  1. Glad I have made plans to spend the weekend at any place on the river so far this year. As a wade-only fly-fisher, I can't get near the water! Almost wish I'd kept the money for my trout stamp.... Guess we waders will have to hope for better water next year? Why run generator(s) all but 4 hours during the evening? Scott (maybe I can go to the Gulf) B

    The moss?

Was at the White yesterday, down by Gaston's fine place. The wife was wanting to wet a line and see about handling(although very briefly) some Rainbows. She did catch a few small ones! But she was battling this light brown, slime looking moss all the time. What is it? Does it always float so thickly down stream? And does it go away? It was downright nasty....and she doesn't want to go back and have to 'deal with it'(never see it in the Little Red). Any help to convince her on going back? BTW, photo's are fun too....... Scott (slime everywhere) B
  3. Weather sucks for even the ducks! I don't mind getting wet if it's 90+ degrees F, but when it's lower 30's Scott (whiskey is fun too) B
  4. Curious....having had a 'no hit' weekend the last trip I made. Figured I should try something different for this next trip.... How long of a leader do you fish while there is no generation/slack water happening? I currently fish about 5-9foot of leader, and I'm wondering if it is enough to catch those spooky low water fish. Oh, and it's 5x typically. Scott (throw me a bone) B
  5. When and where would a fella find some nice walleye......without a boat? I seem to remember someone saying that the walleyes generally inhabit the Narrows Area, but the 'story' stated that this only happens during certain times of the year.... Scott (like to try if it's possible) B
  6. Only time I've had a chance to fish the Spring was during camping trips in the summer.... Luckily, I am an early riser, and would beat the canoes by a few hours. Once those canoes start coming, they come in big packs and drive they fish to the bottom for the rest of the day. If the drive wasn't so long, I could see trying to land a few of those big chunks.....very nice! Scott (drunks in canoes are fun though) B
  7. Wasn't holding my tongue in the correct position I guess.....nada. Threw everything I could think of? Not the first time the river just didn't produce for me, and it probably won't be the last. Maybe next weekend, have too many logs to run across the sawmill to go tomorrow.... Scott (better then a good day at work though) B
  8. Sorry, yeah a quadcopter can be called a drone, but the term drone just seems to be so closely thought about as some the military bombs villages in some third world country..... I actually have the DJI F450 with too many bells and whistles to list, but the important part is the gimbal with a Hero 3 Silver set for 1080p. I have a smaller 'trainer' quad that I learned to fly into trees with, and it has been very helpful to keep me from doing the same with $1,200.00 worth of high tech! Thanks for all the welcomes everyone....on the way out the door! Scott (think I'll pull on a trout face) B
  9. How did those cone headed woolly buggers do? I had thought about tying a few of those.... Did you get a chance to sling any dry flies? Scott (nice fish) B
  10. I was originally curious to find out whether or not trout have the 'engrained thought' to search out and eat flesh after spawning season.... I will try tossing these for awhile tomorrow and see what happens. Of course, if it works, I might not share the secret But I probably will.... Scott (as long as it ain't my flesh) B
  11. Looks like the chances of rain are minimal tomorrow? Fingers crossed.... Been seeing generation for four hours on Saturday mornings(looking back through the last couple weeks), will just have to see once we get there though.... Cars already packed, alarm clocks set, and coffeemaker is on 'stand-by'! Dam site or Cow Shoal, that's the only question remaining before the drive north.....maybe a flip of the coin? Scott (photo's forthcoming of course) B
  12. Not sure I understand? I've never tried fly-fishing for bear...but I'll try anything once(or five times if it's fun). Actually my question is about the dying or dead fish you speak of.....is there a 'kill off' happening or something? I haven't heard about anything like this.... Scott (bear flies look like donuts) B
  13. Curious.... Has anyone ever tried "Flesh flies"? If so, any hits? Any catches? Reason I ask is quite simple, fish have a few pieces of brain matter....wondering if there is anything 'buried' in the matter to indicate they should eat rotting flesh from spawning fish? Scott (okay, I can't fish today) B
  14. How often do they do maintenance? Everytime I have clicked the link I get a screen that says something about 'currently offline for.......' Scott (guess the sale was short) B
  15. Fishing kayak? Or am I seeing something else behind that fish.... Low water, or high? Fly fishing? Scott (looks fun) B
  16. Thanks guys. I can tell ya the wind wasn't any easier in the Norfork Tailwater, wife and I each caught one Rainbow(C&R). We have a meeting to go to this Saturday, but the weekend of the 13th....pending rain, we plan on being at the Little Red throwing sowbugs, olive woolly buggers, and a few zebra midges. Scott (hoping no rising waters) B
  17. Fly-fishing, quadcopter flying, sawmilling, woodturning, gee...I have too many expensive hobbies! Wife and I are trying to get back to a more user friendly, fishing lifestyle....thanks for the forum. Hope to give as much as I can share, and I might have to pick some of y'alls thoughts too! Scott (and the work and website too) B

    Trout Selfie

With a GoPro? Pretty close!!! Scott (nice troutie) B
  19. Currently use a GoPro Hero 3 Silver on my quadcopter, but I sure would to be able to use in some of the fly-fishing I do. Need to get a waterproof case for it, and maybe a polarized lens filter.....and maybe a harness for my chest(not sure I'd want it on my hat/head). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urUuFEKXCek&list=UUKiWtJ1zVEF1JXdGyQ76fPw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3xT5_Arl6I&list=UUKiWtJ1zVEF1JXdGyQ76fPw Haven't had a chance to do anymore flying for awhile....I still need to get some more practice before I fly my quadcopter down a river to get footage......that's for sure! But I will eventually get enough footage of fly-fishing to make something worth watching. Scott (BTW, sorry about the lame music) B
  20. Thinking maybe it's time to go this next weekend? Anyone want to go and share some fish stories?!?!?! Scott (maybe those ducks are getting in the way) B
  21. Even though we arrived early, the water was falling. Wife landed a 15" Rainbow on a #12 bead-headed olive-woolly-bugger right at the parking lot(dam site) on maybe the third pass with her 3wt. Gave a nice short fight and then she snapped a photo and let it go, of course the photo wen to Facebook with me tagged, so I got to hear about that for awhile until I took one. Mine? Much smaller at 11-1/2", Rainbow on a #16 BWO fished dry....not much of a fight to it after I got in out of the mild current. No photo, as I fumbled the poor thing out of the net and 'whoops it' back to the stream. Water dropped three feet after those, and then it was all but exercising the casting arm. A few 'tail whacks' at my dry fly offerings, and 'bumps' to the wife's differing woolly-buggers.....we called it a day and went to the Norfork Café for a great burger and onion rings!!! Water: Dropping and clear to about 40" temp was near 50*F Scott (should have brought the squirmy worms) B
