  1. Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll check them out!
  2. Anyone have any quick float options on the Upper-Middle Meramec? Live in the St. James area and would love to be able to take off a little early from work for a quick kayak float and fish. However, all the good accesses seem to be 7-10 miles apart (Cedar Ford, Woodson K, Scott's Ford, Riverview) making it impossible for a 3-6pm situation to be realistic. Just wondering if anyone has any gems of a quick put-in for a yak or two that would make that feasible. I found what looks like a road on GoogleMaps that may do the trick down off Meramec Farms Road that may do the trick but figured it may be a private access. Coordinates on GoogleMaps: 37°55'15.1"N 91°30'03.7"W Just seeing if something like that would be feasible. Thanks!
  3. Hi Pat, Although I cannot speculate on the condition of the fishing in that stretch I did want to give you a couple links to help you determine the floatability of that stretch as you get close to making your decision (if you haven't found this stuff already). This is a great article giving you what the different CFS readings mean to how floatable the water is for that first stretch: http://www.ozarkanglers.com/meramec-river/river-sections/ Here is a link to the Cook Station USGS River Gauge for Cook Station, that can give you the real time CFS rating, which according to the article, is the gauge to use for evaluating that stretch: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?07010350 Using these two links you can get a pretty good idea of the conditions. The only place I've ever dealt with is Adventure Outdoors at Scott's Ford, I don't remember the owner's name, but every time we've gone down there he's been very helpful and is a fisherman himself, so you may try to give them a call: http://adventureoutdoorcanoeing.com/ I live in St. James, I've done the Scott's Ford to Riverview stretch a few times and the Highway 8 to Scott's a time or two, but like you, I am hoping to give the stretch from Cedar Ford road to Highway 8 a try in search of smallies, my Jackson Coosa keeps begging to be taken down from it's mount in my garage and on the water. Hope that helps! Josh
  4. Hi Everyone, My name's Josh. I've been enjoying the knowledge sharing on here for a while, but never really posted, so I thought I would start. I would say I'm a casual fisherman, pretty much bass is my only quarry. I get on the water a couple times a month usually, enough to kind feel like I know what I am doing, but not enough to feel like an expert or anything. As far as my waters, my uncle has a resort down on Table Rock outside of shell knob, and he is generous enough to let me use his decent little bass boat when I venture down there. I try to get down there a few times a year with hopefully a long weekend in the Spring mixed in there. I do a little kayak fishing as well, I live in St. James, so far my only excursions have been on the Meramac anywhere from the Highway 8 access to the Riverview access. I bought my first kayak this Spring, a Jackson Coosa, really enjoy it, and hope to get to use it more and become a better kayaker while I'm at it. Looking forward to soaking in alot more knowledge on here!
