I meant to get out even earlier. Fish are really eating well as you can see. Perfect drifting conditions too. Lots of fun.
  3. yes it's 70 pounds of thrust, 24 volt system. Nothing wrong with them. I upgraded- bought heavier trolling motors with variable speed. These are 5 speed. The only issue I had with them is the speed different between 4 and 5. 4 was ok but 5 will throw you in the lake if you're not careful.
  4. Foot control. I'll add pics later this am.
  5. Bryan - sent you an email and introduced you to Rex Grady, a good friend. He says he has a resort listed on Table Rock.
  6. We have 2 Minn Kota Edge 70 lb - bow mount trolling motors for sale. 2 years old. They're in good shape but well used. $100 each. Cheapest I've found online new is $269.00 retail on Amazon.
  7. FLYWATER ANGLING ADVENTURES Steve Hollensed Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide FFF Master Certified Casting Instructor 903.546.6237 flywaterangling.com FISHING REPORTS Lake Texoma: 3 ft. low; 56-60 degrees; lower lake clear/upper lake very stained. Fishing is finally getting better but still behind for most years due to cold water temps. Fish are becoming much more active with more frequent feeding periods. A portion of the striper population is in the upper lake/river region for spawning. Other segments of the population are located on river ledges and at the mouth of a few major coves. Good areas include mid lake sections like the Islands, Rock Creek, Platter Flats, and Caney Creek areas. Sinking lines are required as productive depths are usually 12 ft. and deeper. I have found some shallow feeding activity but it does not last long. Sand bass are actively feeding in the backs of major coves. Overall the fishing is fair to pretty good and I see it improving rapidly with warming weather and the good water conditions that we have now. A good time to catch nice size stripers. Lake Ray Roberts: Lake level normal; 57-65 degrees; very stained/muddy in much of the upper lake. Bass fishing is slow. Best areas though for good visibility and warm water include Indian Creek, Lick Creek, and Sand Creek. Fishing main lake points is also a good spring spring strategy on Roberts. Use flies that imitate shad in the manner of a soft plastic jerk bait. Lake Murray: Lake level is normal; 57-61 degrees; very clear water on lower and mid lake, stained on far upper end. Fishing is fair to good for smallmouth. Fish are in great shape and very feisty. We are just coming into the window for some great smallie action for Murray. As water temps move into the mid 60's fishing should get better and more consistent. FLY CASTING * Loop Lab is full. The May 1, " Foundations in Fly Casting" class sold out fast. Our next session will be in 2011. Orvis Endorsed Guides Rob Woodruff and Doc Thompson still have a few places open in Trout Lab (June5/6 in New Mexico). * CONGRATULATIONS to Bob Garber for passing his FFF Casting Instructor Test. Bob is a fine caster and teacher. I look forward to seeing Bob on the casting field and on the water. * Private Casting Lessons: I have been giving lots of casting lessons this spring. Private, individualized, lessons often have the greatest impact on improving ones casting. Many are learning that casting lessons are a great investment when you are just getting into fly fishing and/or when you are going on that special destination trip. Casting lesson represent only a very small part of the total investment of a major destination trip, yet it can often be the most important factor in success and enjoyment. Gift certificates are available; casting lessons make unique, surprising gifts for fly friends and family. FACEBOOK As the fishing season progress I will be using my facebook guide page for quick updates, fishing reports with pics, and opportunities in warmwater fly fishing. click here: Flywater Angling Adventures to view and become a fan.
  8. Friend of mine went a few days ago and caught a ton of crappie, whites and hybrids. Fishing sounds like it's pretty good. He threw swimming minnows and jigs.
  9. The Spring River is primed for white bass fishing... that's all I can say. It's loaded! Not huge fish but perfect size for fillets. And hard fighting. Paul Crews, a long time friend and local to Neosho, and I put in at the Hwy 10 bridge at 4 pm yesterday and headed up river past a big shoal and another 1/2 mile and started drifting and fishing the slack side of the river. It was 64 degrees and stained - perfect I though. I had a 1/8th oz white jig on from fishing here on Taney so I used it and caught fish, not every cast but I had a strike on every cast for the next 4 hours, almost. We found a small spot that had a bunch of crappie too and between the two of us we kept 20 crappie and our limits of 20 whites each. Threw bad a ton other whites. Paul used several different colors of swimming minnows but the best on the crappie was blue... swimming minnows or a white and blue tube jig. Late in the day we drifted down and tried a couple of crappie spots and didn't find any. We drifted down to the big flat/shoal on the shallow side. Just as we drifted in the shallows and the motor dragged and stopped the boat, I turned around and threw out in the big water with a small sluggos and hooked a white. We sat there for 30 minutes till it was dark-dark and caught whites on every cast on the sluggos... lots of fun. We could have stayed all night but we had a lot of fish to clean and I had a 90 minute drive home. This is perfect fly rod water... Video to follow. Warning... Paul couldn't hook a fish on camera so there's not a whole lot of action there.
