  1. My understanding is a 2 yr work project updating of the hatchery runs and other hatchery projects. Similar to what was done at Roaring River. This has been a planned project for several years according to Ben Havens, hatchery manager. If you or anyone else who might be interested, and is around the park on Wednesdays, there is a group of people tying flies, drinking coffee, and "losing the big one" in our conversations. Bring your vise and materials and sit and tie a few flies. We are there 9 am to about 12 noon. We are at the old hatchery building, the drive at the end of the stone bridge, see the sign on the bridge. Ben usually comes through and visits with us.
  2. According to the hatchery manager there is to be a work project done over the next 2 yrs to update the hatchery runs and other projects in the hatchery. They want to get more water running in the hatchery and runs as I understand it The barge is a crew doing seismic studies for construction of a new "screen" of the stream water into the runways. The current screen clogs up with leaves and weeds when they cut weeds. If you are at Bennett Spring during catch and release ask around to see if the hatchery manager, Ben Havens is working or during the week. Very nice young man and from my experience Ben will take time to explain the program.
