  2. Jd, Awesome buddy!!! Had to look the post up after our conversation to check out the pics. Haven't seen your boy in a while... Holy smokes he looks like you! Let's hook up and hit the river soon. Farming is slowing down a bit for me and I'm NEEDING a trip over to the river bad!
  3. Took my bro-in-law to the river for his and his 9yo son's first river experience. Wow, what a great time! Fished Norfork for the first time in years on Friday from 1:30-5:30 and cought a ton of fish. I always thought one unit there was perfect and Friday really proved that to be true. The new guys had (especially the boy) had a hard time with the current - really the hardest thing to master when jig fishing. They eventually cought a few 1 and 10 I think, but had a blast seeing a new place. Norfork total was 67 with around 30 in the 16"-19" range. Wow what chunky fish. Norfork is hot! Hit the white from 7:45-11:30 Saturday and the 3 units (down from 5 Friday) made it much easier for my rookies . 111 fish in that time span and they had a blast! Didn't really try for any big browns, just looked for easy to catch fish to give the nephews line a tug -he ended up catching 12ish. Was hesitant to post #s but went ahead. The rivers are great with these nice spring flows. Fishing from a moving boat, constantly presenting your lure to new fish, and the decreased skittishness the bigger water leads to can equal some great fishing!
  4. Sneak boat I built a couple years ago. Almost 14' long with a 48" bottom. 25 Merc would pust it 35 with 2 guys! Built it and painted it in 3 days. Started on Monday, finished Wednesday and had it Redfishing below New Orleans on Friday lol. Airboat again. Has a Chevy LS1 @ 400hp. Thing would climb a tree! Everyond wondered how I duck hunted out of a posished boat, but it was easy -just drive drive it up into the woods or a field For a friend who duck hunts -still have no idea why he wanded it painted black, but whatever lol. 1860 with a "hunt deck" Boat im running now. 1966 tunnel hull with a 90 etec tiller. After I shot the camo I clearcoated it. Wish I had a better pic than this cell phone shot.
  5. Oops... first pic was a 2072 center console tunnel I built 5yrs ago... not sure where that 2060 pic is...
  6. Thanks for the welcomes guys JD, call me and we'll meet up! As for boat pics, Ive got a few... if I can find 'em. Have built 16 or so over the last several years, however, having two little girls and building a house slowed my sporting persuits down the last few years. Here are a few pics: If I'm doing this correctly, the first is of a 2060 tunnel hull I built myself about 10yrs ago. Next is a mudboat I did about 7-8yrs ago. An airboat I built 4yrs ago... Airboats are awesome!!!
  7. We gave it a go over the weekend... No luck. The flow was to much for my oldest, "fisher in the making" to handle. She did, however, have a blast picking up twigs and acorns from the ramp/deck lol. Took the girls and momma over to the norfork's confluence with the white and let em catch a few rainbows and got some cute video. Good times Clay, I lost your number when my phone crashed and then, like a dummy, didn't save it when you called me last month. It was some farming disaster that caused me to have to get off the phone quickly and then I forgot to store your info. Text it to me I'd ya don't mind. We should get together some time and leave some fish with sore lips
  8. Just wanted to formally introduce myself. I once went by the username Arkie Farmer, but hadn't logged in in ages. "Forgot password" function didn't work, so figured rejoining was easier than bugging Phil... Anywhoo... I love fishing the White and Tanneycomo. Was born in marion county (though left as a youngster) and spent many summer days camping and fishing the white river system as a kid. My fishing progression went from bait to fly to jig... JD and Jerry Dudley turned me on to jig fishing 16yrs ago and I've been ruint ever since . Have been on a sort of trout fishing hiatus the last few years as my wife and I have been raising up a couple little girls, but have dusted off my rods, replaced my 15 year old river boat, and been hitting the river as often as time permits lately. In addition to fishing and family, my energy is focused on our church, the farm ( I have a row crop opperation in the Arkansas River valley), duck hunting, and bow hunting. Farming allows me to have flexible hours in the winter, so hunting is a no brainier. After spending as many as 54 days afield in a 60 day duck season, I figured out that a commercially produced aluminum boat would never survive my idea of "normal"use. I began building my own aluminum rigs around 2002 - though time rarely seems to permit me to do much welding these days. I'll be watching the forum and look forward to joining discussions. Also, as permits, I'll happily contribute to what looks like a great fishing report exchange you guys participate in. If you see me on the river say hi. I love to visit (am usually late because of it) lol. I'll be the guy in the farm theamed ball cap running a sparkly (my 3yo girls words lol ) charcoal Topwater with a yamaha jet prop.
  9. Are waders needed? How wide is the creek? Am thinking about taking my kiddos -Clay has inspired me. Can I get a small child near the action without getting her soaked?
  10. The dam phone number says until the lake drops below 462ft. It was at 462.7 last time I called. The white is my river of choice, but fished the LRR because it's closer for a day trip -ran over there for a quickie. I'm near Fort Smith, and have an employee who was needing a fishing trip so we hit the closest place... I see you mention farming. I row crop farm in the river valley. Screen name used to be Arkie Farmer, but couldn't get the "forgot password" function to help me out and didn't want to bother phill
  11. Thought I'd post up a report for our outing on wednesday... Fished the Jon's pocket area of the Little Red from around 9:00-3:00. The flow was increased from the 300-500 being let out during the dam repairs to around 2900cfm. This water increase was manageable, but a few hundred less cfm would have made it easier for a novice. We fished jigs -pj's and zigs and did well, landing 82 fish. Explored up above cow shoals and had a stretch where we were fishless for about an hour. Had anticipated catching a large brown, but the biggest was 18". I did miss one in the 4lb range -pulled the jig away to soon. All-in-all it was a fun day. People with aluminum duck boat style rigs should take advantage of the guaranteed flows and hit the little red while the water is constant. I hadn't fished this stream in 14 years and really enjoyed being on "new" water.
