  1. I have been throwing a larew hard head with beaver trailer for the last few years with unbelievable results. Selfish, but I was a bit upset that the cats out of the bag on that one now. I too was wondering about the "lava rock" mclelland was talking about. Ive never seen anything like that in the KC area. Anyone willing to share any info as to where such rock is or how to identify it on the electronics? Would greatly appreciate it.
  2. Fishing bluffs that were a bit wind protected. Tossing the jig right up on shore line and hopping it off the ledge into deeper water. Fish were hitting all along the drop-off. Most bites came about 10 feet off shoreline. Water depth didnt matter much as long as there was a drop off. I guess I'd say the most productive areas were where the water dropped to 12-15 ft quickly. Saw lots of big blow ups in the shallow exposed brush, but couldnt get any of those fish to bite. Saw a 5/6lber get about 2ft verticle on blow-up. Entire fish was out of the water. Wish I could have landed her.
  3. Fished mostly north of the bridge. Wind was a pain, but the fishing wasnt horrible. Lots of stained water. Caught over 100 black bass over the 3 days. Only a couple ww fish, about a dozen on a tube, and most everything on the jig. Smaller was def better for the jig. Only caught 3 short smallies. Caught many short kentuckys. Had about 30 keepers overall, 18 of them were larrys. Biggest was only 3.1lbs. Avg on the keepers was about 2.3lbs. Water was about 47 in the mornings, low 50s when we took out every eve about 6pm. Hope the info helps. Hope the big gals start feeding up soon too.
  4. My buddy and I will be fishing Bull Shoals out of Isabella March 27-30. We frequent Table Rock and have been trout fishing on the White many, many times. Decided its time to give gorgeous Bull Shoals a shot. Any and all seasonal info/tips anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. At heart, I'm a jig fisherman. I am hoping for staging fish and water in the low to mid 50's by the time we arrive - a bit worried that might be a pipe dream with as cold as it has been. I am having trouble finding current lake conditions, if anyone could provide me with a reliable link I would appreciate it. Barring that, guess I'll just keep watching Pete Weener and assume the conditions are quite similar. One specific question I was hoping to get answered - how bad is the shad kill on the lake right now and what are some of the best locations to try and get away from it. Its my experience at TRL that during a kill thats about the only thing the bass will eat. Ive had to run way up the James River just to get away from it and get some bites. Assuming I prob want to run north on Bull Shoals as well if I run into the same prob.
