  1. LOL! I'll keep to the physics forums. Mon/Tues are looking awesome.
  2. The biggest help may be not dipping down into the 30's each night. It seemed like for the last couple weeks, we would lose all the heat we gained at night. Staying above 50 at night this week might help...unfortunately, we don't have a lot of direct sun light. It's all about enthalpy!
  3. I have that exact same knife. I've been using electric for 20 years and will never go back. I've tried cordless too, but battery life, over-heating, and weight are issues. Corded is still the best.
  4. Beautiful day on the water with my boy. His first trip out in the new boat. The morning started off pretty cool, but got much better as the day went on. Not as much action as last weekend and the water is still stained. I noticed the water temp had dropped to 42 and got up to 46 by the time we left. Caught 6, but only 2 keepers. Really liking the new boat. It seems to track very well and jumps on plane very quickly. Attempted to troll a little and was able to get down to 2.0 into the wind with a 32" drift sock. I think I'll add another sock and be good to go. Tight lines!
  5. I figure this boat can do it all. I primarily fish for crappie, bass, and walleye. I'd really like to increase my walleye 'aptitude,' but we'll see. These Crossovers are the SUVs of boats. One word regarding my success on Sunday...brush.
  6. I concur with these guys. I haven't been living in the area long, but I always go to High Point because it's one of the closest ramps to me. I was there Sunday. The ramp and dock are fine. It's a little tricky to find at first.
  7. No attempts at crappie or walleye on this trip. I was marking bait balls in the morning, then they seemed to scatter by the afternoon. I traded in my deep hull 2011 Tracker Pro Guide 175 Combo for this boat (it's a Lund Crossover 1875 XS). In other words, that's a very expensive bass I caught. I liked my Tracker, but wanted to upgrade while it still had value. I also needed more seating capacity. The Tracker was rated for 5 while this one is rated for 8 (for the kids and their friends to go tubing).
  8. Took the new boat out for her inaugural fishing trip with my girls. I wish I could have taken my 4 yo son, but he came down with a sinus infection. Fishing was very good. Caught several large keepers including one measure 19.5". Put in at High Point. Water is stained. Warmest I found was 46 degrees. Broke in the new motor a little. She rode like a dream even in white caps. I was really surprised how well she handled in some decent waves. No bouncing at all. I'm really pleased with the boat. Six seats and plenty of leg room. I spent ALL DAY yesterday on Table Rock (Shell Knob) with my buddy in his boat. VERY slow. 4 bites all day. Glad I made the trip up to Stockton. There are a few fish around.
  9. New to the site (and area). I'm over an hour away and was just wondering if the lake is totally open water or if it had some ice. Sounds like it's going to be nice Sunday and felt like dragging some crawlers. Thanks
  10. I really appreciate the info. I've got pretty good electronics, so hopefully I can keep from getting hung up. I'm not going until Sunday, but I'll post the results. Regards,
  11. Ok...then I have to ask, what are the crankbaits of choice? How do you get them down to 15'? Best color pattern? Etc. We can certainly putt around and watch our pole tips. Thx
  12. Thanks for all the tips, guys. I think we'll have fun just checking out a new lake. Any fish will be a bonus. Minnows under slip bobbers are right up his alley. Dragging for walleyes might be fun if we get the drift right. I don't have a kicker motor and using the big motor will probably be too fast (and complicated for him). Tight lines.
  13. Hello all, Myself and family just moved to the area about a month ago. I plan on taking my 4 yo son out for some crappie and walleye fishing on Stockton as our first fishing trip in MO this weekend. Having never been on this lake, I was hoping to get some pointers... 1. Are rocks a concern / are they marked? (I busted a prop in Canada not too long ago, so I'm a little gun-shy) 2. I'm planning on launching from the Greenfield boat ramp since it's the closest to my house. Is this one ok (i.e. deep enough)? Should I launch somewhere else that is closer to fishing spots? 3. Can anyone provide some pointers on crappie and/or walleye fishing? I'm mostly looking for enough action to keep my son interested. He loves catching fish, but like any 4 yo, gets bored easily. I see a cold front is moving in, but going for it anyway. Any help is greatly appreciated!
