Has anybody been by the Mill Creek campground lately, or know what level the lake gets to before they close it? We have reservations out on the point next month, I am worried that they will shut it down now. It is an annual trip for us, and I remember what happened in 2008 and 2011.

I have always enjoyed reading through the Table Rock fishing reports even though I seldom get to go to my favorite lake these days. I took the family down for a short trip on Tuesday and Wednesday for some much needed lake time and thought I would post a report as a small token of my appreciation for this board. Tuesday was an absolute blast! With my wife, my 11 year old daughter and 12 year old son in the boat the fish did not stand a chance with the four of us slapping the water. We had a total of about a dozen 15"+ bass with the biggest about 3 pounds. Most were pretty deep that day, 25-35' deep and on the bottom. I did catch a few that were suspended.......or at least I think they were suspended.......as they would hit after I pulled my bait over a limb that was a ways off of the bottom. Baits were a mustard or green pumpkin tube with 3/8oz head, a 3/4oz swing head with either a Missle baits D-Bomb in Desert Storm or Rage Tail Structure Bug in green pumpkin. While fishing my wife mentioned "isn't this the time of year when you used to throw the 'rig?" I had to dig deep in the box, but there it was.......my old Carolina rig rod! I had forgotten about that technique as I have gotten caught up in all of the new stuff, and before I made my first cast with a watermelon/chart. dipped tail Zoom lizard, I made a comment about I wondered how old the line was on my reel. Well I made a cast and SNAP! My line broke and out sailed my 2 dollar tungsten sinker! My whole crew was laughing as I picked out my backlash. It was well worth it though as I caught the 3#er on it out of a brush pile in about 19' of water, after spending the next 10 minutes re-tying. I remembered then how much I dislike tying on a Carolina rig! LOL! All together we caught about 30 bass that day on main lake and secondary points, within 2 miles of the K.C. bridge. We also Ned rigged several fish suspended over deep water just for fun. Wyatt threw his Keitech swimbait all day long and caught several fish, with 3 or 4 keepers. He would throw it on the same deep points, slow rolling it on the bottom. He is a swim bait nut! Wednesday was a totally different day altogether. I did not see much schooling activity at all, managed 1 keeper out in front of some willow trees in the morning on a swimbait. Went deep and caught a few out there but it was tough. I wish I would have paid more attention to that Carolina rig fish from the day before, because in the afternoon I pulled out a big football jig and went to work in some brush piles in about 15' of water and caught some nice ones. The sun came out way earlier Wednesday, but the fish were shallower, go figure. Ended up with 4 or 5 decent keepers, the biggest weighing 4.95 on a digital scale. Had an absolute blast, but now it is back to work! Here are a few pics for you guys....... Check out the spots on this one! Going back to be caught another day.......
