  1. Hey Duck. Why do they call u Duck? Just wondering because that's my last name.
  2. Ok. Thanks. I was thinking about throwing the Ned rig,a rig or just swimming a grub. What do you think.
  3. I know loz is not necessarily known for water clarity, but it is known as a great fishery. How clear is the lake right now and what is an average temp throughout the lake? Just curious. Heading down tomorrow morning. Thanks guys
  4. MFU, Awesome advise. Basically stay awhile, fish with intent and with a purpose, but don't try to "Just get lucky." I too am thinking about heading to LOZ on Monday to enjoy some of the nice weather. Though I live closer to LOZ than the rock, I usually drive to the rock and can usually get a decent bag. I have fished LOZ, but.... "very little" thus leaving me with little experience. I am going to have to practice the preach. Keep my head down and a hook wet. Again thanks for the advise. I hope I can get into big girls. How deep do they seem to be right now at LOZ. At Table Rock they're predominantly about 45 deep. Will I find them in the same depths? Flipping a jig, Swimming a grub, using the ned, throwing an A Rig? Thanks in advance. I usually follow the Rock report, again as that is where I mostly fish. There doesn't seem to be as many post here. I wish there was more. I guess every body is out fishing. HaHa.
  5. Thank you BHowe. I appreciate it. Thank you for the info and good luck fishing. Be careful out there.
  6. How are you guys catching them? I'm going to try to get to the lake on Monday. One of my buddies is not much of a fisherman. I'm hoping to put him/us on some fish. Thanks I appreciate the advice in advance. Looks like nice weather coming in.
  7. Lol. Thanks J doc. I appreciate it. No hydrofoil for me. "Stupid things"
  8. Hey guys 7 posts ago, if you don't remember, I said "I'll not be getting a hydrofoil" lol. Thanks for the info.
  9. I'll take your word for it Bill. Thanks it's settled. I'll not be getting a hydrofoil. Lol
  10. My boat doesn't suffer performance. I have 95 champion with a 200 hp merc. It runs great. They preach better fuel efficiency with them. I don't always believe what a company advertises. That's the reason for asking the guys with no altering motive to sell them, as well as the guys actually on the water.
  11. I am on my third boat. The other two had a hydrofoil on them. My new boat does not. What are your guy's takes on them? Do you believe in them or not? Are they worth are they worth the money? They were already on my other boats when I bought them, so I never had the opportunity to try them without it. Lmk. Thanks
  12. Hey "splitg2" like the name. You must be a deer hunter also. I'm really liking this end of the lake so far. We are in leisure shores area. I don't know if you read my last post but I went over this past weekend and had an outstanding time. Good luck to you with fishing. Give me a shout if you are going to be out and about. It may be nice to pick someone else's brain. 314 808 0438.
  13. This weekend was great for me. Best trip I have had in a while. Saturday I caught 13, 7 were keepers. I caught them all swimming a grub along side a bluff wall at 36 foot of water. Or on a main lake point. (Same depth) There had to be wood nearby. I let the jig hit the bottom and would swim it out "super" slow. Sunday I started off with the grub again. I was using salt and pepper until I ran out. Then I used cotton candy. Pretty much doing the same as the day before. I only swam the grub for about an hour. Still had luck with it. Having not fished with the ned rig, but hearing but good about it, I switched to it. Wow! Using 1/10th Oz head with a watermelon red senko. I would let it hit bottom anywhere from 18 feet to 46 feet deep. Then just work it back to the boat. Most bites happened when it hit bottom initially. If not, it happened after the first twitch or so. Sunday I caught about 20ish. As hard as it is to believe "every one" I caught was a keeper on Sunday. The largest was a beautiful smallie 'tipping the sale at 4.05lbs. All of my fishing was near the dam. I fished about 4-5 hours each day. I'm not bragging just boasting. Lol. It doesn't happen like this for me very often. Since it did, I had to talk about it. Good luck guys!
