  1. This was exactly my thought after today. I launched around 2 and stayed out until around 8. Caught a few but spent most of my time running from wake boats and jet skies.
  2. I am in the same boat more often than not!
  3. The water clarity is pretty good now. There were some wake boats running so the banks had some mud but I could see down about 5 feet in a lot of places. Its starting to look like normal beaver. Water temp was around 67-68. I agree! It was nice to just get out and say "I wanna throw a fluke" and catch some fish. I love taking my dad out this time of year, he doesn't fish much so when they are biting well we always just have a great time. I'm not ready for the summer time pattern yet! lol.
  4. After a rather crappy finish in a college flw on ft Gibson Saturday, I decided to hit beaver Sunday for a little fun fishing. I got out about 1 or so and headed to coose, my go to stomping grounds. As usual I was looking for the green fish. I just wanted to have fun and catch em and relax and enjoy the weather. Had a few good ones on a fluke with one going almost 3 pounds if I had to guess, he came off at the boat. Once again I hammered the spots on a few boat docks with a fluke and Kietech swimbait, lots of small fish. I noticed a lot of decent fish up real shallow but most were easily spooked or locked down on either beds or guarding fry, at least that's how they acted. All in all it was a nice and relaxing day, ended the day with about 15 fish with a few keepers, mostly spots. I'm excited to have some free time in the coming weeks with the semester ending, that means more time on the water!
  5. First time posting picks, hopefully they turn out. That golden rule is 22 inches for perspective
  6. Its always fun when they are schooled up like that! My dad and I caught around a dozen off one dock, no size really but just some good fun.
  7. Fished the FLW's will fish for kids charity tournament today, was an amazing experience getting to fish against names like Scott Martin, Brian Thrift, Matt Arey, and the Beaver lake champ himself Scott Canterbury among others. David Dudley brought in 23lb 8oz today. Lots of 12-15lb bags as well. My partner and I only had 3 to weigh but it was all in fun. After the weigh-in I went back out to just fish however I wanted and ended up doing really well. Caught some LM on a spinnerbait, hammered some spotted bass off of docks throwing a kietech in little Coose and then got to enjoy a quick blitz from some nice size striper. Caught two striper, one on a spinnerbait cause thats what was tied on when they broke the surface and then one on an A rig. One weighed 7 pounds and the other around 12 if my scale is accurate. After that bit of fun I picked up my old man and we jumped from dock to dock in Coose just wailing on the spots with topwaters and swimbaits. All in all it was a fish filled day and a perfect way to spend a monday! Hopefully ill figure out pictures in a bit!
  8. Little update: fished an hour or so today before registration and put a 3lb 8oz and one more 15 inch fish in the boat. Two solid largemouth in about 10 minutes of fishing. Had to call it good but I'm excited for tomorrow. Nasty weather but hopefully there will be a good bite.
  9. As the title says, finally made it to beaver. Havnt had the time to fish this lake in months but after working at the FLW expo today got to ride along with a buddy in his rig for a few hours. We fished up just past hickory creek for the last few hours of the day. Only caught about 6 fish and only 1 would have kept with another lost on the way to the boat. Not much to report but figured its better than not saying anything! We were fishing square bills, shad colors. The water definitely looks much better up river and was hovering around 63 for us. It was nice to get out on Beaver again though, Ill be out there some tomorrow and fishing the FLW childrens miracle network charity event Monday so hopefully Ill have some good info after that. Goodluck guys!
  10. Haven't been on beaver in months, just been too busy with school, work, and then the fishing team here at the U of A has kept me on some other lakes. Haven't posted in a while but to be fair, haven't touched the waters of beaver since last fall. I am ready to be back and will be providing my boat for the flw's charity tournament they are throwing monday after the tournament wraps up. Never participated in anything like it so I am excited to get out and meet some of these guys. I can relate to the boat repairs situation as well, new gear case going on my outboard now which has also kept me off beaver, table rock decided to give the lower unit a little kiss for me. Good luck in the tourney Mike! If i remember correctly you fish the Everett right? I worked the weigh in with a few other university guys last time and believe I remember you, if so very well done sir!
  11. Nice fish! Glad you were able to get on some! Nothing more satisfying then putting your mind to something and accomplishing it!
  12. Nice fish! Wish I was cashing in on that action right now!
  13. That's what I'll be doing! Thanks again for the insight!
  14. I'll be stopping by hls to check that out, that's a good amount of line for 10 bucks. Especially for a broke college kid. Haha. Thanks for the tips though!
  15. It was a mix of p line Florocarbon and some mono, either suffix or something else I can't quite remember. But all line is off the reels so it's gonna change haha. Thanks though guys for the input!
  16. I was breaking 8 pound and then broke on 10 as well. So all the line on those rods are coming off. Tied with Palomar and clinch knot and switched back and forth. And it always broke the same way. My line isn't old either. I take care of my stuff too. It was just one of those days, live and learn kinda deal I suppose. I might have missed something but that's part of it. Never had an issue like that but I'll figure it out!
  17. Had a college series event out there today as well, only weighed one fish for that. But first was only 6 pounds. Caught a bunch of short fish and had a lot of missed opportunities. I couldn't pick up a top water bite for anything, caught most on a drop shot. Had issues with my fishing line and broke off a half dozen times on hook sets. Gotta figure that out. Good day, just really slow for us.
  18. Haha sounds like a plan!
  19. Hope you get into a mess of them! Goodluck!
  20. Oh I am sure someone out there can catch them. Haha, I just am not the guy. At least not at the moment. I am still very early into learning how to use my electronics and such to catch fish and also stepping away from what I wanna throw and fishing what I need to instead. But i will get there eventually. Hopefully its by friday, cause saturday is my last qualifying tourney before our college series championship and i need a good finish. Haha.
  21. Seems like it's fishing tough on these sunny days. Hopefully this rain chance later in the week kicks off a better bite for a bit. It was just a beautiful day to be on the water though, I do love fall on the lake.
  22. I finally got out on beaver for the first time in about a month. Launched out of prairie creek and had water temps mostly around 72-73 until later in the day. Fished mid lake mostly and only had a one keeper spot and a largemouth short of the mark by half an inch. Caught several more short spots, all on a fluke early but that bite seemed to die off quickly. Fished several different spots with cranks and drop shots with not much to show. All in all it was a really slow day for me. Although I did find something pretty interesting, or so I thought. Had a small backlash in my real so I cast out towards open water to get the rest out, had the fluke on still and was sitting in 65 feet of water at the moment, started to bring it in and had a half dozen or so small spots just come out of the blue after it. Wasn't expecting to see that, although it was quite amusing. Anyways, was good to be out on the water again, good luck to you guys that get out there this week!
  23. Thanks Champ! No worries smallie, ill let the guys know and we will keep an eye out for yall. Stay safe and goodluck!
  24. Of course it falls on the same day that the Arkansas Collegiate series fishes beaver. Its gonna be a busy day for sure. But ill be at prairie creek around 3 for weigh in, if you are out and see some guys wearing U of A bass team jerseys, come say hi!
  25. Thats just wrong. Had me about ready to call in to work tomorrow! Haha. Glad to hear fish being caught though, no matter the location!
