Had the whole day on Friday. Got started about 11 and fished until 4. The water clarity was a lot more browner since previous trip last Sunday. Perfect crappie water to me. Made them high in the water column. Rigging straight meat 4 feet down with several hitting just under the surface at about 2 feet over 11-12 foot of water. Ended with 13 to be released at Lake Crisco. God Bless, good fishing Lance

Got a hall pass Sunday again after church. Got started about 1ish. WT 44 and dirty.... Pretty close to perfect... They were stubborn at first for about hour. Basically nipping at the bait, short striking... Caught about 6 but they just were not hammering it... I started downsizing my minnows to the smallest I could find. Like a 1”-1.5” minnow and that was it... They got mad and cracked out a limit quick after doing that. Rigging 11-10 fow, 8 feet down, straight meat Shut it down about 4 and got back home by supper... Yes, hooked up and caught several throughout the years... The past couple years I haven’t caught as many or hooked upped to as many. Don’t know why. 2016 was nuts though... Caught limits on several trips They don’t really mangle my rigs because I use a lite wire hook that straightens once they get to pulling. They also always run off on hook up an don’t ever run into my lines. White bass... Now that’s a different story 😡

We had a similar discussion about this last year about this time of year. Members had their doubts that I had a reading of 37 degrees... Thought my graph was wrong... (Two days later it was frozen over for about two weeks) Just like this time as last I was way, way, way, on up river where it’s colder. The lakes temps might run more similar more in the main parts of the lake? idk Thanks.

Sorry for not posting in awhile. I haven’t fished Beaver much since like the beginning of August. Maybe 4 times to just hide from the wind and run around looking. Went elsewhere in Arkansas... Yesterday got started after church around 1ish and had a limit by 2:30... They were mad🤣 41 degree WT, rigging straight meat, 9-11 fow 8 feet down. Good choice with rods. Use those with power trolling with up to 2 oz or 3 oz wts. My BnM BGJP are my work horse ones. 14 foot are good. Lighter and have better fish control. 16 ft I just prefer for being slow and stealthy

Sure thing... Yeah rigging deep is not my favorite. If that’s only place I find then so be it. Don’t know what poles you use. But going that deep 18 plus feet. Go to a 1oz rig to avoid a bow in the line. Keep it vertical at best. Also if your poles can handle that wt. Summer time power trolling you’ll be over deep water but only 11-15 feet down. Thermocline plays a part then. Deepest I’ve ever rigged for them was on Dardanelle in the winter 25-30 feet down. Just awkward reeling a 16 foot pole. 🤣 If this lake behaves and it’s like the past few years you’ll find them shallow consistently from mid December to the end of the spawn😉 Good fishing Lance

Man you just missed the insane post spawn river bite in July. By then it dies down. You’ll still catch them just not many. Since your setup to rig. Give power trolling a try in that post spawn time of year. You can control your baits much better. Spend more time catching fish then fighting them lines 50-75 feet behind you. I haven’t been on Beaver much since July. I just trailer my boat elsewhere. Rather catch them in 10 foot or less of water than 25-30 foot in July and through the fall. Learned the better quality of fish live shallow most year around but you have to be on a lake with the right water conditions to do that. Beaver ain’t it. Go north if you got to stay on Beaver by then. Back to winter time rigging. Winter to me on Beaver is when crappie fishing is at it’s best. Enjoy them days when that water temperature is down in the high 30’s and catching them laying in the mud on their bellies rigging Just so much fun rigging shallow. Meaning 10 fow or less.... It’s that stalking and stealthy fishing technique. Like a tiger hunting his prey 🤣🤣 Guys got all their flavor. Jigging their deep planted forest, shooting docks and praying the thing flys the right direction and maybe hook something 🤣. They all good techniques. Choose what you like and what works for you. You’ve made a big investment in a rigging setup. Stretch those rods out the the front and go to work. It takes time to learn it. Don’t give up. Channel edges and ledges yes. If it’s creeks or main depends on that wind. They at both. Over main shallow flats too , still depends on that wind if in a creek or main flats. That’s where I’ld start. Good fishing Lance

Sorry for the late report. My little girls summer activities are keeping us going on the weekends. Got started close to noon Friday. WT was 82-83, pretty clearer water than I what’ve been fishing Tried new water this trip that haven’t fished in over a year. Got set up and took about 45 minutes until I got bit. And then another and then another. So figured that was the pattern for the day. Kept that boat in 25-30 fow 12-15 feet down. Rigging silver bullets between .8-1.2 mph Steady bite all day feeling that thump with them eyeballs!! God Bless

