  1. well said. I was taught the the slow and steady method by my great uncle. When i was young id be plugging away and he would be sitting there slowly working this old 6 inch curl tail worm he swore by which was electric blue with a fire tail by the way. Sometimes i swear i would cast out and reel in 10-15 times before he would throw back out. That being said he always caught more fish then me when we fished together. I now use that very same frame of mind. I feel like i could fish just about any soft plastic effectively on a jig head of some sort and slice cover up into angles. I don't have any issues fishing easy though! i love to swim a 4-5' grub which to me is as simple as it gets and it always seems to work! I have no doubt the Ned is a great rig and i do look forward to fishing it. I guess when it comes to a technique so easy yet so deadly its a tough decision to use anything else. I wonder if my medium power rods with #8 fluoro would kill the action to much?
  2. I'd like to see the 1/8 video when you have it ready. I find 1/8 is about perfect for most plastics i throw....well that and i don't know how well most of my tackle would throw 1/16 anyway lol
  3. Well i'm always open to learning a new technique as i like to be a well versed angler. Do you ever feel like you've pigeonholed your self with this presentation? (Granted i'm asking you this not really knowing how you fish or other things you may throw)
  4. If you like hobie they have a nice kayak for smaller rivers and streams called the quest ( you can get 11' or 13' in length) they can be had around 1150ish maybe less if you know where to look. There's tons of good kayaks for rivers and streams far below what you would pay for that particular hobie.
  5. Thanks! I really appreciate you and Ham elaborating a bit more. Once i have more suitable tackle i may have to give the ned a try. That video was a great example. That's impressive action out of the Zman stuff.
  6. so what do you think Chief? Do you think his intentions are as stated? I'm just wondering why you would make it so confusing when the goal was to simplify things? maybe i'm to new to the political game.
  7. Chief was to fast for me!

  9. I think it would depend which bodies of water you want to be on more often. I'd say the predator would be great for ponds and small lakes but i don't think i would want to take it on the river. In the end the kayak will be far easier to transport, should be lighter and can do well in both lakes and rivers.
  10. Welcome to the forums and thank you for your service!
  11. Thanks Ham! It sounded like most people tend to use senko style baits and the zman seems to be the most popular which i'm assuming is how durable they are. Was just curious if anyone has luck using any other sort of plastic body.
  12. It can be frustrating using a tube bait when it comes to hang ups. The angled eye jigs do help with that and i usually have a few pre rigged so when one does hang up its not such a pain to tie another. It is tough to swim a tube. If i swim something its usually a grub. If they like a more aggressive movement on the tube i'll usually hop it more then drag it which also tend to reduce some snags. When i first started using a tube jig id go through a pack of jigs in no time so i started buying them in huge numbers! I hang up much less often now but find i still buy as many packs as possible. When you guys Ned rig do you only use a senko style plastic or do you try a few other plastic bodies? I do somewhat of a similar method with 4.5inch paddle tail worms on occasion.
  13. I couldn't agree more.
  14. We'll have a flotilla coming down the Osage fork! I can only imagine the reaction that will bring lol
  15. It's funny because that is how i feel if i don't have a tube and/or a grub lol i guess i'm old school. But i did have champ hunt down some of the BPS exclusive wiggle warts to give a go this year. I have a medium light abu veritas but im not sure how well it would for ned rigs as it seems overly stiff.
  16. I'll be ready to roll anytime you guys are!
  17. So what you're saying smalliebigs is that you want me to help you pack up the tandem and we go on a little float? lol
  18. Well I have even more of a reason to place an order for a couple handfuls of those jigs you make sir! I have some of the originals gitzits from canyon plastics but I don't think they're as thin as what they used to be.
  19. Welcome to the forums Jordan. I mostly wade but recently got into kayaking streams here. You can keep your selection pretty simple. A few crankbaits (I carry mostly craw patterns) any good 4-5 inch curl tail grub(I use pumpkin, avocado, green pumpkin, or smoke colors) pair with a 1/8-1/4oz jig head. Some 2.5-3.5 tube baits( I always have luck with darker Browns and greens with just about any variation of flake) I haven't fished the Ned rig so I can't comment there but for all the baits mentioned above I normally use a medium power rod with #8 line. I could definitely see the need for the light-medium light with #6. I also forgot to mention any football jig 1/8-1/4 works well on most of the rivers and streams though you may want to go up to 3/8 if you're fishing it deeper or there's a lot of current.
  20. i was kind of wondering the same. I think a lot of guys are throwing Ned rigs so maybe there's a shift in focus and to each his own really. I had never heard of the Ned rig until i came here which wasn't so long ago and its still on my list to try. I really like the double dipped tubes they have. The profile on them is really nice and they hold up pretty well. The tender tubes i didn't care for as much but still work fine. I wish they made the puke color in the double dipped tubes. They make it in the 2.75 teaser tube but and i've wanted to give them a try but i hear its tough to find a proper size tube jig for them.
  21. My district rep Ben Harris has been really prompt in returning my calls and trying to answer my questions. I swear i have to take notes and quickly though since he talks so fast. I'm supposed to hear more from him next week on the progress or lack of it on the bill and ill do my best to fill everyone in.
  22. I've heard a lot of good things about the food chain tubes. I like the profile of them.
  23. Very nice! If you need someone to taste test it be sure and let me know!
  24. I know a lot of people have been spreading awareness of the bill through facebook, including me. I actually spoke with a few people i work with who are also putting in a calls, emails, etc. I was hoping we could help get word out there ASAP. Even though they plan to amend a few portions of the bill the general consensus is the meat and potatoes of it is not going to change. I suspect they will try and keep as confusing as possible while only changing the small details and hope they can pass it by the sub committee.
  25. I've been wanting to try some bitsy tubes but i have heard its tought to get a tube jig to fit properly. How do you rig it Trophy?
