  1. Fished near Still Waters Resort to the dam area this past weekend. Water temps were around 68-70 most of the time. I focused on points and secondary points based off the advise here on the forum, but also fished a couple pockets and just down some banks where we caught fish on that point. Had some fun on a topwater toad and buzztoad. Even ventured into the "jungle" as I called it and caught some skipping a toad around in the heavy vegetation. Biggest bites came on the outside edge of the tree line however. A big shaky head got the big bite of the weekend and second went to the buzztoad. The fish that bit the topwater were choking it down. I didn't get a ton of bites on it but never lost one that hit. About 10 or 11am switched solely to subsurface and kept catching fish on the worm as well as a Keitech. Only second trip to TR(even though I'm only 1.5hrs away) and again it was a pleasure, not always easy but ended up having a good day. Thanks for the input beforehand from the forum members.
  2. Thanks guys. Appreciate the help. Sounds like I have the right stuff in mind for gear. Curious is anyone is getting a crank bite going in the lower end of the lake. I love the wart bite and missed some time on the water when it was probably best.
  3. Thank for the report Curious to know if you were using small or big plopper? I'll be coming down this weekend and trying to figure out what topwater to have on to start. I'm down a rod too so I have less rods to use.
  4. Hello guys, I'll be coming up this Friday from Rogers for a little getaway and staying at the Stillwater resort by the dam. I called today and they said their ramps are open for what that's worth. Im hoping to get some insight into what I should look for in order to get a bent rod for bass. I'm guessing all post spawn by now? I know the lake is up around some vegetation or was at least, is it worth looking shallow of is it better to get off the bank? I'll have my finesse gear ready but would love to be able to catch some other ways if it makes sense. Lastly, I'm always watching for debris, but is there much down that far right now? I appreciate any general insight and will gladly report after the weekend my results. My fishing will be mainly in the morning and evenings and within a 5 mile radius or so of the resort.
  5. I fished a couple hours each morning this weekend. The wind on Saturday sent me home early. Conditions both days were windy and mostly cloudy, with Saturday seeing more sun. Water temps were around that 49 degree mark. Between about 4-5 hours of fishing combined, I landed 8 with 5 being keepers. Including a 3.5lber on the first cast Sunday. That was sweet! I couldn't get anything on the jerkbait and wasn't having much luck with the crank, so I switched to the spinnerbait and got bit by some good ones. Around docks and wood. It was a slow retrieve on a Colorado blade with 17lb test flouro. Thanks for the insight and I will report back next time I'm up. On a side note: let's all remember to remind others as well as ourselves about what fishing line in the lake can do for animals and such. I caught a bunch of it while out this weekend and I hate to think how much is out there I didn't find. And finally, when you are loading or unloading your boat, get prepped off to the side so others can launch while you do so.
  6. Hope you got out wrench. Here's my report.
  7. Bass fished from about 8:30-3:30. Water temp started at 45 and by the end of the day about 48. Put in at the state park and stayed quite close all morning, then made a run to Linn Creek at the end of the day. Ended up catching a dozen with 7 or 8 being keepers. The best one went about 4 lbs. Good quality fish, all were eating well. There was a lull during the middle of the day. I used two rigs the whole day.Craw pattern crank and a jerkbait, both on 12lb flouro. Most of my weight came on the crank: bottom contact was a must and a slow retrieve and pause worked well. Bigger rocks seemed to be best. The jerk worked around some shallow brush piles, where I actually watched the bass come out and get the bait. That was awesome! The rest came from main lake docks. I don't know how that compares to anyone else, but having not been here since Thanksgiving, I was happy. Especially since it started off so cold this morning. I hope to get a few hours in the next couple days and will report back.
  8. Well done!
  9. Thanks guys. I will give you a report when I can. I plan on fishing most of tomorrow.
  10. Hello guys, I'm making another trip up and thought I'd see what was going on as far as fishing. I'll be reporting back after the weekend and will be happy to share how I did. Two questions: I usually put in at a private ramp on Y road near Linn Creek that's on the main lake but worried that it's too low to do that this time. Is there a nearby public ramp that I can use that is safe? Otherwise I'll probably put in at the state park. Second: I've bass fished Beaver and Norfork recently and cranks and jerkbaits have produced. I assume they will work at LOZ. Any other obvious patterns to look for? Thanks fellas. I'll be in an alum grey Ranger/Yamaha and with my yellow lab. Say hi if you are out.
  11. Welcome! Not in the loop on stripers but someone here might be able to help out. As for your gear and bait needs, Hook Line and Sinker on the east side of Rogers will hook you up. I will be out this weekend bass fishing but always on the lookout for stripers. Will let you know if I find anything
  12. Maybe no else does.... I have tried that style but feel more confident and have more success fishing slow. That being said, if I have a pattern that is working, I have no problem working fast in between. For example, I was at LOZ a couple weeks ago and found every bass near the main lake docks, specifically on the points. So I'd power up the big motor every time I was done with a point and run to the next one. But I slow down once I'm at my destination.