Got started about mid day Friday rigging double minnow rigs. WT was 87-88. Thermocline looked to be 15-16 feet in 20 plus feet water.... Minnows would get stiff if put 15 feet down... I can see on my graph but, I’ll drop a minnow down for a couple minutes to be sure that’s what I’m seeing.... Last Sunday the area I was at if I would put them below 10 feet they would get stiff.... Does a heavy algae bloom also make it set up that thick? Also does it make it difficult fishing Wasn’t catching anything in the depth I been in the past several trips 18-25 fow 12-14 down. So went to shallower water 12-14 fow and there they were just hanging out with my bait down 10-12 feet. Grind threw a zillion shorts and was able to roll out with 10. Pics below. Sorry for the late reply. Been on dad mode for the past couple days around here. This pattern should hold throughout the summer and into a little of the fall. I’ve always been told the hotter it gets the better. It seems to hold true I reckon. Single pole fishing timber and brush along flats and channel will work too. It’s just not the technique I prefer in the heat of summer. Bluff lines with timber will hold them too. I just avoid brush and timber all together being that I rig.... That’s 8 new rod tips and a big dent in the bank account! The bite has been very good this past month and it continues. Better than the spring to me. They’ve had a long hard but, good spawn and their hungry. Suckers are sickly skinny. That 2 week ice age back in January must have killed some shad. Rigging and pulling Bandits, Pico’s, Flickers, Arkie’s, Hot n Trots all are working, along flats, after flats, after flats and channel edge once it gets hotter in the day and they start pulling water. Figure thermo out on the graph... 18 feet last time. That eliminates water and you know you got to be above that. Figure wind direction and follow them as the water recedes. So far much better than it was last summer. Still can’t figure that one out. Must of been the high water level for so long and it was much cooler. Beats me... Good fishing

Little late on the post. Didn’t get to go my usual Friday like always. Went over to Tulsa to go see George Strait.... Yes I’ll admit I have a man crush for the guy🤣. Anyway... Got started Sunday after church about 1pm. Water fleas were everywhere....🙄. Other than that it was great conditions to be out and the bite was pretty steady as long as the wind was behind my back keeping my speed steady. They turn and face their noses into it. Ended with 14 before hall pass ran out WT 83, rigging straight meat along flat after flat after flat. Pics below. God Bless

Took a friend from work and his young son yesterday. We only had one rod down in the holder while setting up and already had a fish on. Shortly after a couple more set up and had a double. We had his son busy handing us minnows and putting fish in the kitchen pretty much the whole day.🤣🤣. Went through a lot of dinks yesterday and used every minnow we had in a good helping of a 6 dozen count. Pretty much the same pattern as last trip. 81 degree water temp, stained water to clearing, Rigging double minnow rigs, 20-22 fow, 12-15 feet down was the consistent bite, but there was times they seemed to be scattered throughout the whole water column. Good fishing and great fellowship yesterday. Had a lot of laughs and a good time. Been a couple weeks since on Beaver. The flood one week. So went to Lake Fayetteville and last week gale force winds. Didn’t stand a chance in the tin can. Been on daddy duty all weekend but, got a hall pass after church Sunday. Ran the direction where when I turned around and set up I would have the wind to my back and my speed would be more consistent. This time of year I like open water. Crappie move out on the flats and channel edges following the shad and start to feed aggressively to get their weight back on after the stressful time span of the spawn. During this time of year they want the bait moving fast. Pulling cranks, long lining, or rigging heavy rigs. Went with what I have confidence in and rigged. Stick and move😁 Targeted 20-25 fow and went by depth I’ve caught them in the past. 12-14 feet down. Water temp 81. Clarity light stained I guess. Ended with 14 before running out of time. Hopefully this summer pattern and method will stick for a bit and won’t be a dead summer like the last. Nice fun peaceful afternoon. God Bless. Sorry for the late post. We went to the dogwood festival yesterday and just now getting to this WT 60-63 Friday. Water clarity is terrible... Clearest I’ve seen it in awhile 😩 My plan was to move in shallower rigging along them bushes. Thinking maybe them females might be sitting shallower than previous trips before. Well after spending too much of my day searching and not catching a single crappie shallow. Finally my stubbornness listened to my head and moved out on that channel edge and bam bam! Should have listened to it 30 minutes into fishing. Because that’s when the doubts set in😂😂 Left them biting. Needed to get home. Talk about a good weekend to be on the water. Crappie population a little less after this weekend for sure God Bless

Thank you sir. Might try and run down there and get a bottle or two. I’m not completely sold on it yet. But if it’s cheap than I’ll keep trying it out some. Yes males are on the bank with their war paint on. Easy pickings 😁 I’ve thought about wading them bushes when the wind is extremely high and rigging is no go. Just take my boat to where I want to go, slam it on the bank and go to wading. Done else where, worth a shot I guess one day. Thanks again
