  1. EEK but this new adventure is costing money. But, probably should start keeping the wallet in a Ziploc bag at least. I lost a tan mult-pocket Bass pro vest between State park and the dam last month. Wouldn't have happened if I'd had the thing on.
  2. Well now I probably got jinxed and won't even catch drum. I just got some Jokers and rattle head jigs, though. I've caught carp on gray feather jigs back in the 70's down Maze creek. My boss threatened to throw me out of his Richline. Of course, he said the same thing about bass. He was a true crappie fisherman. Middle of May saw his boat upside down on the trailer until the next spring. I found some of those old feather jigs the other day. A card of them from Walmart with individual stuck on tags read .08 cents each. Wow.
  3. Sure hate to hear that. Mine is off for no apparent reason. I used to climb radio towers for fun. Now a 7 foot step ladder gives me the willies - as does a rocking casting deck. I will eventually get wet. Just hope it waits for warmer water.
  4. Yeah. I shouldn't have said that without explanation. It was the office people causing the problem. The rig shop had been moved to the west side of town and by the time I got there, it was almost dark! I had lots of questions to ask and they just didn't have the time. They were closing! But, they seemed friendly and helped me get the lights working. (This year they all come with the round connector - I bought an adapter to plug into my new harness and had no idea that white wire needed grounded I'm closer to Crabtree and have only been to Masters once, but like that part of the lake better. I'll bump into you eventually. Keep a bumper handy.
  5. My equilibrium is not what it once was... I like it so far. Needs to be wider right off. Not very stable. You should see me in the wind trying to tie a knot in a jig. But been 30 years since I had a boat and it was just a jon. Heritage seems to handle OK. Better than I expected on rough water. 40 horse gets it down wind at 30 MPH or just over. Can cruise around 20 at 4500 RPM. I like the helm position and can stretch my legs out while driving. I've been in much fancier boats where I felt cramped behind the wheel. I think I like the natural aluminum better than paint. I slid it up on a rock bank without worry about scratches. Have new sonars coming next week so will see how many sheet metal screws are stripped! Rod holders are an after thought. Not secure and the tubes won't take spinning rods. I'm a spinning rod guy! Live well is about the right size for bait, but so far has not been a problem Bass Pro is a major disappointment, I must say. They are in the process of moving around to new buildings and that was part of it. I didn't even get a good idea of how to use the thing from them and don't feel I can go there for help. Have a local Mercury warranty shop and hopefully won't need even that.
  6. My dad was from the depression and they ate what they found, but I remember a fish market in St Joseph as a boy where they sold drum as well as buffalo. I've never had either. I've eaten white bass, though. A guy can get hungry for fish!
  7. Anybody tried eating one? I know they did up along the Mo river years ago. People up there tend to get bored and try anything. I haven't caught one since the 80's. I've been so skunked lately, would probably try one myself!
  8. Standing was my first idea! Try that in a small Tracker on Stockton! This thing is as stable as a 12 foot canoe in the wind. Thought about those taller poles and a butt seat. Might go that way. It would give me more room to move around also. Thanks.
  9. Bought a Tracker Heritage last month. Getting along OK but the fishing seats are killers on my back. Not really sure why. They are about like all the other Tracker seats and feel OK, but I get bad lower back trauma after a couple of hours. Has anybody tried the Milleniums? JC
  10. Sign says they will be working on habitat those days. Weather Guessers may change that, but that is just my guess.
  11. Used to do it on Niangua arm of L of O, but they cleaned the habitat out of that lake before it filled. Interesting possibilities. We held the rods back then. Rod holder would be nice.
  12. Does anybody do that on Stockton? I figured too much brush was left behind.
  13. They make money! Wimped out and bought the 3 blade like I had. Seemed to work fine for me. UPS here tomorrow. Sure wasted a nice day today...
  14. Hey I got no ego left! You could show me where to throw the hook. Been a long time an I have never winter fished. Reminds me. Need another excuse for when it warms up... Amazon has the Spitfires for $147....Don't even know what pitch I have. Waiting for the ice to melt off of it.
  15. Is a 3. Cheapie, if you can call that cheap! Yeah. Kidding, of course. Saw something on youtube about guys blaming the wife on prop damage... I got up against the east end of the rock face at the dam. There should be a marker there! Man that happened fast. 2nd time on the lake. Still no fish to show for it! Got one blade. Very fixable. Figure would buy a new one and fix that one for next time. Thanks for the advice. Looks like Fair Grove is my closest bet.
  16. Wife did it
  17. Reminds me of the day Ford announced the end of the in-line 6 in pickups.
  18. I wonder about that... Sales guy in Springfield was unaware of that (many other things, too!), but I have heard rumors to that effect. And, believe the fine print said something about the free cover being good until spring.
  19. Trim & tilt, yes.
  20. Nothing like a new boat! No boat for 30 years. They say it might be warm and sunny later in the week. I hope it will be OK. Very small livewell. Lots of metal filings to vacuum out of the bilge yet so wonder about quality overall. But price was too good to pass up. Not sure how many they intend to build so went ahead. No videos on youtube yet by new owners. Seems strange.
  21. If I pass you, I'll flag you down for a closer look! Sounds like fun. Lettered my new Tracker Heritage yesterday, but wimped out on the wind. She is still a virgin! J Creek

Why not! Got it yesterday. Got the licenses today. If it ever warms up and stops snowing I can get the numbers on the nose. Sat in it today...

Unfortunately they say I don't get that until after the boat. Extra gas tank and some plugs should use that up!
  24. Hello all. New to the forum and just found it over the winter. I live a few miles from a ramp on Stockton and haven't fished extensively since the 80's! High time I got going again. Have ordered a new Heritage from Basspro and waiting for word to come pick it up. Like to fish for about anything, but love to eat panfish and bass. I'll try not to fish it dry . It's been so long I don't know where to start. Dug out the old Mitchell spinning reels and oiled them up. Need new line! I'm still trying to figure out what to buy for the boat. Got a hank of rope from Wally last week....There must be something else and I'll figure it out once I get on the lake I'll wager. Don't laugh at my first few launches. It's been 30 years! J.
