread, but this thread is not too old. I'm going out tonight with the wife. I've just got to settle in on a spot I figure. I am not so much looking for crappie specifically as I am anything else in the neighborhood of them, whites, hybrids, and I wont be disappointed if a striper comes by. So main channel is the key? And by that is it the MAIN channel, or would the main channel of Indian Creek be good? I am still somewhat confused by terminology and such. I think that sometimes it gets loosely used(mostly by me) and so its hard to understand what someone specifically is talking about. I figure we will bring a smorgasbord to the lake with us. Worms, minnows, and lures of various sorts. Any hot tips?
  18. lol. Hey, I would just tell them the truth. I have a reel that I pulled out of the lake that does not work anymore... Details should only be given as they are asked for. lol. Hey, guys don't go around telling their wives(before they are married) "I'm going to be spending all my time and money on hunting and fishing..." Its all about a need to know basis
  19. I would think that with a good vantage point it would only take two officers to crack down on nav lights and some other things. One with a good spotting scope, the other on the water. Looking for wakes on the lake without lights would not be too hard I would think.
  20. That is sweet! Hey, don't those expensive reels have a lifetime warranty or something? Never know, they might just replace it for you. lol
  21. Idiots are idiots. Fact of life. More rules and regulations are not going to make them less of an idiot, or even make it to where there are less of them. Enforcement of the current rules and regulations needs to happen before more gets put in place. If they cannot regulate what they already have, then they cannot regulate more. All more rules do is make it more of a pain for those who follow them anyways. I understand the want for them, but sometimes we get caught up in our anger without thinking of the reality of things.
  22. Yep. I think your right and they have not made it down. There are fish at our end, but not the numbers south of here. Thanks for the report. Makes me wish I was fishing!
  23. I wondered where. I heard about it and a nieghbor saw the sheriff pontoon going out Saturday, but didn't know where exactly. Always curious what happens with something like this. I thought he was down visiting a friend and a group of them were out?
  24. Thanks for the report. I did not get out like planned, nor am I today. But maybe tomorrow? I heard, and it's just hearsay, but the word is that the majority of the stripers are at 5? Saw some good ones coming from there. Saw a good walleye from there too.
  25. Yea, I doubt it is going to give the locations of each fish in the lake and their size or anything. He said it was a very detailed map though. His family has lived in this area for generations. Grandfather helped with some of the clear cutting in prep for the lake. I doubt its a super secret kind of map, but I am willing to bet there are not many like it around. I am really looking forward to it. I'll get some pictures to share.
