I am a college fishing coach. Collegiate fishing is setup as a non NCAA club sport. Anglers can fish non collegiate tournaments and win money plus display sponsor logos on their jerseys. If it was an ncaa sport it would not be allowed.

I have had both and my opinion is the Ghost foot pedal is superior to the Garmin. The foot pedal is the only thing that I did not like on the Garmin, although I think the spot lock is better on the Ghost as well. I kept hitting accidently hitting the due north button with my heel on the Garmin plus the pedal tension was way too lose and difficult to control. I also currently have Lowrance live units as well so another reason I chose the Ghost.
