  1. Would it have been around 4 or so on Saturday? I was watching the lake cam and saw a few folks fishing off the dock. Looked all bundled up. Even saw a few boaters on the cam. Mikey
  2. Excellent video, Phil. I found a similar one at CopperFly. Here is a link to their half hitch, using red thread: CopperFly Half-Hitch. Or just check out their video's page: CopperFly Videos. Has good tutorial vids on starting the thread and hand whip finishing. EVen a whip finish with the matarelli tool (which I made myself from some stripped solid copper wire). Not necessarily for you fly tying vets but definitely for us rookie green horns. Mikey

    Seahorses?

is this baked in an oven or fried cooktop style?
  4. Now I wasn't implying that one could drown out the natural soun ds surrounding them. Perhaps I needed to be more specific. In between getting to the hot spots, or on the way to the fishin' hole Sittin' around at camp and the like... As far as my sounds: I'm starting to dig on Jack Johnson. He's acoustical and mellow. I also LOVE the older Dave Matthews Band stuff And the occasional rock from say... Alice in Chains, White Zombie, and CCR. Tastes are kinda all over the place. As far as what's on my mp3 right now I have no idea. The wife took control of it. SHe wears it when she goes a walking so I'm afraid to ask what kind of nonsense she's corroded junk with. MIkey
  5. So I was wondering. If you guys could pick a soundtrack to run while you were trout fishing the white (or anyplace in general I guess) what artists or songs would HAVE to be on it? Now, no flaming anyone based on musicial tastes, goodness knows I'd get strange looks. Mikey
  6. Jeremy, is that a nymph hook or a streamer? I'm having a hard time getting the bodies to fluff out like pictured, to hide the thread wraps where the yarn is being tied in. Thanks for the sheet, Dano. I've found it a few times on here. May as well save it to my HD. MIKEY
  7. Just a thought...at Lowe's the other day and the gift card tins they sell for a couple of bucks look about right for fly boxes. well, for nymph boxes anyway. mikey
  8. Worth 1000 words.
  9. FOrt Smith is at 32 and the rain is starting to freeze to cars and gras, etc. roads still seem fine around bridges and overpasses. haven't seen any salt/sand crews out yet tho. hope it holds off a bit. mikey

You haven't seen my recent attempts at egg patterns and wilson's trout crack. can't seem to get the eggs 'round' ya know? Mikey
  11. Fort Smith @ 4:30 and a very cold drizzle that chills to the bone. That's all so far. Thermometer outside work says it is 33. That's down 4 degrees since 12:30. Mikey
  12. Just checkin' the board on my lunch break....saw a couple of guys fishing off the dock at Phil's around 4. Anyone know if they ever had any luck? They sure looked cold... Mikey
  13. I guess my vote is a little skewed. It all depends on the reel I'm using. For some reason I can't convince myself to move the retrieve on my baitcasters to the left side (as I'm right handed)...but with my fly and spinning rigs I's left retrieve. Must be something to do with the reel mounted on top of the pole.... Geeze, I'm weird. Mikey

  16. I hate them darn birds...only water fowl I see when I'm duck hunting. Why can't I shoot 'em? ::grumble grumble::
  17. Might be heading that way in SEVERAL months. Wife wants to go to Branson on our summer vacation, and I'm trying to persuade her into staying at Lilley's instead of in town with my in-laws . Would love to let my oldest firsh off the dock...heck, I wanna fish. I was wondering though, is there any wade fishing near the grounds? Be nice to stretch my fly casting arm a bit too.... Wife told me only fishing at night and maybe before we leave for the doin's in Branson...which means early a.m. I'm fine with it tho.... Also, Phil, do you require 100% prepay or just a deposit to hold a room? Mikey
  18. Any chance getting a pic of what the hat you're talking about looks like, Phil? Personally I'd spend the extra to get one fitted or distressed/worn. But then again I'm juszt a kid and what do I know... Mikey
  19. Just got mine too, Phil. Wife didn't tell me. Just stuck it on the fridge and went to work. But I ag4ree, a fine sticker. Will get it on my truck... Mikey
  20. The most entertaining read all year! Two thumbs WAY up! - NY Times Of course you could have taught the munchkin how to tie a woolly bugger...
  21. Used to Opera would load images very quickly. Not sure now as it is no longer a free program. it was one of the first with tabbed browsing...10 years ago.
  22. Down here in Ft. Smith a digitizing fee is typically $65...so yra 90 is high. Also there are dozens of places online that can digitize images... Mikey
  23. Firefox user here too. I love all the great extensions and plug ins available for firefox. Also the large selection of skins is handy when you find one easy on the eyes. mikey
  24. Good lookin' jig there Dano.
