  1. Zach, Give chartreuse a try in that stained water. It will be more visible than white. Most of the trout that I caught yesterday hit chartreuse. Steve
  2. Dan, Black or brown woolies worked. I also caught some on a chartreuse/orange fly that I tie to simulate the "Trout Magnet' lure. Steve
  3. I fished the lower illinois today with Chad and Bill, and it was incredible. here are some pics http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/ste...inois/?start=20 steve
  4. The water is down this morning. I don't know how long it will stay down, though. Steve
  5. It's still running high. Here is the link for the flow http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07198000 Steve
  6. Lake Pahuska is in NE Oklahoma between Bartlesville and Ponca City. Steve
  7. Jimmy D and I went to Lake Pawhuska on Saturday for some gill fishing. Started a bit slow, but as the temperature rose it picked up considerably. I was using a 4wt with 6lb tippet. The hot fly was Terry Wilson's "Bluegill Bugger" in peacock/black. http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/stevec53/Pawhuska/ We also caught a few hold over trout from the winter trout stockings. Steve
  8. Went back and caught a few more today. I also got a couple of bass Steve
  9. It looks like a chub to me. Steve
  10. Since the rivers and lakes around here are out of their banks, I went to a farm pond today. I caught several bass and bluegills, but crappie were my main target for the day. I invited a few home for dinner: Most of them were caught on a simple chartreuse fly with lead dumb-bell eyes, marabou tail, and polar chenille body. Had them for dinner tonight and they were very tasty! Steve
  11. Plenty of water now, LOL! Here are a few pics from the last couple of months.
  12. Zach, I have been to the Zink Dam area 3 times in the past few days. Beleive it or not, the water is too low right now. There are spoonbills swimming around with their backs sticking out of the water in places. I think we need a little more water before it will be any good. Steve
  13. Here is a pic of Randy's striper http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/ste...8fishing010.jpg
  14. They shut the water down Friday night and it was off all weekend. They have lowered the gate at Zinc Dam to flush the silt out, and the water was off color. I fished Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning and afternoon with not much luck. One of my friends did manage to catch one nice striper today. All I was able to catch was 1 drum, 1 buffalo, and 1 carp. I also foul hooked a huge paddlefish that took me into my backing before I broke it off. This is the fly that the striper and my drum hit http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/stevec53/IMG_0037.jpg Steve
  15. The generation has been 11000 CFS or more for the last three weeks. I guess I'll go play with the trout for a while Steve
  16. Like Dano, I also have the 7'6" Three Forks 3wt. It is a great little rod at a great price. I recently got a SA XPS DT line for it and love the way it casts. Steve
  17. Jim, The generation is hard to figure out, very frustrating. I think they may be drawing the lake down in anticipation of the spring rains. I almost got caught in rising water last Sunday down by PSO. I was just lucky that I noticed the water was coming up when I did. Steve
  18. Jim, I have never fished below Fort Gibson, although I did do some snagging for spoonbills below Hudson years ago. I have also heard that there is good striper fishing below Eufala Dam, but I haven't made it down there yet, either. Have you guys been down here recently? Steve
  19. I have been fishing the Arkansas every weekend that the water is low enough to wade. I have not caught large numbers of fish, but have been catching some bigger ones. I went this morning, 30 degrees with a north wind. I only caught 3, but one of them was a good one, probably 15lbs or so. This has been my hot fly the last few trips http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a248/stevec53/IMG_0040.jpg Steve
  20. The SWPA "projected" generation schedule is unreliable. Here is a link for real time data on the flow below Tenkiller Dam http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07198000 Steve
  21. I have been hitting the river whenever the water is low enough to wade. A blue/white Clouser Minnow was the hot fly the last two times that I've been. Steve;
  22. Zach, I've tied similar flies, but not as pretty as that one. Steve
  23. Danimal, It is at the parking area below the dam.Zach, the only person that knows what the fly will be is Griff. He is the one tying them. Steve
  24. I would have waded in on this one sooner, but my power was out for 9 days because of the ice storm. With the off-colored water that we have had, chartreuse has been the hot color. The fly pattern isn't critical as long as it is chartreuse in color. When the water clears up, the colors that Bill mentioned can all be productive. Steve
  25. I saw them in Springfield on the "Street Survivors" tour. I was always a fan and was an even bigger fan after Cassie and Steve joined the band, having grown up listening to Steve Gaines in various local bands. "Fly on Free Bird, free at last." Charlie Daniels Steve
