  1. Well that blows .......I always wonder if these graphs ever experenced a sealing problem, now I know. Another cause which can lock up the opening screen happens from shutting down the unit from an auxiliary power switch other then the graphs PWR key. Always turn the unit off via the units PWR key. Performing a "soft reset" usually corrects this.
  2. My report from this weekend is fair. Friday was my most productive day with with 12 bass, with my 5 best pushing 18 plus pounds. I headed back to Aunts creek and the same dock that hangs over the river channel. Jigging a spoon yielded a 6 and 5 pound larger mouth out of a bush located just outside of the dock in 40' of water. After that bite went dead I headed out to the center of the creek and started following shad balls picking up some fat kentucky's. I didn't get the quantities I had picked up last week, but the quality was there on friday. 18 plus pounds is a good tournament weight for this time of year. I had the pleasure of meeting Cajunangler and his father, thank you for introducing yourself. It's always nice to meet fellow anglers on the water. From reading your report Cajun you did very well. I bet using a spoon this time of year will be part of your tackle from now on. Went out Sunday and was humbled with only one bass swimming a grub. Talk about lock jaw, those fish just didn't want to bite for me. I worked and stayed in Aunts creek all day. I just couldn't leave the creek due to the shear numbers of fish and bait balls I was graphing. I figured it would only be a matter of time before they would turn on, but it didn't happen. The good news is the majority of fish are still holding 3/4 of the way back in the creek, so many more days of good fishing are on the horizon as the fish make their way out to the secondary points and mouth of Aunts.
  3. The storage and operation temperature range for your unit is from -4 degrees to +167 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees to +75 degrees Celsius). Temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit can crack the liquid crystal displays. Damage not covered under warranty can occur if stored or used outside these parameters. Here's a few things you can do. ....... Start with a "Soft Reset": ( soft reset does not delete GPS data ) 1) turn unit off 2) press and hold the Pages key 3) press and hold the PWR key 4) release both buttons when the USA map appears If that doesn't work then you need to do a "Hard Reset": ( hard reset deletes stored GPS data such as way points and trails that you have marked manually ) 1) turn unit off 2) press and hold the ZIN & ZOUT keys at the same time 3) press and hold the PWR key 4) release both buttons when the USA map appears
  4. You're probably spot on with you water temp guess for next weekend. The spoon fish I've been catching aren't "streaking", so I'm counting on the spoon bite to even get better as the water drops towards 45*. I almost pulled out a jerk bait yesterday, but when your catching it's hard to try something different. I did try a jig for about an hour without any bites so I went back to what was working for me. I just love bass fishing this time of year
  5. hehehehe...that's the spirit Happy Holidays to you and yours..........
  6. Great report edwin, I went out friday and saturday. I wasn't expecting much out of fridays trip due to the cold front, but it worked out better then I thought. Now saturday was a whole other story, it was a termendous day of spoon fishing. I pushed the 40 fish mark. Once again Aunts creek is holding a ton of bait fish. The bait fish have not moved out of the general area I'm fishing in aunts creek for over a week. Next week I should have a better understanding of which way the bait fish are moving. If I had to guess, I would say there moving towards the mouth of Aunts. I'm very surprised at the water temps I'm seeing....49* in the morning up to 50* by mid afternoon, then back to 49* at dusk. Anyone having any spinner bait success?.....I'm not ....thought 50* degree temps and bait fish moving in the creek arms promotes a spinner bait bite ?
  7. Did I hear FREE HOTDOGS ......count me in !!!! I'm always interested in learning about products. Even though lowrance is the best sonar produced, I would like to hear what Humminbird has to offer. I'll be there and I can be identified by the Lowrance shirt I'l be wearing. Looking forward to meeting you.
  8. Congratulations Eric on your appointment as Tournament Director for CPAA. They couldn't have picked a better person for the position. Your experience and enthusiasm for bass fishing is well presented, you're an asset to the industry. I have one question for you and one piece of information for you. Question: will you still participate in AIA tournaments? Information: You had made mention of my username S&M in a past thread ( something like, nice handle ) It's not what you think, lol.........it stands for Susie and Mike. You see, when you want to buy a bass boat, all you have to do it put your wife's initials on the engine cowl and you can buy as many boats as you want
  9. Bill, I read that, you're absolutely correct. IMHO now is not the time to be parking without an annual pass or a day parking pass. The corps ramps ( at least Mill Creek that I personally know about ) took a beating after the high water this year. That ramp looks like a war zone with all the craters on it, it's a mess. I really don't know of any other way for the corps to make repairs without issuing tickets for revenue. It's either ticket revenue or raising annual passes and day parking passes to make those needed repairs. It would probably be safe to say that most folks would rather see the needed revenue come from issued tickets. Excuse my rambling, I'm sure you are more then aware of the situation. On a brighter note, after thinking about this I'm going to stop by the corps and make a $37.50 dollar donation ( half of the cost of the ticket ) with hopes it will be used for repairs. Even though I have an annual pass, I failed to display it so the ticket was justified. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
  10. t1365, The spoon bite is getting good partner. I've been spooning for the last month and half. I actually picked up my limited with a spoon at the last AIA tournament. I just looked at the weather report and Friday looks like a better day weather wise, so I'm heading out then. It might be to soon after this cold front, but I'm a sucker for punishement. I just love spoon fishing when the bass are in full blown streaking. It's the best video game around when that graph turns into a light show. Hows the new boat working out for you?
