  1. I put in at CC tonight and ran up turnback and fished the deep side to the right. the water temp showed 72 on my electronics, had to be due to the rain this morning. I set out to slow troll with minnows and jigs, and my 7 yr old started throwing a curly tail jig and catching crappie on the bank. I couldnt let him show me up, so I started casting too and we had a great time. Ended up 8 keepers, but I couldnt tell you how many little ones we threw back. The bite was very light, and we had several nice fish spit the jigs back at us when we got them close to the boat. Only one of the smaller females had eggs, this is the first time out this year that most of my crappie were not egg carrying females.
  2. Will this amount of rain turn the crappie off? I had planned on driving up and fishing out of CC with the kids this evening, but don't want to drag them up there if the fish are gone be tight lipped.
  3. still fishing out of Mutton?
  4. Thanks for the info. Good luck this weekend- tight lines!
  5. the map came from the MO dept of conservation. Its an app that I have it on my iPhone and my iPad. Its called find MO fish. I use it all the time to plan out where I want to fish. When you are on the water, your GPS will put a blue dot on the map to show your location and you can pull right up to brushpilles. Its pretty accurate too.
  6. Is this the cove on the right you are refering to? I see one brush pile that the MDC set, but I am not sure if this is where you were directing me.
  7. Thats a great fish. what were you throwing at them? plastic worms? Ill be camping and fishing at hawker this weekend.
  8. That's crazy, glad to hear you are ok. Everything else can be replaced....
  9. i plan on fishin late under the full moon this weekend as well
  10. Are any of the coves around hawker point any good for crappie fishing? Im camping there with the family this weekend, but Ive never fished it for crappie this time of year. Ive caught some nice bass, walleye, and catfish up there later in the summer. Just wondering if I should spend my time there, or if I should take my boat farther down to the creek arms where I have been catching crappie the past couple weeks. Thanks for any info!
  11. I agree that the information on here is extremely valuable. I grew up learning how fish on Kansas farm ponds, and now Im learning that those skills dont translate to large lakes very well at all! I made my first trip and fell in love with Stockton lake last spring. Ive taken my family camping and fishing there countless times in this past year and the quality of fishing never disappoints me. This forum helps me keep up with were the fish are and their current holding patterns since I cant fish it regularly. Sometimes the things you guys talk about are foreign to me, but it is no doubt helping me become a better fisherman on this lake. Someday I hope to climb on a boat with someone and learn some other tricks of the trade. I may not be a "salty stick" yet, but I love to fish!
  12. It's definitely more work!
  13. The biggest one and my pride and joy:)
  14. I must have been in the wrong place tonight. I had the kids so I didn't spend a lot of time "looking around". I put in at cc, and went north to the first big cove. There are 2 trees/large branches in the middle of the cove, and that's where I picked them up. Didn't catch very many (7) but the smallest one was 11in, they were all females, and the largest was 14inches. 6 fow and 18in deep
  15. I'm new to fishing Stockton. Where is "the road?" Is that right across from the cc boat ramp? I'm heading up now to try and put my kids on some crappie, I was out early this morning and caught 11 keepers- 4 better than 13inches, the others all 10. Caught most in 8fow 3-5 ft deep on the edge of the river channel.
  16. Thanks!
  17. Is there somewhere in greenfield to buy minnows? I usually bring some with me, but always looking for new spots to buy bait.
