  1. Which bridge are you talking about? I would like to go give em a try.
  2. Yes. They used to stock them a long time back. I am not sure why the quit perhaps because walleye did better.
  3. I don't listen to music while fishing but if I did it would have to be Bluegrass. Think about it. That BIG brown stripping line off your reel so fast its screaming in time with Foggy Mountain Breakdown or Orange Blossom Special or even better yet Train 45!!!
  4. Count me in for two. A man can never have to many hats, especially when his hair starts getting thin. Heh heh
  5. Uhhhhhhhh. That was strange but Merry Christmas to you and yours anyway.
  6. Yep I couldnt get on all day yesterday or today, until this evening. Glad to be back. I thought maybe Phil had given me the boot or something. Heh heh
  7. There are a lot of different styles of Rapallas out there. What is generally the favorite for Brown Trout?
  8. You can catch them but, you gotta fish deep and slow. Fishing for pan fish this time of year is more of a spin fishing proposition. Fishing at this time of year I use 2 lb line, small sensitive slip bobbers and micro sized jigs or better yet live bait. Try south facing banks with cover and deep water close by.
  9. Been there, done that. Keep looking something will comeo up. Good luck.
  10. Hello and welcome to the site. You will find a lot of good info here and a lot of ribbing too. Bait fishing advice would depend on what you are fishing for. If you are fishing for trout then generally I would say the best thing to remember is smaller is better. Small line (4 or 2 lb you will catch a lot more fish), small hooks (fine wire in size 6 or smaller) and small bait (use enough to get their attention but don't give them a full meal all at once) and small weight (the smaller the weight you can get away with the more likley you will be to detect strikes. Also you can it will help you detect a strike before an aggressive biter swallows the hook). Power baits of all types work well as do worms, various live baits, cheese, marshmallows and other types of processed bait. Dont over look your equipment either. A lot of people think just any old rod and reel will work for bait fishing. Not true. The same rules that apply for fly fishing rods also apply for bait fishing rods. You want a rod rod that will cast small bait and weights yet with enough backbone to cast accurately and into the wind but you dont want so much backbone that it wont protect the line from a hard fighting fish. Unlike fly fishing virtually all fish are fought and brought in using the reel so the reel becomes very important to the non-fly fisherman. You want a reel that will cast your light lines and baits, not tangle the line and very importantly one that has a good drag system. It really sux to have a big fish on just to have him break off because the drag system binds up. After losing a couple of big fish becasue of drag issues I have made it rule to check the drag at the beginning of each and every outing. I also disassemble, clean and lube the drag every few weeks. Just my 2 cents worth. gonefishin
  11. Super glue makes a good knot for holding splitshot in place.
  12. I wouldnt know myself, but they say if you have sattelight or direct TV you can get some rather exciting daytime TV. OHHh Yeah and a credit card...cant get the excitin TV without the credit card.
  13. Glad everything went well Terry. Hope you are up and back at em soon buddy.
  14. If I had to watch that stuff Cindy Garrison would certainly get my vote.
  15. Last few times I fished the lower lake there wasnt much action. I am wondering if other than Sucker are there any fish at all left in the lower lake?
  16. Yep that answered my question. I have wondered about some of the newer high quality materials but have not gotten around to studying up on them. Thanks for taking the work out of it for me. Up to now I have always used wool but I think I will add some fleece items to my christmas list. I have heard about the silver thread process and understand that it is very good. Having been involved in the metal industry for years it surprises me that Patagonia is concerned about health or enviromental issues arising from the use of silver. I dont know the alloy used so the concerns may be because of other metals/chemicals contained that were/are used in the alloying or smelting process. I know that some forign countries use aresnic and/or cyanide to process silver ore. There is also a very small minority of people who are allergic to silver, so perhaps this is their worry. Otherwise from what I know of the metal is that in its pure form it is a safe and stabil material. What! You mean you havent yet caught the world record hybrid on a fly rod? Come'on man, get with the program. Us OAFers need stories of others great success and poweress to keep us inspired. :P
  17. Hey Bill. Where ya been? I havent heard from you for a while. Hows the Hybrid fishing treating you? Any good stories to tell us? Good topic and one I have wondered about but havent studied much on. I have heard and read on several occasions that wool is the only known material that maintains its insulation value even when it is wet. Are the newer synthetics as good as wool in that regard?
  18. WOW Terry. My list isn't that big. All I want from Santa is a new spinning outfit. A GLoomis GL3 rod and Shimano Stella FA Reel would be perfect. If I can't have a new fishing outfit then I would be willing to settle for something as simple as world peace.
  19. HMMmmm. I was just wondering what effect the new metal parts might have on trout. They may be attracted to your new metal parts which would be an unfair advantage in fishing then again they might be repelled by them in which case would be ok cuz you ketch to derned many fish anyway. Either way it will be an interesting experiment.
  20. ROFL LMW that is a good plan. From no everyone wading has to wear either show shows or those big air filled shoes that allow one to walk on the water rather than in the water. HEH HEH
  21. What a crock. LOL A little source research shows that the site is not even from the US, it is of UK origin. Heh heh <meta name='author' content='www.tolranet.co.uk'/> It is just a site put up to get people to click on adds. Best way to accomplish this is to put up contoversial topics or porn. And guess what? It works. As far as I am concerned anyone who fishes while wading is shuffling because if one is walking in the water there is no way to not stir up the bottom. This is especially true, as LMW mentioned, if the footing is a bit precarious. Roaring River knows how to handle shuffling. I say there should be a law making all trout fishing areas like Roaring River. Let the signs go up. No wading by order of the MDC.
  22. Stick it on a hook and chuck it out. Them Creek Chubs is good bait.
  23. That is cool. I have been looking at Google Earth for about a year. This MDC site appears to be Google Earth with MDC lables added. COOL.
  24. Phil: If you arent booked up I would like to attend. gf
  25. I agree with Terry. My advice on the other hand is worth any price. Heh heh J/K Welcome to the board.
