Man, I would have jumped on that last spring. I have cards in both my units now. Got anything else to trade? Or I'll take $40 for both.

Hope me to finding someone that types as bad as I do funny didn't offend you. I thought the post was funny. Not making fun of anyone in any way. Sorry if you took my post the wrong way.

Thanks guys. I Appreciate all the honest information.

If your taking your young daughter and the actions not fast she'll get board quick. Got 2 kids myself (5yrs and 11yrs old). I would take her after the bluegill around the docks. Put in at state park and fish around the docks close to the floats with worms or crickets and a bobber. Should have a ball and good eatin if you get any bigger ones. Don't know how to tell you on the night fishing in the hot months. I have had better luck dropping lights in May and June. Good luck. Hope you and your little girl tear'em up!

Nice bass and great looking fly!

Haha...Yeah what he said! Lol

Brother Dave...Sounds like you know your stuff. I'll be looking for your reports. LoweSTX175...I have been wanting to try the 9s and looks like I'll be picking some up friday. Thanks for the info. SmithvilleSteve...It was sunny skies last Saturday when we went and didn't bother the small eyes but didn't catch a keeper eye one. On the smalljawz I would concentrate from the mouth of the Little Sac Arm from Edge Island down to Price Branch on the north side. Just my input but I have had good sucess there on the smalls. Good luck Hope you slay'em!

Yes sir. Me 2. Have ran 2 rods with 5s and 2 with 7s in late spring for suspended crappie and the 5s out fished the 7s but not many times. I carry both sizes and try both that time of year. When they're on the trolled crank bite the 7s fill the meat box in my boat.

Ment size 7 flicks and chart pearl color. Have been questioned about water temp already. We fished daylight till noon. Last time I looked at temp was 87 around 10:30 or 11:00.

Slow for me as well. Its tough to fish and catch fish in this heat. Don't know unless you go, right!

Didn't find any on Friday morning on the Big Sac Arm. I almost fished Little Sac Arm. Sounds like I should have now. Haha. Thanks for info bud.

where to buy "live crickets" and preferred way to rig?
slab slinger replied to wareaglecamo's topic in Stockton Lake
Some Wal-Mart's are carrying them now. I know the one in Republic does for sure. I just catch them at night around the house with the kids using a flashlight, they love it. I rig a cricket under the collar with a #6 gold aberdeen hook. This doesn't kill them if done right and let's them do their thing. I have caught big bull gills, crappie, bass, catfish, and even a few carp on crickets. Great live bait love fishing crickets with the kids. -
Auto correct Really makes me sound stupid sometimes. Haha

Fished yesterday with me wife. Put in at Mutton Creek and headed to the flats looking for whites. Nothing surfacing at all. Graphed the flat and found several schools of bait but no bigger marks present. Headed to mouth of SONS and graphed alot of bait balls and fish in 35fow but couldn't get what ever it was to bite. Trolled jigged and vert fished with no bites. Had enough searching for whites so went to my best PVC site and started catching a few crappie. It was slow for as many fish showed on graph. Got 3 keeps in 1 hour and moved to my 2nd best PVC trees, same story there as well. Headed to some big MDC piles and marked several crappie just started to get on the fish when the pleasure boaters and jerks came out of the wood work. Got feed up with rough water from a boat pulling a tube. Took up the whole cove and came between use and the bank twice when i Just gave him the cove and left. We both got hot so decided to break out the umbrellas and do some trolling on the flats. Picked up a double right away, both small eyes. Continued trolling in 15 to 25 FOW. Caught several more small eyes no keeps. Switched locations and got out the BB and Crawler Harnesses on a long point in 20fow. Again several small eyes. Talked to MDC agent doing the spotted bass servey and he said hasn't seen or heard much about the whites surfacing yet. Gave up on the fishing at noon and spent the rest of the day swimming and hanging out in the party zones. Not a great day fishing but it's tough in the summer month fighting the heat and boaters. Ended up with 8 keeper crappie thats it. *Water temp 87 *Best crappie bite 25fow on glow chart southern pro tube 1/16 oz. and Mike's custom jigs glow chart same head. *Walleye caught on size I flicker shad chart pedal and purple fire tiger. Some on BB and Crawler as well. Good. Guys, I didn't hurt them any! Haha. Guys

www.jmmaolneandson.com has the best explanation on the hybrid crappie and black nose crappie I have found. They are a fish stocking company that breeds the hybrid crappie black/white cross and the black nose strain as well. Both crosses are used in pond stocking.
-
Kentuckyangling.com claims the state stocks the Black Nose crappie anually in Dale Hollow Lake due to popularity and low spawning sucess. Says it's just a black crappie with the stripe genetic. I was told by a MO warden the info in my first response. I asked him about them after he checked me with a hefty stringer of them wading the Finley. Sorry about the somewhat false info guys.
-
Thanks for info guys.
-
Crappie with black stripe...I call them Mohawk crappie. They are a hybrid crappie cross developed for pond stocking. They don't reproduce like the black/white strains. Have caught several on the James and Finley rivers. Most likely they washed out of someone's pond.

Thanks for info maybe there's hope of finding some scrappy whites for the wife. They usually gorge on brook silverside minnows in the large creek arm coves this time of year. Sounds like I'll have to do some graph work to find them in the shad balls.
-
Well dang it. They should be boiling on the flats loaded with shad fry. Weird guess the high water has everything messed up. Thanks for info.
-
Should be that time of year. Has anyone seen any surfacing whites anywhere on the lake? Headed to the lake this weekend with the wife for our anniversary and am trying to put her on some fish. Gonna give the crappie a shot even though it'll prob be slow. Can't help it That's my favorite fish. Haha. Need a back up plan. I was thinking whites or just trolling for whatever's hungry. Thanks guys.

Glad to hear you had a great time on the lake with your grandkids. They will remember fishing with grandpa years from now.