  13. Nope. Lol i posted on a different day the pic and didn't want to double post. But since you mentioned it
  14. Wanted to let you guys know how the rest of the weekend went. Apologize for not getting it out sooner. Hopefully something can help someone else. I fished all weekend, (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) but not all day. Mainly from about 8-1 or so. Fished main lake around MM28 or 29 I think it was, and then Linn Creek. Water temps were 58-60 pretty consistently. Best bait for me was a buzzbait with swimbait trailer around docks near points and secondary points. Also got some on rocky points. I tried a Spinnerbait but could never get one on it. I found a few on a Keitech on a jighead as well. I'd be curious to hear any ideas why I couldn't get a bite on the Spinnerbait, with the buzzbait working so well. They are obviously focused on bait. Thank you for the suggestions and help. I won't soon forget that big bucket mouth that went almost 6lbs Thanksgiving morning.
  15. Went out for a couple hours this morning. Water temp stayed around 59 and it was calm and overcast. I fished a white buzzbait the whole time around mainlake points and docks. I landed six and lost just as many. My best is pictured below, 5.86pounds! A personal best, so thank you all for the tips. All were released safely back from where they came. I wish I had all day but had to get to family traditions. I'll be back out for more tomorrow.
  16. Thanks. I appreciate all the help. I figured out some things this morning and had some success. I'll post later. All I can say is, I wish our Thanksgiving dinner could wait until dark cuz I'd still be out there!
  17. I went into the back of linn creek and it was covered in birds, and shad. By the time I was back there it was cold and windy, so I trolled a Flickr shad around for a while and got a drum. Lol as for bass, I had on a white or black buzzbait and tried to cover water. The bass was off a lay down I got on the buzzbait. No hits around docks and I had a hard time finding many laydowns to try and get a pattern on.
  18. I must have been in the wrong area or not doing something right. I had one white bass and one LM on topwater and couldn't get anything else going for a long time. Lost a nice one from under a dock too. Got cold and windy didn't it?
  19. Thank you to all. And anyone else who adds their input too. Sounds like a no brainer now. Let the record show, I like my in-laws. I just can't drink and eat heavily for four days straight . I will be out in an aluminum Ranger-Yamaha with a 90lb yellow lab. Swing by and introduce yourself if you are out and we cross paths. Now I need to catch fish so I have something to report.
  20. Hello guys, well im making the pilgrimage to the in-laws tomorrow night and staying until Sunday. They live on the main lake close to Linn Creek. I'm probably going to bring my boat if anyone gives me an excuse to do so. I'll happily report any success or failures I have afterwards. Been seeing some of the whites being caught and didn't know if there is any of that where I'll be. I'll also fish for bass. I'm hoping for some direction on where the bass are this time of year. Not specific spots, but are you catching them on moving baits or not. And focusing on creek arms or more mainlake stuff? I appreciate any guidance. I won't be fishing all day every day as most will understand, but if I have a few hours and the weather is decent I'd love to catch a few fish. Thanks for any help.
  21. Good job. Thanks for the reports. Were you pulling bait?
  22. They aren't yet. However I see why people think it. I don't know about mechanical issues but they are doing some warranty work for me on my trailer tomorrow.
  23. I think Doc meant the Elite. I get the two mixed up too. Everett has a really good system. And in fact if a fish dies they fillet it up and freeze it for a fish fry, because they have a big tank for reviving fish. But the Elite has no systems whatsoever from what I've seen. And therefore more dead bass afterwards based on my own experiences
  24. Have a very similar story unfortunately, from the above mentioned place. Rogers Outdoors has been good to me and I know works on Yamaha. Might give them a call. Hope you can get back to running soon.
  25. Hello fellas, first time reporting on here as it was my first weekend fishin TR. I'm on the Beaver Lake forum some as that's where home is for me. I was staying at Still Water resort and got a few hours of fishing in and thought I'd share. Water temp was 83-84 around Indian Point. Weather was warm and sunny. I caught some fish way back in creek arms, even some on topwater during the middle of the day. Shallow enough to see the wake behind my spook. But nothing of any size. Wasn't any wake boats either I lucked into a magical main lake point that I only wish I could have had more time to explore Sunday mid morning. I marked some fish in 25-30 ft and so I backed off and threw a shaky head and immediately landed a nice spot. I repeated the cast with the same result. Four out of six casts I caught 3 2lb spots and a 1.5 smallie. All of em fought excellent. They wised up to the shaky and so I dropped a Robo worm down and over the next half an hour or so caught about half a dozen. I had 10lb bag within an hour and would have stayed a lot longer if it weren't for a lunch date I wasn't allowed to miss.(I still love my in-laws, but...) Thanks for letting me borrow the lake for a weekend. I will be back and hope to have at least half as much fun as i did. My wife took some photos of the fish but you've all seen 2lb Ks before. I will post one that shows the video game fishing outcome that I thought was kinda cool. Hopefully the iPhone post will be ok.