  14. Hey tpierce. I echo everyone's remarks regarding "good job dad!" My youngest daughter enjoys fishing but not quite that much... yet. By the way thanks for the "confidence builder" near the dam. I'm hoping to make the 4 hour drive this weekend. Bought a, "new to me" boat, looking forward to taking it out.
  15. Champ (and those who think alike) I personally don't think it makes one look like a goober. I only state my opinion because it is meant to be a positive one. Unfortunately this evil world is full of "envious people." Ones who are jealous of others and what they have. For me I don't believe it's necessary for one to be sponsored by, or getting a "kick back" from a particular franchise just to advertise what they like to use. Examples are such as this: I purchased a humminbird unit for $800.00. With that came a beautiful sticker which I display on my boat. I'm not sponsored by them, should I not have that? I also have a "bowtech" sticker on my truck, again not because I am sponsored by them. It's because I like to use their product. As I look at your picture profile you have a photo of the Arkansas Razor back photo. Are you getting a kick back from the university? Probably not, does that make you look like a goober? I don't think so. Others may. Should we really even care what others think. "No." Several years ago I was looking at a boat on "Craigslist" it was "Busch" wrapped. I don't even drink. But the boat was the right price. Ultimately I did not buy the boat. Would I have looked like a goober? "I guess so" according to you. Do you think they are trying to say, "I'm a pro look at my boat it says it all." Most of them are just trying to enjoy what they, as well as many of us love to do. William Penn once said, "The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves." Can't we just all enjoy what the good lord has blessed us with? Can we not just observe another fisherman on the water with a wrapped boat or not and say, "Thank you god for allowing us all to enjoy this great sport." I am a recent member to this forum, I'm also in law enforcement, so thick skin, I have it. But this is already the second time that I have read negative posts. I hope this isn't a reflection of this sport. Because if it is, I don't want to be a part of it. God bless you all and have a great day.
  16. Awesome looking forward to getting some fishing done. Can't wait.
  17. I do have to preface this topic by saying I'm not promoting this "old idea," but I thought it would be an interesting topic, as some members may have lived through this very controversial time. The 1960's (not long before my time by the way.) I'm talking about damming the Meramec Rivèr. These dams would have impounded approximately 23,000 acres of the river and several other small creeks and tributaries of the major river basin. Thus making it about 40% the size of lake of the ozarks. The project was at one time voted in by the people,to my understanding. What ultimately "sunk the deal" (no pun intented) was an endangered bat species. I believe most of the projected flooded land was purchased by the core and later sold at profitable margins. This being some of the added frustration amongst the locals. I just wonder.....if the project was proposed today,and....if it weren't for the expense of the land, would this pass today? I do believe that there could be many advantages to it by creating jobs and resources such as electric, and additional revenue for the state, as well as flood control. Just to name a few. Though I realize there could be negative results as well. What would out the other,we may never know. My best friend's dad was a huge push against it. Emmitt Schlueter was his name. For those of you who are not familiar with this project just Google "Meramec dam proposal." Very interesting story, and as I said earlier, "very controversial" but an interesting read. I bring this up just to hear from those who lived through it. What were your thoughts or maybe even involvement?
  18. For some reason I don't have any sound. Volumes up but no sound
  19. Yeah, Hwy 13 area I'm pretty familiar with and usually do pretty good in that area to the white,James and aunts creek. But yes, well said in regards to table rock being very humbling at times. I love this lake it's twice as far from my house as loz but I would rather fish "the rock" even though I know lake of the Ozarks is a great fishery as well.
  20. Hey abkeenan. Just checked into the "techolanium." Sounds like some pretty potent stuff and I certainly feel it had tainted my lure this weekend. As I couldn't catch one to save my life. Haha. However I don't think I'll give up so easy. I have a feeling I may see you hanging around the "beard of the lake." Hope to see ya. Good luck and stay away from the "techolanium."
