Does anybody know what the water level at Caplinger Mills is like? Fished there about a week ago and it was just about right to catch some fish and not have to wade out. Curious what the water level was like so I don't waste an hour and fifteen minute drive to find out its very low. Thanks

I am taking a buddy fishing for his first time this weekend. Wanted to do something simple like drop minnows. Was curious what areas would be good? Not looking for any specific fish just to catch some of anything. I was thinking of tying to bridge piers or hoping tree to tree in maze creek?

Just curious if it possible to launch a boat at the ruark bluff public ramp right now for a person by them self with the water levels like they are? Mainly have they adjusted the dock? I know Cedar Ridge public ramp isn't accessible right now

Taking a few buddies out fishing saturday morning who dont get to fish a lot. Want them to just get to catch some fish (any species). Plan was to drop minnows at bridge pillars. The other idea was to go tree to tree in maze creek and drop minnows there. Any input on those plans or others would be appreciated.

Saying "Main lake" is very broad, but i understand not doing the same thing if its not working.. which we did, and we got different results. We've had plenty of nights over the last few years where we limited out on crappie and threw back 100+ shorts so i know those spots can be productive and it's hard to move very far away from what has worked in the past. I think our next trip we are actually going to go shallower, so we'll see what happens

Ended up all catching our limit of cats (with 4-5 of them being pretty good sized). Then keeper 8 white bass and 3 crappie between us. Fished 28 FOW at many different depth. Still not a great night but the catfish fights were fun and the meteor shower was awesome!!

I was thinking bridge piers might be a productive spot. We are going to fish a deeper flat this time and see what happens. Thank you

Will be night fishing in maze creek tomorrow night with lights & minnows. Last two trips havent been very productive with the trip a week ago ending with a whole lot of minnows and zero fish. Fished the channel last week. We always tie to a tree and fish all kinds of depths. Any advice or suggestions? Will post with a report thursday.

Night Fished in maze creek from dusk to 1:30am. Dropped our lights and had more baitfish circling the boat than i have ever had while night fishing. The crappie on the other hand didn't cooperate. Between the three of us we only caught 5 crappie: 1 9in, 3 13in, and 1 14inch. Also had a few whites and small cats. Fished all depth ranges in roughly 35 FOW (no depth finder so guessing here). Still fun to be out on the water on a great night.
