  4. WHEN THE MOTOR WAS ONE YEAR OLD I HAD IMPELLER CHANGED BY GUY WHO DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIS PROFESSION BUT THIS PROBLEM NEVER DEVELOPED FOR 7 MORE YEARS. THEREFORE I DON'T THINK I CAN BLAME IT ON HIM, I HAVE CHANGED GEAR LUBE EVERY YEAR I HAVE HAD MOTOR. ONE PLACE HAD ME CHANGE TO VOLVO GEAR LUBE WHEN PROBLEM FIRST OCCURED. IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. THEY ALSO PUT NEW IMPELLER IN BUT THE PROBLEM ALREADY EXISTED. THAT IS WHY I WAS THERE. I MEANT NO DISREPECT FOR FISHWRENCH WHEN I MENTIONED HYDRO-TEC JUST THE OPPOSITE. I APPRECIATE HIS HELP BUT DON'T KNOW HIS BUSINESS NAME OR ADDRESS AND IS A LONG WAYS OFF. I HAVE ALSO HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT FRED. I HAVE BOUGHT A FEW THINGS THERE FOR MOTOR BUT CALLED THEM FIRST AND THEY DID NOT RETURN MY CALL AS THEY SAID THEY WOULD SO I WROTE THEM OFF. PS=KNEE WAS OPERATED ON FRIDAY=WAS FINE TIL DOPE WORE OFF THEN HURT BAD WAS SICK AT STOMACH=THROAT AND FACE TORE UP BY BREATHING TUBE BUT LOTS BETTER ON ALL FRONTS TODAY
  5. thanks to fishwrench and all who gave me suggestions. i am going to take it to hydra-tec i believe.then buy a mercury if they can't fix it, it is a long way there from eagle rock but i don't know of a good place i have not tried for yamaha closer.my main concern is finding someone who can fix it not the distance to them. any suggestions thanks again
  6. I HAVE HAD ONE A LONG TIME. USE IT FOR CAROLINA RIG AND SWIM BAIT. MAY NOT BE THE BEST ROD FOR THESE APPLICATIONS BUT I DON'T DO EITHER ONE MUCH ANYMORE. ROD HAS SERVED ME VERY WELL OVER THE YEARS I DID A LOT OF CAROLINA RIGGING TV TOM
  7. i have a unique problem no one seems able to fix. the last two winters my 2004 yamaha 4 stroke will not go into reverse in temperatures less than 32 degrees-it just chatters. i have been to two different yamaha dealers. the first changed lower unit grease. did not help. the other place took it apart and found everything good. then noticed 2 screws on linkage loose ,tightened them and i thought problem was solved. but this winter it did the same thing. this morning when it was 26 degrees forward would not work either. but after motor warms up i had forward and late in day i tried reverse and it worked. everyone tells me temperature has nothing to do with it but i had no touble all summer. they also say it is the linkage but it seems ok. i am ready to buy a mercury but would like to find out what's wrong. if anyone knows of this problem and solution i would appreciate it. thanks tv tom
