I am doing my first set-up of a small Bass tournament for co-workers this weekend. I had a question asked me this week and I am hoping I had the rules right when I wrote them. The rule in questions was that there will be no trailering of boats during tournament hours. Had one of the teams question this saying that they fished semi-pro for years and they could trailer their boats anywhere on the lake after the livewells where checked. What are your guys thoughts on this that have done a ton of these small tourneys. Thanks in advance Jason
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot I just know that a lot of people on here fish small little tournaments. I am getting a little one together for the place I work and need to get a scale to weigh in the fish. Thankfully every one is out there just to have fun, but there will be some friendly competition going on. I started to look on-line and these things are a little spendy. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good resonable scale they have used in the pass for weigh-in. Thanks in advance Jason
One Morning me and my Wife saw a huge splash up on top out in the middle of the lake. We could see something still splashing out there and so we went to take a look. It was a spot about 10-11 inches that had been thrashed. I wonder if thoes fish hear JAWS music when they are out in deep water.
Was wondering if anybody has a water condition report on the upper kings.( Color, junk in the water, etc) Was going to put in at Hickory Hallow and go on up looking for whites tommorow afternoon. Thanks in advance Jason.
Yesterday as I was trolling with my SIX YEAR OLD up roaring river with a number of boats around, two guys that I thought I was far enough away from casted as far as they could and about put two lures in my boat right next to my kid. There where boats everywhere and I try to give people their space, but this happened to be a spot that my kid had hooked up with fish on the last two passes and I am sure they had seen it and moved in (which I could have cared less) It is only fish and try to treat people like you would like to be treated.
Got on the water at 5:30 and off the water at 7:30 with my six year old son. Had twenty whites all being good eating size males( 12 inches or so) with one big sow in the mix. Trolled with a crawdad color shad rap may have done better with casting, but that was going to be impossible with a six year old. Lots of boats and did see some fish being caught, but the six year old seemed to have the hot pole. All in all a good couple of hours.
Thanks guys I have pro guides right now, but thought they where just a couple of years old, turn out they are over four years old, so not to bad at all. I will be heading down to golden sometime this week.
50 feet of water!!!!!! How can you hit a blue heron on the bank if you are in 50 feet of water. Congrads on a great day fishing I am going tommorow, not sure yet what I am going to target.
Thanks guys that is just what I needed, the one for the co-workers is going to be fairly small, but we are planning on one this spring that may be a little bigger and need the other permit. Thanks again Jason
I am setting up a small Bass tournament for some co-workers this spring (10-15 boats). I have been told that I need to contact the coast guard or water patrol to get a permit. This has something to do with culling fish I think. I am having a hard time finding the right number to call to get this done. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jason
I have been on both ends giving out to much information and seeing a bunch of boats on the spot on the next day, but I have also been on the other end of working all week and getting some great information and being on fish I may not of found. Last year a guy posted some great information about some fall white bass up the James that turned into one of the best fishing days with my kids I have ever had. I appreciate all the people who post on this forum, they are on the lake a lot more than I am and really help at least get close to the right pattern that may be working.
I was wondering the same thing jeb. The pictures on my 797 are cool, but nothing like the bigger models. I am sure the the DI will be cool, but not sure I will get the pictures that Redbud is getting.
Would like to see some 797/798 pictures if any one has them. DI or SI
All of my friends are the same way. Take them out for some unreal striper top water action in the early AM and it is cool, but boat a 20 inch smallie later in the day and they act like nothing could get better. To each their own.
This was my guys first Striper and it is good, but I really wish I could have been his 10th because I know all he is going to do is get better. My fish was 43-44 inches long and 35+ pounds. I am a little surprised that you do not want to fish for them again, the top water action is the spring is unreal. How did you catch tht fish anyway?
