  1. thanks guys! i should have stated that i'm not against canoes i just seem to know less about them. How's the learning curve compared to a SOT? are they fairly similar stability wise?
  2. hey guys I've pondered getting a decent sit on top kayak to do some fishing. I'm coming from strictly wading the local rivers and streams so this is something new to me. I'm planing on kayaking and fishing jack fork this spring(around June) and I'm thinking a 12 footer would do. I've got two in mind the wilderness systems ride 115 and the Jackson coosa but I'm open to all suggestions/advice.
  3. Im wading 90% of the time since im normally fishing places like mineral fork, black river etc. I meant to say sammy 85 though they do make a 65. Since i wade as much as i do i dont have to feel rushed about covering water i have the time to break down and disect cover from ever angle i possibly can and it works very well for me. I enjoy fishing "low and slow" i find it to be a real challenge. There are days when it doesn't work as well but thats when i put on a rebel craw or wiggle wart and i can get something. Its a rare day when i cant pull one in on a grub or tube bait.
  4. You fish a lot like I do. I mostly fish darker tube baits with blue or purple flake sometimes copper. I've been wanting to try out a spool jr or Sammy 65 they look like a lot of fun. I normally throw just the 4inch senko in pumpkin purple or green pumpkin. I don't use fluke style baits to often but any 3-3.5 soft jerk bait I think would do it. Maybe take a look at the kietech swing impact.
  5. Those are some good looking tube baits Dutch! Thanks for the info I think that will be the route I take!
  6. Yeah I was trying to decide if dipping or injection would be best. I kind of like the idea of dipping since I can control the thickness and what not. Now with injection you have to do the skirt separate right? Thanks for all the feed back guys.
  7. Those look really good! And thanks for the tips! I'm looking to put in an order for plastol and coloring in coming weeks. I like how you did the laminate on them. I plan to mold mostly 3.5-4 inch. I'm sure it will take some trial and error for before I get it down but i think the fun part would be making different color schemes...etc. I like to have a tapper in the tube that gets thinner as it nears the skirt I'm guessing you just keep dipping the top of the tube until you reach a tapper you want.
  8. I've been a big tube bait fan and use them frequently on my wade/float trips. Over time I've become very particular about color and shape and was thinking about molding my own. I was wondering if any of you guys have done this and if you could give me some advice or how to. Thanks guys!
  9. I catch 90% of my smallmouth on 5inch kalins grubs or 3.5-4 inch tubes. I still carry other lures though. I have plenty of 1/4oz football jigs and craw trailers. I also have some rebel craws, a few soft plastic jerk baits, a pack or two of 4inch senko style baits, and a few of the terminator titanium inline spinners in 1/4oz.
  10. Thanks guys! Hopefully I can log some hours on current and jack fork this year. If anyone has some knowledge to share on good wade sites there it's much appreciated.

I've yet to break into 18+ inches but have caught a few at 17 or close to it. The one in my profile is pic came close to 17 caught out of mineral fork. I'm hoping to add an 18+ incher this year! I almost did last year but she managed to come unbuttoned from my jig :-/
  13. Just last summer after living fairly close to the huzzah for some years I finally decided to give it a try( I always avoided it because it's had a reputation as a big party area) me and a couple friends went out and waded for a few hours I brought in about 20 smallies with a few going 15+ I was impressed with the beauty of that stream so much so that it's now my home water
  14. Hey guys and gals I'm michael. I reside around the Washington county area. I'm a big fan of wading the local streams hunting down smallies(I always catch and release!) I enjoy fishing mineral fork, big river, huzzah, courtois creek, black river etc and looking to log some time on the jack fork and current this summer. I'm hoping to make some new friends and fishing buddies and just share stories and good times! Tight lines.