  10. Another one.
  11. Here is the pic of the striper, big no matter where you fish. Caught Tuesday by Ryan Eastwold in Bull Shoals in four feet of water, 10lb test mh spinning rod. He is not telling what the lure was. The fish was almost on the bank where wind was pushing bait fish up on shore. 48 inch level beside the fish for reference. 32 inch girth.

  13. Put in about 5 pm and tried a few places before heading in Swan. Up close to the dam in slack water. Down at Barker and the Willow Bank. Nothing. Up in Swan, we boated past the old dam. Water very clear. Did not see a white. One guy fishing the brush said he caught one white earlier. We trolled up further and saw nothing. Back down to the deeper water along the chunk rock and had one white follow a rebel. Fished all the way out to the bend- nothing. Saw one white caught before we pulled out. Water gun clear. Don't know temp.

  15. That sounds fun... Don't hear much about Truman Lake at all.
  16. Great! Not that you're stupid but you could play the second file.
  17. I'm going to upload a wma file as a backup if you're having problems with the mp4 file. Here's an article on playing mp4's. MPEG-4 (.mp4) MPEG-4 is an International Standards Organization (ISO) specification that covers many aspects of multimedia presentation including compression, authoring and delivery. Although video compression and file container definition are two separate and independent entities of the MPEG-4 specification, many people incorrectly believe that the two are interchangeable. You can implement only portions of the MPEG-4 specification and remain compliant with the standard. The MPEG-4 file format, as defined by the MPEG-4 specification, contains MPEG-4 encoded video and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC)-encoded audio content. It typically uses the .mp4 extension. Windows Media Player does not support the playback of the .mp4 file format. You can play back .mp4 media files in Windows Media Player when you install DirectShow-compatible MPEG-4 decoder packs. DirectShow-compatible MPEG-4 decoder packs include the Ligos LSX-MPEG Player and the EnvivioTV. For more information about the Ligos LSX-MPEG Player, visit the following Ligos Web site: http://www.ligos.com For more information about EnvivioTV , visit the following Envivio Web site: http://www.envivio.com/products/ Microsoft has chosen to implement the video compression portion of the MPEG-4 standard. Microsoft has currently produced the following MPEG-4-based video codecs: Microsoft MPEG-4 v1 Microsoft MPEG-4 v2 Microsoft MPEG-4 v3 ISO MPEG-4 v1 MPEG-4 video content can be encoded and stored in an .asf file container by using Windows Media Tools and Windows Media Encoder. You can then play these files in Windows Media Player. 19. Here's some pics from the day. Chris and Chase from Florida, all caught on white jigs. The rainbow was caught off the dock. Chase's brown looks like it was caught down by the C of O pump house.
  20. Sorry- I posted it in the wrong place!!! Norfork.
  21. Generation has slacken, finally! They've gone from 4 to 2 or 3 units and the level and speed of the water is noticeably different. I believe it will continue to slow due to the level of Table Rock dropping to almost power pool - 915 feet. We may see some great water to fish by the weekend. It's been hard to decide where to fish around here this week. Taney is fishing very good- I love to head to the dam and throw white 1/8th oz jigs although the trout aren't hitting them as well as I thought they would after seeing shad like they have. I thought after the water slowed it would get better and I was right. This morning I took a couple of resort guest out for a couple of hours of early morning drifting and they did take the jig pretty well. Actually, Chris did alot better than either I or his son Chase, landing a dozen rainbows and one brown on white jigs. The best drift, again, was from the first island down to Rocking Chair on the south side but we did catch fish from the cable down and from RC down past the boat ramp. Wind was laid, alittle rain and cloudy- excellent conditions. They still aren't wacking the jigs either... it takes alot of attention and fee and watching the line for the bite. They'll be taking white jigs for quite some time to come. These rainbows, except for a few, are big, fat and fight really hard. The browns fight double as hard. It's great to see them up there. Chris said they've been working the bluff bank from our place down using jigs this week and catching some real nice rainbows. Black/red looks to be the best color for them too. Still catching alot of rainbows on power bait, mainly Gulp eggs, drifting down the middle of the lake from our place down past Monkey Island. Babler did real well drifting down in front of the Landing the other day. Still catching those 15 to 18 inch rainbows too... I wonder if MDC is going to stock those all summer!! White Bass are running, crappie will stay shortly, bass are biting and trout fishing is excellent. Where do you go fish!!!???
  22. I'm bias, cause everyone knows I'm a jig man, but... take some jigs! 1/8th oz - white, brown, black, olive, sculpin. Work the banks, eddies, work them off the bottom. You'll catch alot of trout.
  23. Note to self: Don't mess with Burkhart.
  24. Vince and I ran up Long from Cricket Ramp about 6 tonight. Fished a crappie bank close to Yocum and caught one dink. Water is pretty stained- Vince showed my visibility was about 6 inches. We ran up Long to find clearer water. Got up where there was some current and started catching some whites. Ended up with 21. Nothing bigger than a pound; most spawned out. There weren't that many up there- picked up one here and there. Water was still stained but better than the main lake. Sorry, no temp gage on the boat I took. It had a DOT on it though.
  25. Are those whites or small stripers?
