Just felt like putting something on the board. Its been a long time since we have had water in the river. Hope all you guys are finding other places to fish....

Check out the Tulsa World website ( http://www.tulsaworld.com/ ) bottom of the front page, in the Video's section. We have ourselves a bit of a celebrity here! Nice job!

this is a waste. yes we will have to move south to Jenks if we want to fish in a manner relative to what we do now..Will it effect the striper? who knows....no one will say. Will I still have access? Who knows....Will I have a boat ramp? Will this cater to fisherman, the only people who really "use" the dam. Just a bunch of unknows. I do know this, no one other than the TU rowing team, Tulsa Rowing Club, and myself and maybe one or two other kayakers ever go in above the low water in Zink Lake. Citizens want water to do stuff they don't even do now. Here is the INCOG site with more info. http://www.incog.org/ark%20river/default.htm

nah, you should just leave it for me

Went out in the kayak last week on the Arkasas here in town. Took a nice photo from a still area at the headwater of the wave. Thought you guys might enjoy.

Let me first say, they weren't called on me!!!! Since the water was up yesterday and it was so nice, I went kayaking at the Wave Park. When I put in, I noticed a guy below the fishing the dam in shorts and no shirt. No waders, just shorts and shoes. Well apparently, when I was downstream at PSO, he fell in a few times, and passer by's on the bridge called 911 because someone was drowning. By chance I paddled up to the ramp just as this guy did the walk of shame up to the TPD and TFD. To make a long story short, the cops were pissed. They couldn't believe this guy was out there, alone, in 55 degree water in just shorts. They also threatened to call the game warden because this guy wasn't carrying a fishing license. Anyway, no tickets were given. Just an FYI that if someone calls 911 because they think the water is unsafe or whatnot, they will respond in force, and they won't be happy. The kayaking was good too....I should have taken a picture of the commotion, but I did get a good picture at the wave...

White bass are back in the main lake near points and on wind blown banks. Caught a fair amount of fish in 8-12 feet of water. The water color is still a bit brown, but is clearing. Catfish were biting jugs as well on cut shad. Water temps on Sunday was 68 around noon.

Went up last Thursday, stayed til Sat night. Water temps mid lake ranged from 53-58 degrees. I hear down by the dam the temps are around 60. Fishing was tough midlake...go to the clear(er) water in Duck Creek and Drowning Creek if you can. Hopefully it should come alive soon.

td, if you are learning to fly fish and want to fish the Arkansas, go on a Sunday when the water is shut down....which will prob not be anytime soon. The flow is too high in the river right now. Read some of the older posts from years past, and they will help you out.

Anyone been on the lake at all? Should be coming alive....

I talked to the City of Tulsa crew yesterday working at the dam. They are building a new kayak wave, truckin in loads of boulders...I'm assuming they are also making some repairs to the wall too. They are hoping a new wave will add interest in the Tulsa Wave Park. The guy added the work is to be complete by Friday (maybe). They are also doing some silt removal up river, as the migratory Terns are not nesting right now. All should be good once the water allows the fish to run.

thanks for the report..keep them coming. Can you post a water temp next time you are on the water? thanks in advance. KC

http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9105 Prob farther up river now. Probably at or near the Twin Bridges would be my guess.

I haven't had any luck the past few trips...anyone been able to get into the fish? I saw the water temp really climbed before this last round of precipitatioin. Wondering if anyone got out there this past weekend to take advantage of it..... Kelly

For the past few years, I have been planning outings based upon the "best fishing day" as stated by these calendars. By trips I mean days off work in the middle of the week, just because its the best day of the month. I believe in them fully. I just tailor my where and what to fish for based upon my fishing logs and the conditions. I don't think you can go wrong by getting out there on one of these "best" days. Its just another something to boost your confidence.

hot dogs! I don't believe it!

They are snagging around Sail Boat Bridge. They locate the fish on the graph, and go after it. They are using the usual snagging equipment, with the exception of the sinker. Gotta go heavy to go deep, these guides use up to 16 oz lead....Then basically troll around the area where they marked the fish on the locator keeping the hook at the depth the fish were seen. Good Luck.

Site unseen, with the lake being a couple feet down, I would say fishig should pick up a bit. The gauge at Pensecola only shows them pickin up 2 total inches of rain since Sept. 3rd. This shouldn't be enough to mess it up.

Yes, whites are surfacing. They are chasing schools of small shad. Clouday days like this week will be outstanding. Look at the areas of the lake around Shangri La. Should be no problem finding them once you spot the birds. These are LARGE schools. Only took one hybrid last trip.

The fishing on Grand is very good right now. The lake is murky, and the elevation is just above normal. They are slooowly lowering the lake to near normal. There is some floating debris, but overall fishing is doing very well. Whites are being caught easily on wind blown banks. The more wind the better. We found them from 7-12 feet along rocky banks and walls. Trolling rattling baits 1/2 oz. Color didn't matter once you got the depth correct. Largemouth seem to be doing very well. We caught several while trolling for sandies. These fish were coming from the flooded willows and the laydowns. Catfishing is great too. They are moving up towards the bank and are biting almost anything. The spoonbill have returned to the main channels and are very active jumping out of the water.

I havent been able to fish the Arkansas since March 25..The flow has ranged from near 50K to at the minimum 12k for the past month. Fishing will be outstanding once the flow slows down, but the pattern will be quite a bit different than the spawning runs. I will keep the non locals posted. FYI, the water temp is hovering around 60 degree.

Arrived Sat evening and did most the fishing on Sun. Was very windy, with the white bass stacked up on wind blown banks. They related more toward the man made walls rather than the shoreline. Was able to catch a 11lb flathead trolling a suspending shad rap in about 12 foot of water sunday mid day. I would say catfishing would be great at this time.

Heading up Sat afternoon to fish...this is the best I can get right now. From Ivan Martin Hello Grand Lakers! Could the fishing be any better! The black bass and white bass fishing is about as good as it has been in years. This is a big statement, but I believe it to be true. We had easy limits of whites all week and each time we fished for blacks we caught them too. The tournaments the last month have been great with a lot of limits being brought in. Oh yeah, I guess I have to mention the crappie. I cannot say anything good about the crappie fishing. What is wrong with them? The spoonbill snagging in the Neosho and Spring rivers is about over but below the dam will continue as long as the water is running. The catfishermen fishing around Sailboat bridge are doing well.. See you on the water! Ivan Ivan Martin, Martin Landing Guide Service

Hey Bill, Kelly here. Was able to catch 5 small striper on the Dec 29th at the west hole at the low water dam. The largest around 12" in length...see attached. The water had cleared a bit from the previous day when you were there...the flow was at 45CFS and the water temp at 9:00am was 41 F. It was overcast and windy as usual. Went back down this AM, and had no luck at all. The water is back to very murky as the rains the other day did nothing but stir up the leaves and dirt. There was a bit more flow today, the Corps web site is not updated, so I cant give an exact flow...guessing somewhere around 80 CFS. Will report back in here in the next couple days as the water hopefully clears.
