  1. Where did you find this report? I was hoping to head down there this upcoming weekend so I wanted to keep an eye on the conditions
  2. I tried a version of this recipe a couple of weeks ago, but with brown and serve biscuits instead of the pie crust. Just couldn't seem to get it right. When it was refrigerated it was fine but once the bait warmed the cream cheese just made it really sticky and it fell apart on me.... Hopefully you aren't quite as inept as I am at making bait ?
  3. Went to Maramec this weekend.... Fished from the buzzer at 7 until about 7:30. Caught 5 quickly, though no surprise there as it was the morning rush. I left and came back with the family around 10am. We fished below the cable where the bridge crosses over the stream just below the hatchery. We did really well catching 5 or 6 in a period of an hour or so. This was the first time I've been to Maramec in 5 or 6 years, but I used to spend almost every summer weekend up there as a kid. I usually fish the wild trout creeks and streams. One thing I really noticed was the amount of quality sized rainbows being caught. Seemed like almost everyone who was catching fish had a couple 15"-16" on their stringer. Also saw a 5 1/2 pound rainbow get caught just below the cable in the current. I'm sure that one snuck in there from the hatchery, but just seemed like overall they were stocking larger fish.
  4. I would say that is definitely a successful day on BSC! After a weekend of "cheating" at Maramec Springs, a picture like that has me itching to get back out to BSC!
  5. Thanks all for the replies. I went out again a couple of weeks ago. Fished further upstream but only caught one 6 incher in the riffles. I'm kind of tired of getting skunked ? so I may head out to Maramec Springs this weekend.
  6. I browse this site a lot for tips but this is my first post. Went out to Blue Spring Creek this past week. I parked at the pull off of Highway N and fished downstream to just below where Highway N and Blue Springs Road cross. Not much luck. I drifted small nymphs, san juan worms, and wolly buggers under an indicator mostly in the faster moving water. The holes are tough to fish because they're usually surrounded by brush and downed trees. I just started fishing this creek last summer and this is probably my 5th or 6th time out there. The water is much deeper and cloudier than it was this past summer. Seems like that would make fishing much easier. I caught a nice 14" rainbow last summer in the big hole that's just below where the spring comes out from camp Mihaska. Other than that just a few small 4"-6' fish in the faster moving water. Last summer I went out with a guide and saw quite a few fish in holes above the Highway N pull off but they're tough to sneak up on and reach and they're pretty good at hiding beneath the undercut banks and downed brush. Has anyone been out there yet this year? Any tips? I'll definitely be going out there quite a bit this year since it's in such close proximity to STL