  11. Here's some helpful information for those of you with an Annual Pass. If you still have your original sales receipt, save it. With that receipt you can get another annual pass in the event that yours is lost or stolen at no additional cost to you. If you don't have the original receipt, write down the 6 digit serial number located on the affixed day use sticker that is put on the annual pass and keep it in your wallet or glove compartment of your vehicle. At the last AIA tournament in my rush to get off the launch ramp to let others in ( single boater here) I forgot to hang my annual pass on my rear view mirror. After the tournament when I went to load up the boat I found a ticket on my window....( that's a $75.00 dollar ticket by the way ) About a week later I received a call from the Corps ( I assumed it was the Corps ) inquiring about the ticket. I explained what happened and he was nice enough to ask for my 6 digit number on the pass and revoked the ticket issued. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised. So keep that 6 digit number in a safe place.
  12. Fished Saturday and Sunday out of Aunts Creek for some fantastic spoon fishing. I motored out to the mouth of Aunts and graphed the point on each side not seeing much, so I started moving my way back into Aunts graphing each point to the mouth of the smaller coves. Still nothing interesting on the graph so I continued moving farther into Aunts. I spent about 15 minutes from take off graphing to finally find what I was looking for, an actual school of bass. I ened up about 3/4 of the way back into Aunts Creek where the channel bend tucks really tight to the shore line, there's two boat docks that sit right over this channel. The fish I graphed where located in the water column from 10' to 40'. I dropped down a white 3/4oz spoon and let it hit the bottom, one pump up and BAM, first fish on, a chucky 2-1/2 pounder. I worked the bottom with the spoon and picked up 4 more. Then I started working the water column watching my graph picking up 7 more. Out of those 12 bass, 8 where keepers with the best going 4 pounds. I left that area for about 2 hours to give it a rest and to explore some other similar areas to see if a pattern could be linked, no such luck with linking a pattern, so I returned to the honey hole and slowed down my presenation with a PB&J 3/4oz football jig. That presentation yielded me another 5 keepers. One thing I did noticed about these spoon fish is they where not streaking, which tells me the spoon bite will only get better and better in the next few weeks when they get into there full blown feeding / streaking mode. My perdiction for this upcoming weekend after the cold front passes is a full blown spoon, streaking bite. Looking forward to this weekend
  13. I'm amazed at the difference in water temp from one end of the lake to the other. I launched out of Aunts Creek at 7:00am this morning and the water temp was 59*. At 11:00am the water temp was 60* and at 2:00pm is was 61*. Spinner bait worked well for me today dead falling it next to trees in 20'-25' of water, also picked up a few with a jig. It was a wonderful day to be on the water
  14. Nitroman and Whack'em gave you some great advise with cranking on the rock. Take to heart what Whack'em said about an "eractic" retrive, bottom contact and bumping structure, this is a must for working a crank bait. I'll start throwing a crank bait when fall water temps hit around 67 *, and use it all winter. Now here's what to look for when on the water to use that crank bait effectively. 1) look for shad skipping along the shore line. Wind blown points and shore line are a must. 2) if shad are not visible skipping along the shore line, make a few cast up against the shore line. A lot of times the shad may not be actively skipping on the water surface, but they are there and will skip arcross the water when your crank bait hits the water. 3) Look for balls of shad on your graph, away for the bank in 20-30' of water. Crank above those bait balls, then hit the banks ajacent to those balls of shad. 4) to be really consistant with cranking during the fall and winter, you need to follow the shad. Trust me on this, your going to have one of those days cranking where you will get into schools of bass during the fall and you'll crank up 20 or 30 keepers in a day.
  15. Don excuse my late reply. I have marked in red the area I caught all my fish that day. As you can see this small cove is located across from point 10. The only other thing I could add is what type of crank bait I was using, that being a #5 Strike King Sexy Shad.
  16. The lake was on fire today, well at least the area I was fishing. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the Stren boys came in with a 20 plus bag today, I know I did. Caught and released 32 bass with 75% of those quality 3 and 4 pounders with a nice 5.36 for a kicker. Cranked one cove all day. The pattern with the crank was to throw up on flats and slow crank, I mean SLOW crank the bait back keeping bottom contact.
  17. I take offense to your thread. You have a lot of nerve grouping people together due to the boat they own. Your thread could cause some problems for Champion boat owners since some whackos out there would think they are doing the world a service by getting even with a Champion boat owner. Edit your thread and remove Champion boat owners Mr Babler, the brand of boat didn't cause your problems.
  18. I found your jig head weight test interesting and informative, but what really peeks my interest is this "copper hand tied" football jig? Would you please explain why you do this.....how you do this....and materail used to do this. Thanks, Mike
  19. Thank you for the date information, GETFISHED. Mike,
  20. What is the scheduled date for the Heartland tournament at Truman lake ?
  21. I'm with Don, it sounds like a large school of white bass. Next time you come across a school of fish like that, cast out a white jigging spoon past the school and let the spoon flutter through the school in a horizontal retrieve. Last year I ran into a school of whites that kept me busy catching 3 and 4 pound whites for 3 hours straight. I must have caught at least 30 or 40 whites from that school. A memory I'll never forget.
  22. Way to go Whack'em !!! It was a pleasant surprise to read this tonight. The win coudn't have happened to a nicer guy. At least that's how I have percieved you from this board. You always have something postive to say, and are a great contributor to this website. Keep on swinging, the mighty 10 pounder a waits
  23. Sam, I can vouch for Whack'em, I've seen Whack'em perform mouth to mouth resuscitation on a bass to assure it's safe and healthy return to the water. The man is an asset to bass fishing
  24. Here are a few things you will need for night fishing on table rock lake...... 1) boths running lights on at all times while fishing. 2) kevlar bullet proof vest. 3) a solution of sugar and water mixed in a spray bottle to spray on your fishing partner so the bats bother him while you're fishing. 4) a vessel big enough to make a 6' wake at idle speed. If I can think of anything else to make your night fishing experence more enjoyable, I'll post it
  25. How much salt do you put in the livewells ?.....and why is salt used ?
