Ok, just arrived home. Friday we fished most of day. Everyone was saying the fish were not very active and it was slow. We did not have a good day as far as fishing goes and had somewhat of a learning curve as we had never fished for trout before. Went a lot better this morning, my youngest boy actually limited out. So the freezer has some trout in it now. We had a great time. The scenery was great down there and we did some hiking and toured the hatchery. We were a little taken back by all the many many fisherman thought. Despite that, everyone had a good time and is talking of next year already.

Ok, a couple of my boys have Zebco 33 type reels with 10 pound test. That is a good all around here for catfish, crappie, bass and whatever. So it would be a good idea to set them up with something lighter?

thanks, I will keep a close eye on the boys. My Dad is going to be along to so one can be with him and that will help, What about a stringer or how should we keep the fish if we catch any? Since there is a limit, what if I have our fish all on one stringer? What kind of stringer to use?

Sounds good....I'll take your advice. I've never been there so this is some valuable information for me. The youngest will be sit and fish......the oldest can handle pretty much everything on his own.

So next week I'm taking my three boys aged 8-12 to Bennett Springs. We do fishing closer to home.....largemouth bass, crappie and catfish, but this is the basically the first time trout fishing. What kind of equipment do we need? What zone should we fish in? I have quite a few questions and want to make this as successful as possible, but have never been there and really don't know what I am getting into. If anyone has some suggestions for us on how to fish there, especially considering my boys ages I would really appreciate it. thanks!
