The ones I have fished so far this year are in 8-10 ft of water, and are only a ft or so below the surface!

I highly recommend the "find mo fish" app for your smartphone. It has the locations of the brush piles on it, and the cell phone service is usually good enough that you can zoom in far enough to get you pretty close. If you allow it to use your gps location you can get right on top of the piles. They set a lot of large cedar trees last year and it has seemed to improve the fishing already this year!

Yeungling is the best. I wish we could get it here... Nice shrooms- I have struck out so far this year.

Everyone stay home. Crappie are NOT biting !!
crappie-hunter replied to VJMAC's topic in Stockton Lake
They are not biting great, but if you can find them, you will do ok. I was in my spot before sunrise, and they were biting right up on the bank. As it got closer to noon, they kept moving out. Then eventually stopped biting. Tried dragging cranks to catch a few whites, but only caught tiny ones. Have they moved out of the lake yet? The eggs in these females are ready to go! I did talk to several guys at the boat ramp who didn't have any luck. Most of them only caught 3-5 fish. -
Any crappie reports from CC bridge area?
crappie-hunter replied to crappiecatchingbrad's topic in Stockton Lake
The coves north of cc have been productive at sunset, not sure about mid day. Let us know how you do- I plan on being on the water when the sun comes up tomorrow -
that's exactly how I catch them. I try to stay where my cranks are hitting the bottom every once in awhile, it seems to trigger more hits. Sure you lose more cranks that way, but aren't you there to catch fish anyway?

The agent last night was not pushy and very polite. He looked in the live well but did not have me get any fish out to actually measure them (all were plenty big enough, and I obviously was not close to my qty limit). I have also been checked on the jacks fork of the current river, and they just asked a few questions to be sure we knew what the regulations were at that time. We were floating during the smallie catch and release only time frame. The only agents I've run across that were a pain in the @ss were in Oklahoma during the spoonbill run, they are pretty pushy and snoopy.

I will look into this, thank you.

Found some crappie on the banks last night. Fishing was slow until sundown, then it was on. Every once in awhile you could see the crappie swirling the water pretty good at different places in the back of the cove, they were making beds. Caught on minnows under a cork 18inches deep or so. The overall size is great this year, only caught 2 that were too small. Couldn't stay too long, kids wanted to go home, and we had enough to eat! There was a conservation agent checking live wells at the cc ramp when we got in. Only 3 females in this mess. good luck!

I have been fishing Stockton over the past year, and have been following this forum for approximately the same time frame. Is there a map floating around that has all river arms and major coves labeled? I have been able figure out some of them, but sometimes you guys could be talking in Chinese for all I know! I figured "zarrapedia" might have the knowledge that I lack...

Lots of people were trying last weekend around the cc area, but few were successful. We were jigging visible timber in one cove and saw another boat catch 4-5 crappie right next to the bank, but the action was far from furious. There only keeper crappie we caught were on trees in 8-20 ft of water.

I fished up turnback creek as far as I could go, and didn't catch a single white. In fact, we didn't catch one all day.

Maybe there, but they aren't on the banks anywhere around CC. We looked for them on the banks all day, but only picked some up on brush piles in at least 8 ft of water. Only saw one cove where we could see a couple crappie being caught on minnows under bobbers by the bank, but that's it. The eggs in the females we did catch are not quite ready, but should be on fire soon! Got tired of looking for crappie and threw plastic worms for bass in the middle of the day and caught 8 keepers and a ton of shorts.

Download the "find MO fish" app. You can use it to find where the MDC brush piles are, and you see where the ramps are, etc.

It's all in how how hold the fish:) Same bass, held differently to show how how much different it makes the fish look!

Daily limit and possession limit clarification needed
crappie-hunter replied to dan hufferd's topic in Stockton Lake
And it applies to fish in your possession at home. If you have more than 8 in your freezer, you are not supposed to keep any others until you eat them. That's where most people are bending the rules, but if you should get your freezer checked and you have more than 8 walleye in there- it could amount to a fine. -
Jigging brush? Using minnows?

I'm in the same boat, I can get the slower speed with my trolling motor but my batteries don't hold up for a full day of fishing.
-
I'm thinking of investing in the "happy troller", but I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with using troller plates. Are they worth it? I have a 35hp johnson on a 12 ft v bottom. Trolling with that motor moves me around the lake at 3.5-4mph, and I would like to slow it down. Any advice would be appreciated!

Does anyone know if the campgrounds are still open to camp in? I know they usually shut off the water and electric sites after October 1, but I'm wondering if I can still camp there anyway. My preferred campgrounds would be cedar ridge or hawker point. Thanks for any info!

All the walleyes were caught on cranks too. Chartreuse and black seemed to be the one they hit the most. Was also using silver and black.

I was out today today too. Fished out of Mutton Creek along the bluffs. Caught 5 with 4 keepers and 5 largemouth all bigger than 15 inches. Caught all but one of the bass by trolling cranks in 12-20 fow. All were caught along the windy banks at mouths of coves. Plenty of wind out there today!

Hawker point has several spots where you you can pull your boat up as well

That's some good fishing, any pointers with depth and baits used, etc?

I haven't been to the lake in almost a month. Has the level come down much? Has anyone heard how the cat bite is? Thanks!
