  1. Great outing and good looking fish! I'm still finding them elusive, went out Thursday and could only get bass and catfish. I was able to mark a lot of fish that had walleye indicators, in the same depth zone you were catching but slick calm and bluebirds sky didn't help. Saw the thermocline still there at about 36 ft. 77deg
  2. Tough walleye morning. Water temp dropped about 3-4 deg from last week to 77 deg. That must have messed up the walleye as I went to about 8-10 spots and didn't get one. In fact, I really didn't see much of anything on chart plotter. Not even bluegill. Last spot I did mark fish deep, as in 33-40 ft but I think most were bluegill or yellow bass. Tried different methods and also some back in Creek arms. Did get a few bass but that's it. Had same experience last year - after Labor Day walleye get tough. Time for smallmouth I think!
  3. One is better than none! Your lost fish has the telltale indications of a 10 lb walleye.
  4. Never a bad morning to get out and I never tire of seeing the eagles. Might Try slowing down if not biting crawler harness, as in vertical fish plain jig head with half crawler moving at 0.2 mph or drift if wind is right.
  5. I think first, more of the water column will be available to them so check out both shallower and deeper than you're used to fishing. Second follow the bait, the shad may head towards Creek arms so check around the mouths. Lastly, I found if you go south of highway 12 bridge they are still to be found until you switch to smallmouth fishing. Take that for what it's worth since I don't really know anything myself LOL.
  6. Same. Family coming 3rd week Sept. It'll be touch and go by then
  7. Put in at Prairie Creek to see where the walleye were lurking. On water about 6:45 or so and fish till about 10:45. I was able to get seven walleye, but only two keepers, biggest about 20 in. Several were at that magical 17.5 inch mark so we'll save them till next year. The key is keep moving. I tried some new areas with success, most fish came from about 30 ft. Crawler harness, but I did have to switch up colors a few times and found they preferred a chrome colored blade. I imagine we got about 3 to 4 weeks and then once thermocline is gone I think they scatter some. We'll see. Water temp slowly dropping, 79°
  8. Bfishn that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. Essentially calibrating your depth and then taking it over deep water. I had that thought watching a Tom Boley YouTube video sharpshoot walleye suspended in 60 ft water. Granted was up north but for me thinking to try some things down here.
  9. When only catching smalls, I need to experiment with going out deeper to see if the bigs are there. In reality, they are probably suspending over deep water which make them harder to catch unless you have ffs, which I don't. Might be time to take the war eagle spoon out of the tackle box though and give that a try
  10. Nice job. I went out this morning but it was tougher sledding. Got 5 walleye but all shorts. Zero wind so that didn't help. I always like a 10 mph walleye chop.
  11. Nice size keepers! Congrats! I may try tomorrow a.m. but will probably stop by mid morning given the heat.
  12. Eight is a good number any day. I've been running about 50% keepers lately so that's a pretty good percentage. They're very healthy in my opinion, nice and fat. I was thinking they were all stacked up along the thermocline last week and wondered if all the rain we had last weekend plus cooler temps messed with the thermocline a bit and scattered them. Just a guess though.
  13. Things were slower today. Likely due to cold front that came through. Targeted walleye and got 3. 2 nice keepers and one short. . That was it for walleye, got a couple Kentucky's , catfish and some nice bluegills with it. Was more windy than I expected but didn't mind that at all and was a nice temperature out. I think the front may have scattered fish though.
  14. Went out again at 6:00 a.m., midlake points searching for walleye. Only took a dozen crawlers with me again so thought I'd see what I could catch before it got too hot. The walleye are still active. For my dozen crawlers I got 12 walleye ranging from 14 in up to 3 lb. I had more shorts this time than last week. Mixed in with the walleye I got five catfish and one spotted bass as well. So 18 fish on a dozen crawlers I'm pretty happy with. I used a lime green smile blade spinner/crawler harness. 0.9 mph and got them all from 27 to 31 ft. I didn't keep any today and did quick release keeping them in the water so no photos today. I tried some artificials after the crawlers were gone, I had some hookups on jigging rap but couldn't get them to the surface before they came unpinned. There was sporadic topwater around me but nothing close and I did not chase it. WT 83
  15. No but I'm going to start this winter to tie my own. I have a lot from my uncle and they work well but I think I want some longer leaders when on clear end of lake.
  16. I used some spinner harnesses that were tied by my uncle, who passed away this summer, so that was kind of nice. His kids (my cousins) fish walleye tournaments up on Columbia River.
  17. Haven't been out in about a month it seems with vacation, busy with a new Tritoon to use with grandkids, etc... but ended up being a great walleye day. Went out mid lake for walleye. Stopped by H L &S and bought dozen crawlers. Figured I'd go through them pretty quick then go find some bass. I ended up getting 9 walleye, 2 cats, 1 drum, 1 fat K, and a big bluegill. All but one caught with those dozen crawlers. Pretty good worm to fish ratio! 4 walleye were keepers with biggest at 3lbs. Rest were mostly 16-17 inch range. Fished main lake structure. First spot got one within 5 minutes so thought it was on. Nothing more first hour. Moved to spot 2 and got 3 more. Tried a new area that I've been eyeing and got 5 there so pleased to find a new spot for future. Most caught on silver smile blade crawler harness at 26-28 ft. Water temp 84. Was nice and cool to start with east wind that switched to NW wind about 10:00.
  18. Not a bad way to spend the morning. I went golfing and it was quite nice out. Back in town so I think I'll try walleye mid lake tomorrow. Will make a report if I get out.
  19. Still a fun day I'm sure. 30 ft about the deepest I like to fish in this hot water. I'll get back at it soon. Out in the mountains now escaping the heat and humidity!
  20. When caught that deep, if released, do you have to fizz the fish? To be honest, I've never fished that deep for walleye. I have caught on spoons in upper 30's max. I guess I need to broaden my fishing horizons.
  21. Feel free to DM me your Beaver lake walleye map. Lol
  22. Better then my day! I attempted to get out from Prairie Creek only to find a dead battery at the ramp (due to key in the ACC position). So just fished around PC via trolling motor. Only caught 1- 3 lb catfish. Also lost my transom saver bar so a great morning all the way around!
  23. I've been thinking of going to loch Lomond. I buy a BV boat pass but never use the BV lakes. I'll think I'll try mid lake next week for early tw then move to walleye.
  24. Got out first light (which is darn early this time of year). Was looking for topwater striper but didn't see anything major, just a few individuals here and there. Moved to 3 different spots but same result. Very little bass topwater action as well. I did find one location and was able to get about 4-5 on tw. Mix of spots and smallmouth. One spot was a nice fat 16.5 in. From there, worked the smallmouth and they seemed scattered, one here, one there. Bite shut off for me at 9 and of the water by 10. I think I'll try walleye next week since tw striper aren't cooperating :). Water temp around 81 +/- Here's biggest of the morning.
  25. I've not seen them show up, in numbers on main lake points yet, but I expect them to be soon. When they do, i find them in the 25-35 ft range on long run-out points. I usually locate by using bottom bouncers with crawler spinning rig. Once I locate, you can switch to jig fishing, plastics, or jigging raps, or even war eagle spoons. If you're out real early or late day, you can also get them on top of points and flats. They've been hard to pattern this year and I've caught more up in the trees in Creek arms.
